Starbucks has adjusted its dress code allowing its baristas to wear facial piercings. The facial piercings must be no larger than the size of a dime. Previously, workers were allowed a small nose stud, but septum piercings or rings were not permitted. The old dress code which was contained in a book comprised of several pages and stated: 'No other pierced jewelry or body adornments are allowed, including tongue studs.' But Starbucks has decided to ditch the rule book and now reduced its clothing rules to one page. 'We believe the Starbucks Experience is best delivered when partners can bring their whole selves

That's grotesque stuff. Were I a patron of that establishment that had such employees, I would refuse to return. We've done a few times before on restaurants, and will gladly do it again and again until I have to eat Spam from a can.

That is so nasty!!!!! However, since I never shop at Starbucks anyway, it won't effect my life in the least.
I remember when I graduated college and started working in the early 1980's. Men were expected to wear suits, and women wore dresses. There was nothing in the dress code about "piercings", since nobody would have done anything that gross.
We have certainly come a long way since then -- but not in a good way!!!!!

Let me get this straight...a dude (gender indeterminate) with a bone through its nose serving my coffee first thing in the morning.
Uh...no thanks.

Can't read the article because of Ad blocker. However, it is so nasty to see employees anywhere with tats and nose rings, including my doctor's office.

I am seriously put off by people with "metal in their face". Really is bizarre and distracting, in a bad way.

Bad enough if looks could be nauseating, and worse if they're handling food and drinks. I pass!

By all means, bring your "whole selves" to work. I'll bring my "whole self" to McDonald's for $1 coffee that's better than Starbuck's.

Their whole selves....does that include a working brain?

Thank heavens Starbucks is not a place I patronize, so don't have to be confronted by whole self freaks. IMHO Tats and piercings are signs of primitivity and disturbed brain function.

Bring your whole self, including your hepatitis and other risky-behavior diseases, to work.

Ahhh. You look like a landed trout! Tell me why women spend THOUSANDS on their complexion and then punch a hole in their face? And guys. I really want to buy coffee from a guy who looks like he had a face plant in a tackle box.

Gross and nasty! However, I am not sure why we are shocked. I have seen employees at many fast food restaurants, grocery stores even in my conservative area with those awful piercings. They are unhealthy and unattractive too!

The first time I saw facial piercings, I did a hard flinch and it wasn't even at a Starbucks. I never do Starbucks, so I can avoid many of the freaks that work there. How do they even get a health permit to operate?
