Hero dog Conan was presented with a one-of-a-kind medal during a visit to the White House earlier this week, sources have now revealed. According to a report on TMZ, US Special Operations created the award for the canine, who is credited with helping to kill ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi during a raid in Syria late last month. A Special Ops spokesperson told the website on Saturday that the award does not have a name, but that it was crafted for Conan in lieu of a real Medal of Honor - which can only be awarded to citizens.

Comments:

No question, Conan is a boy dog.

I'm happy for the dog getting a medal, but dogs don't really understand honors like that. She'd have enjoyed a steak dinner more.

In Brit lingo, “one off” means custom made or one of a kind.

Someone in Congress should submit a bill to create dog medals in the same ranking as humans. Certainly would be easy enough. Ex: The Order of the Golden Paw for extreme heroism.

I think the Pentagon has an Institute of Heraldry that creates such awards following wonderful traditions passed down over many hundreds of years. They don't just 3-D Print some logo and attach it to a ribbon. I wouldn't doubt if they haven't had service animal medals waiting in the wings for quite some time.

Mike Bloomberg is considering making Hillary Clinton his running mate, a source close to his campaign has told Drudge Report. Polling found the Bloomberg-Clinton combination would be a formidable force to take on Trump in the race for the White House, the source said. Former New York City Mayor and Democratic candidate Bloomberg is said to be considering even changing his official residence from New York to Colorado or Florida - where he also has homes - because the electoral college makes it difficult for US president and vice-president to reside in the same state.
Brexit: Nigel Farage takes Britain out

Brexit goes through today, and Britain is finally independent, free from the clutches of the European Union. It's a great event regardless of how it happens, but in this case, it was cool beyond description. It all ended with a pretty amazing flourish, one that told us a lot about both the European Commission and newly sovereign Britain itself. Chief Brexiteer Nigel Farage made his last speech before the European Commission, which was a great scolding and call to shut down the whole operation altogether, which was subversive enough. But he drove it even further.

What an explosive week this has been in the aftermath of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bombshell announcement that they wish to ‘step back’ as senior royals. I share much of the anger, frustration and sorrow of the British public at their decision, which has been much-discussed over the past few days.  But there is one aspect of this drama that concerns and saddens me: the behaviour of Prince Harry, and what appears to be him turning his back on the Royal Family.  This is so out of character, and — as his biographer who knows him better than many — I fear something is seriously amiss.

In an op-ed published in The New York Times on Thursday, Carlson, 53, says her NDA prevents her from talking about the sexual harassment she was subject to at the hands of Roger Ailes, the late CEO and chairman of Fox News. Carlson said she felt like she secured a victory when the network allowed her to speak about harassment generally.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think that people who have unprotected sex with others without informing them that they’re HIV-positive are downright rude. Mind you, I’m not saying that Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is HIV-positive, but he is married to a dude and over his long and fruitful life of being an impenitent homo has likely spent hundreds of hours in dark and musty rooms in close proximity to the virus that causes AIDS.

Some of Barack Obama's departing White House aides left biting notes for their successors in the Trump administration including messages that read 'You will fail,' according to the president's press secretary. Stephanie Grisham told a Virginia radio host at the White House on Tuesday about finding the notes, and office cabinets brimming with Obama-authored books. 'We came into the White House—I'll tell you something, every office was filled with Obama books. And we had notes left behind that said "You will fail," "You aren't going to make it."

Despite Colorado handing Democrats control of both houses of the state Legislature, the governor's mansion, and three other statewide offices, its voters don't want the state to keep more of their money. A ballot measure to increase state revenue, Proposition CC, went down to strong defeat. A final count is not yet available, but Colorado Public Radio reports, "The measure was trailing by more than 100,000 votes when the AP called it shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday."

Given today’s downward cultural spiral, it’s disturbing but not surprising that the makers of a thoughtful new documentary about Jordan Peterson are having a hard time finding somewhere to show their film. Many mainstream and independent cinemas have refused to screen it because they’re “fearful of controversy” or “morally concerned.” One theater in Toronto cancelled a week-long showing after some of the staff “took issue with it.” A theater in Brooklyn cancelled a second screening, despite the fact that the first sold out and received good reviews, “because some staff were offended . . . and felt uncomfortable.”

Chicago’s mass transit system apologized this week after a tweet recognizing Abraham Lincoln for Black History Month sparked a backlash. The Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) official Twitter account retweeted a post with photos of a man dressed as the Great Emancipator waiting for the Red Line train. “In honor of Black History Month, Abraham Lincoln was seen making a guest appearance on the CTA,” the CTA wrote Wednesday, which was also Lincoln’s 111th birthday. The tweet was quickly deleted after users criticized the agency for celebrating a white man during Black History Month, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The Justice Department said Friday it will not pursue criminal charges against former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, after a nearly two-year-long investigation into accusations brought by the agency's independent watchdog who claimed that he lacked "candor" when questioned about leaking to the media. In a letter to McCabe attorney Michael Bromwich obtained by Fox News, Justice Department attorney J.P. Cooney said the investigation is now “closed.” “We write to inform you that, after careful consideration, the Government has decided not to pursue criminal charges against your client, Andrew G. (snip) Barr's DOJ has all but exonerated McCabe of any crimes -- indeed, on February 14, the DOJ indicated that it would not pursue charges against McCabe. It argued that other candidates, such as former vice president Joe Biden, received more coverage despite posting less impressive results in early primary states.

Now that as many as six serious Democratic candidates remain in the race, pundits increasingly believe the party is headed for a brokered convention. Hold on to your hats if that happens, because it’s even more complicated than it sounds. Presidential nominating conventions used to be “brokered” because the delegates were largely appointed by — and loyal to — political bosses. Delegates voted on multiple ballots as rivals vied for the bosses’ favor, making the quadrennial events the political equivalent of reality television. You could never be sure which governor or senator would be voted off the island and which would become the ultimate survivor.

New findings strongly suggest that, thanks in part to left-wing Judge Amy Berman Jackson, convicted former Trump campaign official and longtime political consultant Roger Stone’s guilt wasn’t determined last year by an unbiased jury but rather by one stocked with partisan left-wing operatives. Among the alleged operatives was former Tennessee Democrat congressional candidate Tomeka Hart, a far-left activist who’d been posting negative stories about President Donald Trump and his alleged (and since-debunked) Russian collusion crimes to social media long before she was selected to serve on Stone’s jury last November.
