Bill Kristol: Trump Is a

Hatred makes you crazy. There is perhaps no surer example of this principle than Never Trump stalwart Bill Kristol. Early Monday morning, he tweeted that another four years of Donald Trump would be more dangerous for free markets than four years of Elizabeth Warren as president. Not that Warren is anywhere near his first pick... "I very much prefer Biden or Buttigieg or Bloomberg or Klobuchar to Warren. But the idea that one term of Warren would pose anything like the threat of a second term for Trump to the basic norms and institutions of our liberal democracy, including to free markets, is laughable," Kristol insisted.

Hey Bill! Is this the same free market where we saw thousands of businesses and millions of jobs moved overseas? Thanks but no thanks. How much does our federal government spend a year? Over 4 trillion? No way can spending cuts and tax increases cover that. The United States requires a strong economy with businesses and jobs to pay for our federal government. Well, this is interesting. Attorney General Bill Barr is pushing back on IG Horowitz’s coming findings on the Trump-Russia investigation. Recent reports have said that Horowitz will find no political bias in the investigation despite ample evidence numerous high level officials had it out for Trump. As with the IG’s findings on the Hillary investigation, Horowitz’s standard is apparently an admission under oath and sealed in blood, as he found dozens of pieces of evidence of bias there but still concluded there was nothing conclusive.

It was getting towards an hour since we’d been marched out to the edge of the South Lawn to wait for the president. The cameraman, zooming in on the window, informed us that the other guy was Attorney General William Barr. Outside, the crisp fall dusk was punctured by the metallic roar of a helicopter engine. So far, no NFL team has reached out to him about a potential job. Kaepernick has been unemployed for three years. In 2016 he started kneeling during the national anthem as a protest of police brutality. His move angered fans but delighted political pundits who loved his anti-America message. Women, by contrast, tackled the question with more of a world view — with only 11 percent saying they’d rather their team score a championship.

President Donald Trump is simply not given the credit by a mostly antagonistic media for the things he has achieved, from helping to build an incredible economy to actually taking concrete and substantive steps to further American interests on other domestic and foreign policy. But in a case of very interesting timing, he just got some important praise from a very unexpected source, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) the vice-chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Warner was being interviewed on PBS’ “Firing Line” with Margaret Hoover on Friday when he gave Trump credit for allowing the U.S. to “punch back”

Forget whether the math works. (It doesn’t.) Expecting billionaires to pay for all the nice things is bad for democracy. One of the more exhausting rituals of presidential campaign season is the effort to make every new proposal “add up.” Sure, it’s better that politicians try to come up with a plan to pay for their wish lists. The problem is that the explanations are often a disguise that make the impossible seem possible, even practical. Fake budgets are the tribute that pandering pays to pragmatism. You could confiscate the wealth of every billionaire and centimillionaire in the country and it wouldn’t come close to paying

Clerics in the medieval Church did not have the luxury of literate pew-sitters. They, rather creatively, used the architecture, sculpture, and paintings in cathedrals to convey the biblical narrative to the unlettered faithful. Gothic architecture so arrests the modern eye not only for its structural and formalistic brilliance but also because the ornature itself narrates the story of salvation. The climate clerics have erected their own Biblia pauperum for the unwashed masses in San Francisco. One Atmosphere, an area non-profit, dedicated a mammoth mural yesterday of the teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.

California also has a Democratic governor and Democratic supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature. Only seven of California's 53 congressional seats are held by Republicans. In 1994, then-Gov. Pete Wilson backed Proposition 187, which denied state social services to undocumented immigrants. The spin goes that it backfired, alienated the Hispanic community and thus marked the road to Republican perdition.

Potato processors are rushing to buy supplies and ship them across North America in order to keep French fries on the menu after cold, wet weather damaged crops in key producers in the U.S. and Canada. Cool conditions started to hit growing regions in October, lashing potatoes with frost. Farmers in Alberta and Idaho were able to dig up some damaged crops for storage. But growers in Manitoba, North Dakota and Minnesota received snow and rain, forcing them to abandon some supplies in fields. As the wild weather hurt crops, an increase in fry-processing capacity in Canada has boosted demand. The combination will lead to tight supplies,

According to the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) — a liberal think tank affiliated with teachers’ unions — public-school teachers earn, on average, 21.4 percent less than private-sector workers in other fields who have similar educational and demographic characteristics. According to EPI, by offering higher pay, public schools could attract and retain better teachers, leading to better test scores, higher graduation rates, and better jobs for the future. It’s a compelling argument, at least to the news media, who echo it in their coverage. But if all that is true, why do private schools, even elite ones, pay teachers so little?

Sometime before Nadler starts things off at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Intelligence Committee chief Adam Schiff is supposed to send along his final report — which is apparently to be all the evidence the House will consider on the Ukraine matter, despite the near-complete lack of first-hand testimony. Judiciary is simply going to “consider” whether the wrongdoings that Schiff alleges actually constitute “constitutional grounds for impeachment,” with experts brought in to opine on whether President Trump’s actions warrant such a grave step.
