The New York Times editorial board is asking the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) to toss out a challenge against New York City gun control rather than rule against the controls at the center of the challenge. Breitbart News reported that SCOTUS was hearing a challenge to the NYC gun control on Monday, December 1, 2019. The gun control prohibited licensed firearm owners from transporting their firearms to all but seven city-approved gun ranges. On December 2, 2019, the NYT editorial board begged SCOTUS to discard the case, pointing to the fact that NYC repealed their gun control when it became evident that SCOTUS would take the case.

Slimes, just stick with publishing your lousy rag and leave the SCOTUS alone.

I'm glad the NYT weighed in on this. It confirms that the SCOTUS was right to grant cert.

Oh so the SCOTUS is a political entity or so the NYT believes it is just as with the Obama years.

Sorry NT Times, it doesn't work like that. 2nd Amendment rights were violated, Skippy.

They had what was probably an un-Constitutional law.
They thought the Supreme Court would take their toys away.
So they repealed their law.
What would prevent them from passing the same law again if the Supreme take a pass?

Hopefully, the Republicans will control the White House, House of Representatives and Senate starting in 2021. When that happens, perhaps we can see an affirmation of the second amendment by passing a law to make any state-issued carry permit valid throughout the entire USA, just like a state-issued driver license. That would guarantee the constitutional right to bear arms.

#7, it has always baffled me that the 'full faith and credit' portion of the U.S. constitution does not apply to gun permits. It applies to marriages, divorces, driver's licenses, auto registration, car insurance...but not to pistol permits.
It should not be necessary to have a new law on the subject.

"An affirmation of the second amendment" law that #7 would like to see would seem to be a useless, oxymoronic exercise, but could be a good idea to publicize a constitutional victory.
Language in such a bill should be included stating that all 'state permits' shall be an unnumbered card
with the 2nd Amendment embossed in raised letters, issued without condition, free for asking.

I keep hoping that the Supreme Court will strike down ALL gun bans and ALL magazine restrictions, permanently.

#9, we have sixteen states which now recognize the 2nd Amendment as all that is needed for a law abiding adult to carry a gun concealed or openly. It is commonly called "Constitutional Carry".

#9/11, a law directing that any state not fully compliant with the 2nd (and that would include requiring permits to avoid harasement by their thugs,) would lose any and all federal funds until such time that they started correctly recognizing a citizen's right.
