Well, this is interesting.
Attorney General Bill Barr is pushing back on IG Horowitz’s coming findings on the Trump-Russia investigation. Recent reports have said that Horowitz will find no political bias in the investigation despite ample evidence numerous high level officials had it out for Trump. As with the IG’s findings on the Hillary investigation, Horowitz’s standard is apparently an admission under oath and sealed in blood, as he found dozens of pieces of evidence of bias there but still concluded there was nothing conclusive.

Horowitz's last report convinced me he was covering up for the cabal. He is a swamp rat investigating other swamp rats.

Horowitz, regardless of what you think of him personally, has always been a paper tiger. He has no ability to compel testimony and relies on voluntary cooperation for much of his data gathering. He has some subpoena power over documents, but it’s limited. The IG report on this matter was never going to be a total telling of what happened.
On the other hand, John Durham’s investigation has the full power and weight of the justice system behind it. He’s already impaneled a grand jury and has full ability to compel testimony from any number of figures, including many who never sat down with Horowitz. He also has the power to go after process crimes that occur during those testimonies.
The fact that Barr is willing to say this to associates points to Durham perhaps coming to different conclusions. There’s no doubt some people are going to be prosecuted, it’s just a matter of who.
Horowitz was, in effect, a department auditor. Durham is a prosecutor. He has for some time been having persons “interviewed”, but by prosecutors, not “investigators”.

Looks like the fix may be in regarding the FISA abuses. Must be nice being a dim. But, will reserve judgement until Horowitz publishes his report. I don't see what Barr will be able to do about it other than engage in Durham's findings when these come out.

The most serious problem with anything Horowitz puts out is that all his "testimony" is voluntary, and if people don't want to talk to him, or lie to him, he can do nothing about it.
Durham, with a grand jury, is a WHOLE 'nother deal.
And know that Barr, in visiting Italy and other places has seen evidence that Horowitz has not seen. An ultimately, I don't think Horowitz has the slightest stomach for finding anyone in the Swamp was a problem, did anything wrong. Seems like we will find out that Horowitz was useless, and a waste of time and effort.

You know, all of this really begs the question: why on earth is Horowitz even doing this report? He can’t compel testimony? Can’t get anyone under oath? Can’t really investigate? Then what in the Sam Hill is he doing calling this sham an investigation and coming to a “conclusion”?

Horowitz sounds as if he is part of the "me too" crowd.

Picking up on what # 5 said, what then is the purpose of the IG's office to begin with? Seems to be just another layer of bureaucracy intended to help the Deep State protect itself.

I echo the concern that the IG's work appears to be almost useless. Yet, we rubes in the public are told that all is well because the IGs are constantly watching government and will let us know if anything goes wrong. That appears to be a YUGE lie. The IGs seem to worry only about bureaucratese minutiae. "He should have filed form XYZ version 22 instead of form ABC version 45396." And the punishment for forms mistakes? Absolutely nothing. IGs seem to investigate to the satisfaction of the mediocre minds of other bureaucrats. The public is lead to believe the IGs are lions at the gates of accountability. It appears they are kittens. Declawed kittens. What real purpose could they possibly fulfil?
The gates appear to be unguarded and that is a very serious problem and explains why the bureaucracy is spinning out of control.

Okay, we are being prepared for a big letdown. If Horowitz has limited power to do what is necessary to make a conclusion why waste the time? Clearly, this guy is just another swamp creature more committed to the status quo than to the rule of law. It’s just business as usual. My concern is that this is by design. What I mean is this a deep state end run in order to paint AG Barr as nothing more than a partisan running interference for the President. Now his appointment of Durham will be spun as nothing more than a real witch hunt against the FBI and DOJ. It’s Trump’s retaliation against the democrats.
The dems will treat this report as the Holy Grail if it fails to find any guilt on the part of the FBI, DOJ, and CIA. It will be the definitive report that will be used to challenge anything Durham uncovers. This is what the Deep State does best. It muddies the waters and creates a place of sanctimonious denial that any real prosecution would be required. The left will spin it in their favor daily 24/7. There will be a lot of gloating from Comey, Brennan, Clapper, McCabe, et al.
If Durham’s report doesn’t come out before the election, the left will use Horowitz’s bucket of warm spit to exonerate the Deep State. This is all about the ability of the media to spin this report in the democrats favor so that anything Durham produces will be done under the guise of partisanship. Durham may have the teeth of prosecution behind him but what good is it if it comes too late? Horowitz will be heralded as a straight shooter and Durham will be called a partisan hack. The media will use the old meme of the prosecutor and ham sandwich. Another disappointment is on the way. Bank on it.
