America Braces for Possible French Fry
Shortage After Poor Potato Harvest

Original Article

Potato processors are rushing to buy supplies and ship them across North America in order to keep French fries on the menu after cold, wet weather damaged crops in key producers in the U.S. and Canada. Cool conditions started to hit growing regions in October, lashing potatoes with frost. Farmers in Alberta and Idaho were able to dig up some damaged crops for storage. But growers in Manitoba, North Dakota and Minnesota received snow and rain, forcing them to abandon some supplies in fields. As the wild weather hurt crops, an increase in fry-processing capacity in Canada has boosted demand. The combination will lead to tight supplies,

Add this to the Popeye sandwich shortage and there could be local rioting and insurrections. Mind your manners and pass the salt.

$2 won't get a 5# bag of potatoes here. Potatoes are grown here on the Shore, but many farmers had small crops. One local lady known for Hayman sweet potatoes had a lousy crop this year due to some kind of fungus or something causing them to not grow. Might take her several years to get the ground back into good condition. I would hate to not be able to eat French fries. Betcha all the fast food places raise prices tomorrow or soon.

And the Eco-freaks keep claiming that "global warming" will cause problems, as ACTUAL cooled climatic conditions ARE NOW causing food shortage problems. The "climate scam" is trying to run counter to the actual changes that are being imposed on us by long term Earth's orbit cycles and variability in the sun's output. Nothing to do with anything man is doing on Earth.

A family thought thought their home had been ransacked by burglars — but it turns out it was an inside job. A Cocker Spaniel puppy named Dory trashed the joint while her humans were out shopping, turning the “when the cat’s away” cliché on it’s head. (Snip) That’s when they noticed the “nibble marks” on everything — and realized Dory had quite the afternoon. The 11-month-old pup had emptied the kitchen cupboards and garbage can, littering the home with trash, biscuits, assorted chocolates and cooking utensils. “Dory is just a full-time nutcase who enjoys causing havoc,” Dylan, a 21-year-old medical biochemistry student, told Caters News.

Research, reporting, and record-keeping can be a funny thing. The federal government aims to tell us what the global climate will be like a decade from now, yet it struggles to tell us what happened regarding abortion in America three years ago. We are not interested in taking a position here on the topic of climate change, but we do pay close attention to abortion statistics, and once again the news, slow in coming as it is, is uneven. The latest abortion surveillance (not our term) report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention brought welcome news that abortion rates in the United States continue to fall.

A little something to cleanse the palate. She said this in an interview today with Howard Stern, which makes it slightly less weird since chatter about lesbians is like 40 percent of the content on that show. Or at least it was when I was a regular listener a million years ago. (In fairness to Stern, she’s the one who brings it up.) He went easy on her by not asking the obvious follow-up: What were you doing at Epstein’s ranch, then? She should consider this a missed opportunity, as a surprise admission of bisexuality would have helped add a little more “diversity” to an upcoming Democratic debate.

Sen. Kamala Harris would have been an excellent president. But it was never going to happen. The elephant in the room was just too big. She is a woman and she is black. That’s why she abruptly withdrew from the race on Tuesday. America isn’t progressive enough to elect a black woman as head of state, any more than it was when Shirley Chisholm ran in 1972.
