Key Democrat Witness Noah Feldman in
May: ‘Impeaching Trump Has Become
Too Political to Take Seriously’

Harvard Law School professor Noah Feldman, one of the Democrats’ star witnesses called to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, authored an op-ed in May lamenting the lack of seriousness surrounding efforts to impeach President Trump, and admitting that House Democrats “made it painfully clear that discussing impeachment is primarily or even exclusively a tool to weaken Trump’s chances in 2020.” Feldman authored an op-ed featured in Bloomberg in May titled, “It’s Hard to Take Impeachment Seriously Now” and suggested that many of the ongoing discussions of impeaching Trump treat the action as a “trivialized gambit within the ordinary game of electoral politics.”

(hit submit too soon) FTA: “Impeachment was intended by the constitutional framers as a highly serious option reserved for only the most extraordinary, egregious violations of the rule of law,” he wrote. “Today’s discussion treats impeachment as a trivialized gambit within the ordinary game of electoral politics. The undermining of the constitutional ideal is near-total,” he continued, calling it “almost laughable.” Throughout the article, Feldman stresses the serious nature of impeachment – something, he alluded, has been absent from the ongoing discussions on impeaching Trump. While he acknowledged the “political” aspects of impeachment, he argued that the Founding Fathers deliberately made “successful impeachment and removal very difficult, precisely to discourage Congress from taking the whole process lightly.” “They chose words with grand implications — ‘high crimes’ — to underscore that removing the president outside of elections must not be undertaken lightly,” he wrote, ultimately observing that the ongoing debate surrounding impeaching Trump “robbed impeachment of its original serious content and atmosphere.” He continued:

Feldman mentions lawmakers meeting Madison and Hamilton in the afterlife and having to justify their actions; what about you, Noah? What will you say to God when He judges you and asks why you lied under oath to Congress? The only one telling the truth is Turley, and he is neither for nor against Trump-he is for the TRUTH. And truth is something that Noah Feldman, or Pamela Kar;lan, or Michael Gerhardt seem to have barely a fleeting accquaintance with. The whole thing is a farce and all the Dems belong in jail. Every one of them is guilty of obstruction of justice, perjury, and treason.

I guess his 15 minutes of fame superseded his doubts about the impeachment legitimacy. But all in all, I have been watching this travesty (with exceptions, like turning off for Sheilah Jackson Leigh--HOW does this woman get ere-elected?) and I think it is a Republican plus, particularly in the case of the woman prof from Stamford. She is so strident, so unlikeable, so willing to NOT consider the fact that the witnesses she has watched on tv are culled from what Schiff and Nadler want and is therefore "insulted, that she speaks volumes in her severe black suit and with her waving hands.

I was just at HLS walking by the pictures they have of all the faculty members on the wall... thinking of how embarrassing it must have been to have had a fake Indian on the faculty. Now they are beclowned again with Feldman's contradictory testimony... but maybe they're not embarrassed, maybe that's expected, it's what lawyers do... it's not lying, it's obfuscating, prevaricating, and dissembling.

House intelligence committee chairman Adam Schiff has released a 300-page Trump-Ukraine impeachment inquiry report. It’s what you would expect of a rushed report after two weeks of hearsay and opinion testimony: full of unsupported conclusions based upon faulty assumptions. Garbage assumptions lead to garbage conclusions. Below is a list of several key assumptions Schiff totally failed to support in the report. 1. If You Believe Ukraine Interfered in the 2016 Election, You Must Believe Russia Didn’t Schiff wrote, “The President demanded that the newly-elected Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, publicly announce investigations … into a discredited theory that it was Ukraine, not Russia,

Notice how the media simply ignores it? This is a pretty big damn deal. Under what authority can congress arbitrarily send subpoenas for the private phone records of citizens, journalists, and fellow politicians? Can Nunes now start sending subpoenas for the phone records of Michael Isikoff around the time of the Flynn phone call leak?… and can congress publish those call records as a part of

Attorney General William Barr reportedly disagrees with a finding by the forthcoming Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General (IG) report that the FBI had sufficient reason to monitor the Trump campaign in 2016. The FBI conducted surveillance on Trump campaign associates, including foreign policy aide Carter Page, on the basis of suspicions that the campaign might have been colluding with Russia to interfere with the 2016 election. No evidence of collusion was ever found, though the surveillance continued well after the election, and the fact that the FBI was investigating the Trump campaign over Russia was leaked to Democrats and to the mainstream media. A little something to cleanse the palate. She said this in an interview today with Howard Stern, which makes it slightly less weird since chatter about lesbians is like 40 percent of the content on that show. Or at least it was when I was a regular listener a million years ago. (In fairness to Stern, she’s the one who brings it up.) He went easy on her by not asking the obvious follow-up: What were you doing at Epstein’s ranch, then? She should consider this a missed opportunity, as a surprise admission of bisexuality would have helped add a little more “diversity” to an upcoming Democratic debate.
