Well, this is interesting. Attorney General Bill Barr is pushing back on IG Horowitz’s coming findings on the Trump-Russia investigation. Recent reports have said that Horowitz will find no political bias in the investigation despite ample evidence numerous high level officials had it out for Trump. As with the IG’s findings on the Hillary investigation, Horowitz’s standard is apparently an admission under oath and sealed in blood, as he found dozens of pieces of evidence of bias there but still concluded there was nothing conclusive.

Horowitz's last report convinced me he was covering up for the cabal. He is a swamp rat investigating other swamp rats.

Read the whole article. Horowitz, regardless of what you think of him personally, has always been a paper tiger. He has no ability to compel testimony and relies on voluntary cooperation for much of his data gathering. He has some subpoena power over documents, but it’s limited. The IG report on this matter was never going to be a total telling of what happened. On the other hand, John Durham’s investigation has the full power and weight of the justice system behind it. He’s already impaneled a grand jury and has full ability to compel testimony from any number of figures, including many who never sat down with Horowitz. He also has the power to go after process crimes that occur during those testimonies. The fact that Barr is willing to say this to associates points to Durham perhaps coming to different conclusions. There’s no doubt some people are going to be prosecuted, it’s just a matter of who. Horowitz was, in effect, a department auditor. Durham is a prosecutor. He has for some time been having persons “interviewed”, but by prosecutors, not “investigators”.

Looks like the fix may be in regarding the FISA abuses. Must be nice being a dim. But, will reserve judgement until Horowitz publishes his report. I don't see what Barr will be able to do about it other than engage in Durham's findings when these come out.

The most serious problem with anything Horowitz puts out is that all his "testimony" is voluntary, and if people don't want to talk to him, or lie to him, he can do nothing about it. Durham, with a grand jury, is a WHOLE 'nother deal. And know that Barr, in visiting Italy and other places has seen evidence that Horowitz has not seen. An ultimately, I don't think Horowitz has the slightest stomach for finding anyone in the Swamp was a problem, did anything wrong. Seems like we will find out that Horowitz was useless, and a waste of time and effort.

You know, all of this really begs the question: why on earth is Horowitz even doing this report? He can’t compel testimony? Can’t get anyone under oath? Can’t really investigate? Then what in the Sam Hill is he doing calling this sham an investigation and coming to a “conclusion”?

I echo the concern that the IG's work appears to be almost useless. Yet, we rubes in the public are told that all is well because the IGs are constantly watching government and will let us know if anything goes wrong. That appears to be a YUGE lie. The IGs seem to worry only about bureaucratese minutiae. "He should have filed form XYZ version 22 instead of form ABC version 45396." And the punishment for forms mistakes? Absolutely nothing. IGs seem to investigate to the satisfaction of the mediocre minds of other bureaucrats. The public is lead to believe the IGs are lions at the gates of accountability. It appears they are kittens. Declawed kittens. What real purpose could they possibly fulfil? The gates appear to be unguarded and that is a very serious problem and explains why the bureaucracy is spinning out of control.

Okay, we are being prepared for a big letdown. If Horowitz has limited power to do what is necessary to make a conclusion why waste the time? Clearly, this guy is just another swamp creature more committed to the status quo than to the rule of law. It’s just business as usual. My concern is that this is by design. What I mean is this a deep state end run in order to paint AG Barr as nothing more than a partisan running interference for the President. Now his appointment of Durham will be spun as nothing more than a real witch hunt against the FBI and DOJ. It’s Trump’s retaliation against the democrats. The dems will treat this report as the Holy Grail if it fails to find any guilt on the part of the FBI, DOJ, and CIA. It will be the definitive report that will be used to challenge anything Durham uncovers. This is what the Deep State does best. It muddies the waters and creates a place of sanctimonious denial that any real prosecution would be required. The left will spin it in their favor daily 24/7. There will be a lot of gloating from Comey, Brennan, Clapper, McCabe, et al. If Durham’s report doesn’t come out before the election, the left will use Horowitz’s bucket of warm spit to exonerate the Deep State. This is all about the ability of the media to spin this report in the democrats favor so that anything Durham produces will be done under the guise of partisanship. Durham may have the teeth of prosecution behind him but what good is it if it comes too late? Horowitz will be heralded as a straight shooter and Durham will be called a partisan hack. The media will use the old meme of the prosecutor and ham sandwich. Another disappointment is on the way. Bank on it.

I gotta wonder just who got to Horowitz? There probably wasn't a horses head in his bed but perhaps the value of Secretariat in his bank account.

