Judge closes Third Avenue entrance to King
County Courthouse, citing security concerns

A judge ordered Monday that the Third Avenue entrance to the King County Courthouse in downtown Seattle will be closed for the rest of the year, citing safety concerns. The court has received continued reports of assaults outside the courthouse, Presiding Judge Jim Rogers wrote in the order. Rogers, who has long been outspoken about what he perceives as a lack of security in the area, said litigants, jurors, attorneys and employees have reported being attacked. “These safety conditions have the effect of discouraging and denying access and therefore justice to all who would seek it from our Court,”

Comments:

Elected county coucil won't even keep themselves safe; this is where their offices are. In 2017 judges called for increased security and a city-county work group was formed. Some King County Council members then instead called for addressing underlying issues such as addiction, mental illness and homelessness.

A simple problem for the liberals providing the "leadership" in Seattle. Designate that part of Third Avenue as a "Crime Free Zone".

When Justice can or will no longer protect its own halls, the rule of law has become a joke.

I agree with the judge except for one thing -- who made him king? If I want to close the block in front of my building, can I just do it? Of course not, and neither should he be able to do that. I will bet that the judge also thinks that Trump is a dictator.

Better to close ALL the doors. There is no justice to be found within.

I used to work on 3rd ave just two blocks from here twenty some-odd years ago. The homeless problem was horrible then in front of the courthouse. The first floor windows have outside ledges which were deep, recessed, and about 5-6 feet long...guess what they were used for? One night, a group of co-workers walked to the old Kingdome for a Mariners game...it was safe walking down at 5:30 PM. When we walked back to our building....oh my. By 10 PM, it was jungle law on 3rd Ave. Don't also forget that blocks away on 2nd and Pike was the ever-present needle exchange set up for the junkies. Seattle's problems have been building to this critical mass for a long time. They have no one to blame but themselves.

The penultimate result of rampant 'liberalism'. Soon they will just abandon their entire 'justice' system and let the lawless hordes run rampant.

Sound Transit will continue to collect car-tab taxes but avoid suing to overturn Tim Eyman’s tax-cutting Initiative 976, approved by voters statewide this month. Last month I wrote about an extraordinary news special produced by station KOMO in Seattle. Provocatively titled “Seattle is Dying” the hour-long special argued that the homeless problem in the city was a disaster for residents thanks to policies that let people with addictions or mental problems live in a law-free zone on the city’s streets... Earlier this month, leaked documents revealed that a group of prominent nonprofits—the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Campion Advocacy Fund, the Raikes Foundation, and the Ballmer Group—hired a PR firm, Pyramid Communications, to conduct polling, create messaging

It’s one of the questions you’re not supposed to ask in public but everyone talks about in private: What’s going on with Matt Drudge? For conservatives, the Drudge Report was a one-stop shop for news on the Internet starting in the late 1990s. When Matt first broke the scandal involving the President of the United States and an intern, his place at the top of alternative media, as it was called then, was secured. As always, imitators followed. But none came close to combing as many news outlets and boiling down the essence of stories like Drudge. That was his magic – he’d plow through stories and

Actor Josh Brolin says he gave hot new wellness trend “perineum sunning” a whirl — with disastrous results that left his “pucker hole” sunburned. The “No Country for Old Men” actor revealed the effect of tanning his bum in a Black Friday Instagram post. “My pucker hole is crazy burned and I was going to spend the day shopping with my family and instead I’m icing and using aloe and burn creams because of the severity of the pain,” Brolin wrote next to a photo of a naked man lying on his back with his legs in the air as the sun kisses his posterior.

A viral video published by Deseret Sun photojournalist J. Omar Ornelas shows two men using a ladder to defeat the replacement border fence that President Donald Trump said “can’t be climbed.” In September, Trump visited the Otay Mesa border site to extol the virtues of the replacement barrier that’s being installed there, and went on an extended riff about how difficult the fence would be to climb. Trump said the wall had been tested by “world-class mountain climbers,” and referenced “pictures of young people climbing walls with drugs on their back--a lot of drugs.”

After skewering Melania Trump’s holiday decorations in the past, the Washington Post has this year approved of her White House decor, and decided instead to criticize the former fashion model's appearance in a widely mocked piece on Tuesday that labeled the first lady's jacket "ridiculous." The liberal paper’s fashion critic Robin Givhan wrote a piece headlined, “Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations are lovely, but that coat looks ridiculous,” which criticizes the outfit the first lady wore when unveiling the décor.

California Sen. Kamala Harris should never have run for president in the first place. Her ambition far exceeded her ability. She hadn’t yet established herself in the U.S. Senate. And she hadn’t exactly excelled in her previous job as California’s attorney general. There wasn’t much of a record worth bragging about on the campaign trail. After being elected to the Senate in a 2016 cakewalk, she should have spent the next three years focused exclusively on representing Californians in Congress, helping the state on such vital issues as water development, environmental protection, healthcare and homelessness. But people around her — political advisors and her sister Maya Harris

In 2018, he held the annual Mayor’s Night Out — an open-listening event to let residents quiz city officials — at a Salvation Army community center.

George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who was acquitted in the 2012 fatal shooting of unarmed black teen Trayvon Martin, is suing Martin's family and Florida prosecutors, claiming that they engineered false evidence in the homicide trial. The lawsuit to be filed Wednesday in Polk County Circuit Court seeks $100million in civil damages for defamation, abuse of civil process and conspiracy. It alleges that the prosecution's key witness in Zimmerman's 2013 murder trial, Rachel Jeantel, was an imposter coached by the family and their lawyers.
