Outgoing Energy Secretary Rick Perry, 69, said he told President Trump he’s “the chosen one.”
Perry said Trump is not perfect but, “God’s used imperfect people all through history.”
“King David wasn’t perfect. Saul wasn’t perfect. Solomon wasn’t perfect. I actually gave the president a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings about a month ago. I shared it with him. I said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say, you know, you said you were the chosen one.’ And I said, ‘You were.’ If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government,”

Mine too, #1. We understand Perry's comments more fully if we remember that God is in charge of all of us and in charge all the time.

Truer words were never spoken. 2016 was a genuine miracle.
Now I await the final fulfillment of that miracle...having a majority of both blacks and Mexicans voting for Trump in 2020. Would prove that God is not only great, but also that He has a wicked sense of humor.

Of all of Trump's opponents on the Republican side in 2016, Rick Perry is the only one I still have a favorable opinion of. He was one of my top three choices. Scott Walker disappointed, and Ted Cruz did about as expected. Rick Perry (and Ben Carson) were the only Republicans I recall that never personally attacked Trump which was wise. Funny. Both ended up in the Trump cabinet.
Trump may have been picked by God. Maybe so was Obama. One was a good example of honest leadership. The other was a good example of a tyrant. God might have wanted the people of the United States to recognize the difference.

OP – Scripture is the inspired Word of God. God selects heads of nations. (Haggai 2:20-23; 1 Chronicles 14:2; Daniel 2:21, 4:17; Romans 13:1-2; Revelation 1:4-5)
Ancient Israelites told the aged prophet Samuel they wanted a king.(1Samuel8:22) The Lord told Samuel to agree with the request, but to warn the people about what a king will do. God often gives people what they want, but even more graciously, He gives people what they need—forgiveness, life, and salvation. This “need” includes His choice of heads of nations, for the good of His people; “the Lord sees the larger picture and achieves His objectives even through human error.” Therein is the explanation of some “unfortunate” heads of nations. God has blessed our nation with President Donald J. Trump.
Lastly, Romans 13:1-7 is about submission to governing authorities: “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment. ... For he is the servant of God,...”
“For kingship belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.”(Psalm22:28)

I think this is right. The only person who could roll back this Deep State horror show about to entirely engulf our country is now in the White House.

President Trump has been mentioned by name by a real, legitimate twentieth century prophet. His name was Kim Clement, who started as a rock and roll musician from South Africa. He was working his way up in the music industry when he found God and began having visions. In his visions, God came to him and said that he had chosen a leader for the United States. God said that this leader would be a "hard man, a man of 'hot blood', and that he would lead the world. God said that his Presidency would be assaulted relentlessly, but that none of his enemies would have an effect on him." Look him up. Kim Clement died in 2007, but lived long enough to see his prophesy born out. He has a series of YouTube videos, and an entire YouTube station dedicated to his sermons, including at least one video from 2014 when he mentioned Trump by name. His prophesies are very detailed and so far have been extremely accurate. It is because of his sermons that I am supremely confident that Trump will win, and the nation will prosper.

We all were Rick. Even though I sometime don't understand why. Even Democrats. Maybe they're just cat toys.

My understanding of God is that He makes things happen or allows things to happen. I see a big difference here, but it in no way diminishes the fact that He is in complete control of all results of human behavior -- almost exactly like raising children.

I always liked Governor Perry. Can't say if DJT was the "chosen one" but I don't decry it either.

Obama was a warning from God, and that is the way in which he was ''placed'' at the head of our nation. We will suffer harm each and every time our leadership abuses Israel. Israel isn't a perfect nation, but the Jews are the Apple of God's Eye. Obama kept poking it. While you are looking into biblical kings, check out Ahab and his lovely Babylonian wife, Jezabel. King Jehu took care of both of them!

#8, sorry, but by Romans 13 that you quote, this country could never have existed.
Sometimes God helps those who overthrow the government, too. Ask any Redcoat.

It's true. God chooses leaders. He chooses nations. He chose to heat the earth by the sun when He could have used the clouds. Because God is sovereign, everyone is chosen by God for whatever they happen to be doing at any given moment. It's not as big a deal as we all think. I was chosen by God to write this post, as you are chosen to write yours or read ours. It's a blessing every day to acknowledge that He chose PDT or such a time as this.

#19- Scripture interprets Scripture and it is the entirety of Scripture that should guide the lives of believers. In God’s delegated authority (Romans 13:1) the question becomes, what if someone in authority commands a person to do something which is contrary to what God has commanded. In such a circumstance, a believer is not to obey the one in authority even though there may be a harsh consequence for disobedience. Religious leaders commanded Peter and the other disciples not to preach or teach in Jesus’ name. Peter could not comply with the command because it was contrary to the Lord’s command. Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29) Whenever man’s command conflicts with God’s command, believers must obey God.
We must not only obey God, but we must also obey God's delegated authorities--the people God puts over us. The Bible says, “Obey your leaders and submit to them, ...” (Hebrews 13:17)
“Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, ...” (Titus 3:1)

Don't understand why Perry spoke first about 0bama "picked by God". I don't find that true at all because in doing so, our Creator would be affirming the dRATS infanticide party abortion stance. But, I have often thought that President Trump was somehow placed in the White House as a former non-political person. A true believer only has to see his expedited placing of constitutional Federal judges to bring back the original "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" meme. We, of Faith, all know that it is imperative to be a beacon of His Teachings by our actions. In that, I now see in President Trump.