"We’ve got a fresh Diet Coke,” the cameraman announced, peering through the lens at President Trump, who was locked in conversation inside the Oval Office. “Beverages were just served.” The White House press corps erupted in groans. It was getting towards an hour since we’d been marched out to the edge of the South Lawn to wait for the president. The cameraman, zooming in on the window, informed us that the other guy was Attorney General William Barr. Outside, the crisp fall dusk was punctured by the metallic roar of a helicopter engine. The soft drinks were a grave portent: they signaled the meeting would stretch on, which it did,

Hatred makes you crazy. There is perhaps no surer example of this principle than Never Trump stalwart Bill Kristol. Early Monday morning, he tweeted that another four years of Donald Trump would be more dangerous for free markets than four years of Elizabeth Warren as president. Not that Warren is anywhere near his first pick... "I very much prefer Biden or Buttigieg or Bloomberg or Klobuchar to Warren. But the idea that one term of Warren would pose anything like the threat of a second term for Trump to the basic norms and institutions of our liberal democracy, including to free markets, is laughable," Kristol insisted.

Last Saturday, the NFL’s most controversial quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, participated in a workout to try to spark interest in his employment. So far, no NFL team has reached out to him about a potential job. Kaepernick has been unemployed for three years. He led the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2012 and did quite well as quarterback in 2013, but then his career started to wane. In 2016 he started kneeling during the national anthem as a protest of police brutality. His move angered fans but delighted political pundits who loved his anti-America message. Kaepernick was on his way out of the NFL

When it comes to politics, these guys are dropping the ball! More than a quarter of men in the US would rather their favorite football team win the Super Bowl than their preferred candidate win the presidency, a new poll shows. In a phone survey of 712 adults, 28 percent of guys admitted to caring more about the big game than the next leader of the free world, according to a press release from Seton Hall Sports Polls. Women, by contrast, tackled the question with more of a world view — with only 11 percent saying they’d rather their team score a championship.

Real Clear Investigations has published a report about the anti-Trump wheelings and dealings of John Brennan, former director of the CIA. The investigation makes me, and others, wonder whether Brennan is has led the anti-Trump coup from the start. "Nearly three years later, as the public awaits answers from two Justice Department inquiries into the Trump-Russia probe’s origins, and as impeachment hearings catalyzed by a Brennan-hired anti-Trump CIA analyst unfold in Congress, it is clear that Brennan’s role in propagating the collusion narrative went far beyond his work on the ICA," Real Clear Investigations reports.

President Donald Trump is simply not given the credit by a mostly antagonistic media for the things he has achieved, from helping to build an incredible economy to actually taking concrete and substantive steps to further American interests on other domestic and foreign policy. But in a case of very interesting timing, he just got some important praise from a very unexpected source, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) the vice-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Warner was being interviewed on PBS’ “Firing Line” with Margaret Hoover on Friday when he gave Trump credit for allowing the U.S. to “punch back”

Forget whether the math works. (It doesn’t.) Expecting billionaires to pay for all the nice things is bad for democracy. One of the more exhausting rituals of presidential campaign season is the effort to make every new proposal “add up.” Sure, it’s better that politicians try to come up with a plan to pay for their wish lists. The problem is that the explanations are often a disguise that make the impossible seem possible, even practical. Fake budgets are the tribute that pandering pays to pragmatism. You could confiscate the wealth of every billionaire and centimillionaire in the country and it wouldn’t come close to paying

Clerics in the medieval Church did not have the luxury of literate pew-sitters. They, rather creatively, used the architecture, sculpture, and paintings in cathedrals to convey the biblical narrative to the unlettered faithful. Gothic architecture so arrests the modern eye not only for its structural and formalistic brilliance but also because the ornature itself narrates the story of salvation. The climate clerics have erected their own Biblia pauperum for the unwashed masses in San Francisco. One Atmosphere, an area non-profit, dedicated a mammoth mural yesterday of the teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The House Ethics Committee on Thursday released a trove of striking internal campaign communications sent in 2018 by Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, in which Tlaib urgently requested money from her congressional campaign to defray personal expenses -- and, a government watchdog said, possibly violated federal law in the process. The document dump was related to the committee's ongoing ethics probe into Tlaib, which the panel said on Thursday would be "expanded" based on a referral from the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE). Additionally, the Ethics Committee acknowledged for the first time on Thursday an investigation into Florida Democratic Rep. Alcee Hastings concerning a "personal relationship

From 1967 to 2019, Republicans controlled the California governorship for 31 of 52 years. So why is there currently not a single statewide Republican officeholder? California also has a Democratic governor and Democratic supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature. Only seven of California's 53 congressional seats are held by Republicans. In 1994, then-Gov. Pete Wilson backed Proposition 187, which denied state social services to undocumented immigrants. The spin goes that it backfired, alienated the Hispanic community and thus marked the road to Republican perdition.

A little something to cleanse the palate. She said this in an interview today with Howard Stern, which makes it slightly less weird since chatter about lesbians is like 40 percent of the content on that show. Or at least it was when I was a regular listener a million years ago. (In fairness to Stern, she’s the one who brings it up.) He went easy on her by not asking the obvious follow-up: What were you doing at Epstein’s ranch, then? She should consider this a missed opportunity, as a surprise admission of bisexuality would have helped add a little more “diversity” to an upcoming Democratic debate.
