As top 2020 Democratic candidates unveil plans to curb or reverse the spread of charter schools, many Black and Latino voters are asking why their voices aren't being heard, according to a New York Times report.
"As a single mom with two jobs and five hustles, I'm just feeling kind of desperate," Sonia Tyler told the Times. "They're brilliant; they're curious. It's not fair. Why shouldn't I have a choice?"
Tyler is seeking to enroll her children in a suburban charter school outside Atlanta, joining many other parents who have found in charters a lifeline to escape

Stick up for your kids! If you need help ask the President, he's on your side. The dems run by the teacher's union is not.

An education is freedom - that’s why the Dems oppose it.

So many excellent parochial schools close because of declining enrollment. Trump should offer tax credits to parents or scholarships that waive religious curriculum if desired, These schools have excellent records of graduates in higher education. Plus their teachers are not NEA union members so they actually teach.

The last thing Democrats want is for minority children to realize they can be successful without white liberals propping them up at every turn. Public schools will keep them educationally crippled.

#3, without a religious curriculum, a parochial school is not a parochial school. It becomes just another private school which will soon be overrun with leftist administrators and teachers. I’ve seen it happen.
Unmentioned in this article, but something that needs to be repeated daily to the black community is that messiah 0bama, upon entering the WH, ended school choice in DC which has some of the worst schools in the country. Then he turned right around and enrolled his daughters in the elite $40,000 per year Sidwell Friends school. All to keep that teacher’s union money flowing into his coffers. It was an act of pure evil and the demonrats should pay the price for it.

In other words, Democrats are pro-choice when it comes to killing children but not to educating them.

Here's a little secret about the battle between the Teacher's unions and Charter Schools. Because the Charter schools are part of the School District, the District has control of who is sent to Charter Schools.
The Districts have been dumping Special Needs students and pupils with discipline issues into the Charter schools to drive down the schools ability to teach to the brighter students the schools were designed for.

I recall a while back, people were camping out for days prior to enrolling their children in 3 charter schools in Santa Ana, CA school district. They were shining bright spots of opportunity, in a heavily Latino area.
A couple people complained they could not afford to take days (think of that type of commitment to provide a better opportunity for your child) off work to wait for that chance.
So, the school district simply eliminated those charter schools - likely at the behest of the teachers union.
Instead of looking to copy that same successful program, they decided it was better to return to what was before.
When you hear about how college educated people lean to the Democrat party, as if that's a good thing, that they know more, and know better, remember that every teacher is college educated which likely skews their statistic as a result.

I am looking into putting two grand nephews into private Christian schools ASAP. Bright kids not being challenged properly and too much Common Core garbage being taught. Gramma is a retired teacher in the same system, is advising that it may be time, the system that she taught in for a lifetime is going away fast. And this is in smaller city SE not in NYC or where you might expect it.
I want them to get a good education, not be indoctrinated by leftists from NEA.

Blacks and Latinos are waking up to the fact that demonrats want to keep them dumb and on the plantation so ergo, no charter schools. On the flip side of the coin, demonrats want to keep those teacher union campaign contributions flowing in. Demonrats see both sides as a win, win for them.
