WASHINGTON – With just a week remaining before the deadline to run for office in Texas next year, some Democrats are still hoping to see Beto O’Rourke jump into the race to unseat Sen. John Cornyn.
Cornyn himself continued to raise money on Monday off the specter.
Poll after poll shows Cornyn would trounce the dozen or so contenders for the Democratic nomination at this point. None can touch the near-universal name recognition O’Rourke enjoys among Texas Democrats after his near-miss against Sen. Ted Cruz last year.
And a new poll commissioned by backers worried that the current crop of candidates would fall short shows that O’Rourke is by far the top choice

As he is the only recognizable name among Texas Democrats, this should not be a surprise. Please run, Skateboard Bobby O. Tell us again about your plans for gun confiscation and your open border policy.

My initial reaction was that Texan's are not that stupid. Then I realized that we're talking Dimocrats and Dimocrat primary. Yes, they are that stupid and there's plenty to go around in Taxes.

I hope they both lose. Cornyn is just a worthless placeholder. I'd feel better if the fine folks in Texas could field a real conservative.

Cornyn's fundraising over the Robert Francis possibility, but I can guarantee he's not losing sleep over it.

Go for it, Beto. All of those AR-15 owners would love to see you try again and George Soros always has some extra cash for you.

Just rerun any footage of Robert O'Rourke discussing gun confiscation, and he will be easily beatable. That's what did in his Presidential run with his own party. He didn't even make it to first base. Gun ownership cuts across party lines. There are lots of Democrats that will shout 'Don't take my guns!".

I cannot fathom what his appeal is even to stupid Democrats. He acts like a child and his policy ideas are political poison.

John Cornyn has done enough to turn off Texas voters that he and the GOP should be more than a little concerned about Beto running against him. The concept is simple -- if the GOP does not put forward good candidates, then it should not expect good results. Cornyn is not a good candidate. There are countless incidents in which I thought, "I'll never vote for that guy." And I did not, last time around.
I won't vote for Beto, but I won't vote for Cornyn, either. Do you hear me, Texas GOP?

I can't imagine refusing to vote for an incumbent GOP Senator in a general election. John Cornyn's poll numbers aren't bad. Not wonderful, but not bad.

Beto should hook up with Petey. What a nauseating combination that would only appeal demented democrats.

When I first read the headline, I read it as "he'd soil through the Senate primary." I think the way I read it makes more sense.

All Cornyn needs to do is to publicly embrace Trumpanomics and advocate stronger border enforcement.

Beavis O’Dork was a PHANTOM candidate when he ran in the Senate race with Senator Cruz.
After his failed run for the nomination of the demonrat socialists, he is now known to do or say ANYTHING to pander for votes ruining whatever integrity he had—
He is far too wacko and out of touch with the majority of Texans, but would fit right in if he moved to Taxifornia!
He has worn out his welcome with your everyday hard-working democrat voters as too radical. While Senator Cornyn IS a RINO, he will win handily over such a sellout as Robert Francis O’Rourke....
