A Utah substitute teacher was fired this month after allegedly criticizing a fifth grade boy who told the class he was thankful for his two adoptive dads.
The incident occurred last Friday at the Deerfield Elementary School in Cedar Hills after the sub asked students about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. When the 11-year-old child remarked about his two fathers, she allegedly described two men living together as a sin.

The teacher is theologically correct. It is a sin - but, she was out of order making such a fuss in a classroom. Better to just quickly change the subject by calling on another student to share their thanks. Just my opinion.

She was right, but it wasn't her place to embarrass this child in front of the class.
Like #1 said she should have just moved on.

She wasn't hired to provide her personal opinions, particularly with respect to religious issues. Anyone who can't understand that should be fired--they're a lawsuit waiting to happen.

The state of Utah is politically controlled by older males of the old school.
BUT, the teachers' union is controlled by a liberal cadre of single females.
Even the Mormon single teachers are a good deal more liberal than their married counterparts.
Once you hit 40 as a single female the Mormons turn their backs on you as one who is not saveable.
Then came the "love bomb."
Mormons sneak over to your house when you're out and leave "proof" that you are loved.
I have neighbors who this happens to regularly.
These gay men got love bombed.

The comments so far give a pretty clear picture of just how and why the country is sinking into a cesspool of degenerate filth.
Degenerate behavior should be confronted and pointed out for social criticism and ridicule. To hell with "hurt feelings".
It is apparently OK with some if teachers demonstrate the proper techniques of sodomy but not state that it is a sin and an abomination and a gross transgression against natural law.
Number 5 is apparently some kind of warped Mormon hater making up nonsense to denigrate some of the few people still attempting to hold to the commandments and follow Christ. This is a form of virtue signaling fully as idiotic and vile as anything from the left.
Removing religion from classrooms has had more than a little to do with the moral collapse of our culture. Add to this that religion has not been removed but merely replaced by the paganism of the left which teaches every manner of perversion and idiocy and will not tolerate anything resembling objective truth.

Children. That's a powerful force field to use for your cause. The kid can say how lovely his two homosexual daddies are, or how he believes there's nothing wrong with their lifestyles and nobody can say a thing otherwise - definitely not his teacher, but also all the other kids in his class (and their parents) - because ... Children!

#5, what are you on about?

I live in Utah and I've never seen or even heard about anyone getting "love bombed." I suppose it's happened somewhere at least once, or you wouldn't be telling us all about it.
Would you?

Homosexual behavior is a perversion of natural sex.
Such behavior has been condemned for thousands of years.
But WE are so "smart" that WE tolerate it.
Don't tolerate it.

I totally agree with #'s 1, 2 and 4. While I agree with the teacher's believe that the behavior is wrong, the classroom is not the place to bring it up, and it is not the teacher's place to discuss it with the child. He still has to live his life as it is set. Let her go out and protest or write articles or speak in church. Leave the classroom out of her opinions.

Teacher is correct but too late - good people should have stood up decades ago and called a spade a spade. Now we are in a cultural cesspool.

None of her remarks belong in a classroom. Sure, she can have opinions, but not in front of her students.

It's not really the teacher's role to comment or intervene in her students' family environment unless it is directly harmful to life.
