A super PAC formed to support Cory Booker’s Democratic presidential campaign is shutting down. The group’s founder, San Francisco lawyer Steve Phillips, indicated in a news release Wednesday that Dream United had struggled to raise money. Booker, a New Jersey senator, has publicly disavowed support from super PACs, which aren't required to disclose their donors publicly. Phillips, a former college classmate of Booker’s, said that it became clear while trying to fundraise for Dream United "that the donor community is strictly adhering to Senator Booker’s publicly articulated wishes that he does not welcome independent support." The group raised a little

GREENVILLE, S.C. —Sen. Kamala D. Harris had everything she needed to make her pitch. Big yellow cutout letters spelled “Justice for the People” on the stage behind her. White folding chairs splayed out ahead of her, most of them filled, and their occupants seemed happy to see her. Nothing smelled of a flailing campaign. (Snip) As a result, her candidacy is now teetering, weighed down by indecision within her campaign, her limits as a candidate and dwindling funds that have forced her to retreat in some places at a moment she expected to be surging. After last week’s debate in

MSNBC contributor Donny Deutsch called 2020 presidential hopeful Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) "unlikable" on Wednesday's edition of "Morning Joe" before being accused of being "problematic" by fellow panelist Karine Jean-Pierre for only applying such a characterization to female candidates. "You can’t tell 160 million people you’re going to take something away that they already have," Deutsch, a marketing and branding expert and MSNBC contributor, said when discussing Warren's "Medicare for All" health care plan. "And I also think the electability thing. I’ve said this all along. I've taken some heat. I do not think she is electable." "I think she

President Trump tweeted out a fake photo of himself in a boxing ring, and chaos ensued on social media. The photo, which appears to be from the movie Rocky III starring Sylvester Stallone, has the president's face imposed on the Rocky actor's body. The president did not caption his Wednesday morning tweet. (Tweet) Trump did, however, reference his "gorgeous chest" during his Tuesday evening "Keep America Great" rally in Florida. While discussing his unannounced visit to Walter Reed hospital about a week ago, the president said the doctors told him to "show us that gorgeous chest." "We want to see

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Down, but not out, Sen. Kamala D. Harris is counting on some “black girl magic” here in South Carolina to help resurrect her flagging presidential bid. Ms. Harris has raised the stakes by going all-in in Iowa, but she hasn’t forgotten South Carolina, where she has spent the last few days promising to be a warrior for black women who have been showered with praise for the role they play in electing Democrats — only to see their everyday concerns get neglected. “Don’t just thank me, show me your thanks,” Ms. Harris said at a recent campaign

The Democratic Party of Arkansas had selected Joshua Mahony to run against Sen. Tom Cotton in next year’s election. However, minutes after the filing deadline for candidates had passed, Cotton’s campaign released significant oppo research which caused Mahony to withdraw from the race within a matter of hours. In fact, Mahony didn’t even talk to the party before announcing on Twitter that he was withdrawing from the race. Monday the Democratic Party announced that, after a failed attempt to find a path forward, it was simply too late to field a replacement candidate: “After exhaustive and careful examination with our

House Democrats have one final shot to drive up public support for impeachment, with a slate of hearings in the House Judiciary Committee beginning next week. But even Democratic lawmakers acknowledge public sentiment might be impossible to move in the weeks before an anticipated historic House vote on impeaching President Donald Trump. “I think people have made up their minds on this in a lot of ways,” said Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), a member of the House Judiciary Committee. “But I think, frankly, what should drive us is the evidence and the facts and our oath of office.” Many Democrats

Although it's far from a lead-pipe cinch, a plausible case is to be made that the former first lady Michelle Obama may enter the Democratic primary race. There are three reasons for believing this. First and most obvious is the current field of contenders for the Democrat nomination. As has often been said, they resemble occupants in a clown car that tumble out together for their periodic debates. The emotion that they instill in the general public is not one of enthusiasm but fear. The most seemingly stable among the Democrat field is former Vice President Joe Biden. But Slow Joe is
