A speech by former Reagan administration official Arthur Laffer was shut down by protesters at Binghamton University in New York on Monday, resulting in two arrests.
The university issued a statement condemning the individuals who disrupted and ultimately shut down a lecture by Mr. Laffer, who served as an economic adviser to the late President Ronald Reagan and was recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump.

The university should now proceed to expel any students involved in the protests, fire any faculty who participated, and call for the arrest of any outside agitators who infiltrated the event.

Maybe they were just advocating that 'Free Speech' means no one should be paid for speaking - well maybe? But until such behavior results in dismissal from school under a strictly enforced code of conduct - nothing will change. Because, in truth, the students are simply doing what their Progressive puppetmaster professors have advocated.

when are we going to see federal civil rights prosecutions over these coordinated efforts to deny people their right to free speech?

Fascists do what fascists gotta do. They cannot abide political opposition and will suppress it by any means at hand.

I can't begin to express how essential Arthur Laffer's is to our political discourse. He is probably the most critical voice to shut down for the Left, although I'd be surprised if they actually realize it. The notion that they can raise taxes and get more to spend on anything is a complete farce and Laffer is our generations best voice to illustrate that. In reality we are well past the point where the smothering effects on the economy of higher taxes outstrips the proportional increase of the shrunken pie. The left must rely on the belief that they can take more without the market reacting, as if the pie won't shrink. History, and common sense tell us otherwise and Laffer who articulates that so well must be silenced.

The only valid protest to ANY economist's speech is that he's an economist. Yawn, wake me up when the band starts.

They cannot have the facts of economics leaking out and destroying all their Marxist propaganda that they have worked years to fool people with.

SUNY Binghamton students must believe in the Free Stuff economy, so real economists are not welcome. Wow, to have Arthur Laffer speak at you school. What a treat for the students and faculty alike. To have these knuckleheads ruin it.

Silencing economists like Laffer is how you get graduates with Economics degrees like AOC.

Demons tried to keep Jesus from speaking too. It's clear that the left is scared poop-less about Laffer's supply-side economics, which WORKS!

If these commie totalitarians ever got into positions of national power, they would establish gulag camps here in the US.

Why would the nattering nabobs of negativism want to shout down a reliably upbeat and pleasant speaker like Laffer?
Puzzling.

SUNY Binghamton has a strong neo-marxist flavor to it, moreso than other schools.

Laffer told Fox this morning the protesters didn't know who he was. They were just shutting him down as qua Republican I guess. Laffer couldn't figure it out. He also said in his many years on campuses never had anything like this occur. With no hyperbole these protesters were truly idiots.

You can get a good pension from BU. Think that's about it. The best jobs in the state tend to be state government jobs.
Love how the left wants free speech, and at the same time, silences those they don't like. Whatever the left wants will not benefit anyone else, and it certainly is not free speech. Hypocrites, bullies, liars, thieves, and tyrants.
There can be a national economic recovery, but it will never hit Binghamton, New York. Its in a permanent economic depression due to leftist policies at the state level and at the city level. Been in the area over 25 years. I've seen it.

Video footage revealed the protesters were shouting 'free speech, free speech, free speech...' at the same time they were keeping Mr. Laffer from speaking. Could there possibly be more irony than that?
