Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman — the Soviet-born impeachment witness being championed by Democrats — is demanding that Fox News “retract and correct” an opinion that attorney/law professor John Yoo stated on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News opinion show. Vindman’s lawyer, David Pressman (a former Obama aide), slammed Yoo’s suggestion that some people might think that Vindman could have committed espionage when he advised Ukraine while undermining Trump’s policies while working in the Trump White House. In the letter, Vindman’s attorney wrote:

Does this mean we can sue CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC and CBS plus the WaPo and the NYT because their writers and pundits statements might cause some people to think that President Trump did something illegal?

Vindman should get off the stage. He has beclowned himself and now he presses on, regardless… In addition to all of his other obvious flaws, he is not too bright.

Perhaps some kind soul at Fox could fax over a copy of the First Amendment to this idiot "lawyer", for his edification.

If the Pentagon was not full of Obama flag officers, Vindman would be facing a court martial for ignoring the chain of command, participating in partisan political actions, and violating military whistleblower directives. Apparently, Vindman believes that he's a civilian diplomat with the authority to contradict Administration policies!

Guess what Prissy Pants? This is what comes from your 15 mins. of fame. Better hurry back to your basement office and get your personal items before they finish cleaning it out. Your next post is on the DEW Line.

At the very least he should be discharged for insubordination. He said he went "over the president's head" (not literally) to Zelensky himself. Talk about someone who doesn't follow the chain of command!

Some people know when to stop talking but Lt. Col. Chubby Prissy Pants doesn't know when he's in hot water.
What should happen is a good old military court martial for not following orders from the CiC.

And how close was Col.Vindman to the action, back when he was 'in Theater'? Did he actually confront enemies, or clerk around miles and miles from the action? In WWII, my Dad was under one of these self-important Bought-and-Paid-For Officers. He was a bigot, and a coward. But in the big picture, a 'hero' like the other Americans he sent into danger.
Vindman looks like a chipmunk would be a credible threat to him.

#15, Vindman was apparently a captain when he was in Iraq, should have had an infantry company. I'd love to hear from Army veterans on how much an infantry captain did actual combat in Iraq, I am sure it varied considerably. He got a Purple Heart, wounded in an IED roadside bomb explosion, which was not serious enough to leave the theater of war, he finished out his one year tour in country.
So, no way of knowing how much actual combat action he has ever seen, maybe he was a paper pushing Captain Deskbound, or maybe he was out leading troops on the ground. Until we hear from someone who actually served under him, we can't know.

As much as Vindman is despised, it doesn't matter how close he was to the action or not, or commanding an infantry company or not in terms of his performance. Only his superiors could officially evaluate that and put it in his records. His basic branch is infantry and since he was in a combat zone, he gets to wear a combat unit patch (the 25th Infantry Division if I'm not mistaken) and the CIB. Clerks, supply types, etc. also get to wear a combat unit patch. Others may be awarded a combat action badge if they are not infantry but have seen action. However, moving into a Foreign Area Officer job may, I stress may be an indicator that back in 2008 he was going as far as he could get in Infantry branch, and went to being a FAO. This is what we term a functional area. Many officers who will likely not advance in their basic branch will go into their functional area to increase promotion chances. Vindman has had no real connection to the infantry since 2008 except to wear the brass. When he became more interested in his Ukraine roots rather than serving the US was before or after he became a FAO is anyone's guess. As a FAO he nominally is rolled up into SoS and intel. Not exactly an upstanding bunch of Americans.
One other thing. IMO, the genesis of the officer corps transformation as a political entity was during the Clinton admin, but zippy sure perfected it.

I believe that Vindman could very well have been involved in espionage. He may not have figured out that that was what it was… His pal Eric Ciaramella was the smart one. He just spilled everything he heard to Ciaramella. The whistleleaker, as one writer characterized him.
