So which is worse, pushing for investigation of criminal wrong-doing, or demanding a cover-up of criminal activity? The latter took down Richard Nixon, while the former will take down Donald Trump? Clearly, Republican Presidents just can't win.

I can understand why the bureaucrats were irritated with Rudy...a couple of weeks ago, I would have gladly strangled Sir Rudy because in every interview he just wouldn't shut up and would go on and on and on about the most complicated stories about Ukraine, the Bidens and Burisma. He couldn't explain it in a concise story. Agree with #1. Foreign aid should always be a quid pro quo. For too long, dumb US Presidents would just shovel money all over the world with no strings attached and then they couldn't understand why countries always sided with the Communists. Remember New World Order???

He said the QPQ was from Rudy, and he presumed Rudy was thus speaking for the President. If the Ukrainians didn't know there was something being withheld, how can they have an actual Quid pro Quo? However, he also didn't know the aid was being held up until July 18th, and the Quid and the Quo never did happen, it was something that never actually did happen. And, just because someone hope, wishes, or even demands they should link X with Y, but if neither happens then do you really have much more than bluster?

So, Trump will be charged with wanting to investigate the high crimes of Joe Biden. Will be an impeachment first. With neither the Bidens nor Eric Ciaramella called to testify. Meanwhile, AG Barr gives a speech about rather than indictments to the Obama and Clinton crime syndicates. Justice is blind. As well as deaf and dumb.

I thought Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland was very slick in his testimony, but I thought there was one instance where the mask slipped a little, when he testified at some point, that Ukraine had asked him "Where's my check?" The President is a businessman, so when he spends money, basically it is his own; whereas, all these government people are accustomed to spending taxpayers' money rather than their own money. The President was beginning his dealings with a newly elected Head of State of a country that has a very long history of corruption; a country whose leaders had maligned him in U.S. publications before the 2016 election and said they would prefer that Hillary Clinton win the Presidency; a country that, today it was testified, often makes promises and then does not keep them; a country that was Vice President's providence when he was in office and obviously was in a position to know about the "endemic" corruption in the country; and a country that was seeking "security assistance" of $400 million dollars (in testimony, they always say "security assistance", but they never say the amount, so I hope the amount is correct). The President was only asking for a few things before he released the $400 million dollars to the Ukraine: a commitment - in public -(since previously they made promises that were not kept) that Ukraine would investigate their role in the 2016 election (effectively, acknowledging that they had interfered in our election process by admitting that many in their hierarchy did not want Trump to win); a commitment that Ukraine would make good efforts to clean up the corruption in their country; and a commitment that one of the companies that would be investigated for corruption would be an energy company called, Burisma, which everyone acknowledged needed to be cleaned up. If the President was to commit $400 million dollars in taxpayers' money to Ukraine, he wanted to make sure before he "sent the check" that it would be money well-spent. I think that what he did was wise and proper and something that a Chief of State is elected to do.

It's obvious that our diplomats do not understand negotiation. Apparently, they would rather cave to the foreigners than support our country and our president. Asking about an investigation into election crimes and quid pro quo of former government officials is not unethical- even if it was contingent on anything! Prosecutors offer quid pro quo all the time. Flip, and give them the goods on a subject and they will treat you special. It is obvious that the diplomatic corps believes they are in charge, and that policy is to be ignored, unless they personally agree with it. Also, Vindeman said the lawyer told him not to tell the boss, or anyone else! What authority does a lawyer have to override the chain of command, the President, or the head of the State Department? Especially a Lt Col in the Army? That is not a flag rank, and carries no different consideration than any other Lt Col! He should be court martialed and punished to the full extent of the UCMJ. His actions against the President and the American citizens is far beyond things that Lt Col's are routinely punished for. He is a disgrace to the uniform!

Hmm. IIRC, Lt Col (Do you know how important I am?) Vindman was concerned that Trump wasn't doing enough to get Ukraine to look into corruption in their country. My Ukrainian friends have been very concerned about how it would ever be possible to end the corruption in Ukraine, telling me that it was totally pervasive, to the point that they could see no way to end it. Maybe Trump is the way to end it.

Wait just a cotton-picking minute: The former Secretary of State and her friends in government essentially PAID a foreign agent to investigate Mr. Trump and the Trump Family. Under that regime, then-presidential candidate Donald Trump had his office telephone lines bugged. The government was used by a political opponent for the purpose of preventing Mr. Trump's election. And there was no evidence that Mr. Trump and company were doing anything illegally. Yet . . . Mr. Trump, who had legitimate concerns about corruption involving the Bidens, should not have asked Ukraine to look into the matter. THIS MAKES NO SENSE! But of course it doesn't! Democrats do not make sense. A lying pack of thieving thugs, that lot!

Clearly Ambassador Sondland’s top agenda item today before the Democrat created impeachment inquisition was to cover his own butt. The Republicans should be asking Adam Schiff exactly what law prohibits an elected US President the absolute right to request a foreign country’s government that is receiving large amounts of US foreign aid and military assistance to investigate the rampant political corruption that has been known to have been going on in that country, no matter if US citizens are suspected to be involved or not? In this instance the Democrats are claiming it is improper for the President to put a temporary hold on a large amount of US foreign aid dollars to the government of Ukraine until the government the satisfied the President of that country will investigate politically based corruption and cooperate with the US Attorney General relative to investigations that he is known to be conducting. But there is no law saying exactly when that specific foreign aid was to be released to Ukraine. The law only says that money appropriated by Congress must be dispensed during the fiscal year that they money was appropriated and that law was complied with by the Trump Administration. Clearly the Democrats are trying to shield former Vice-President Biden, his son Hunter Biden and other Democrat connected individuals from being investigated for their corrupt activities in Ukraine, of which there is proof, including Joe Biden’s public admission of doing what the Democrats are now accusing Trump of doing, holding up US foreign aid money to Ukraine. At the time the Trump Administration activities concerning the investigations of the Biden’s took place that the Democrats are now investigating, Joseph Biden was not Trump’s official political opponent and still is not. Because at that time Biden had not yet even announced that he was running for the 2020 Democrat nomination for President and still he will not be Trump’s official Democrat opponent until after he secures that Democrat nomination next Summer, and that may well never happen. Remember Barack Obama has not backed Biden and instead has encouraged his buddy Deval Patrick to enter the Democrat primaries. Besides there is no US law that exempts any US political candidate from being investigated for prior politically based corruption because he or she decides to run again for election. In this case there is a good chance that some US foreign aid money deposited in the Ukrainian Central Bank then traveled to the Ukrainian energy company that was paying off the Biden’s and then into Hunter Biden’s pockets. If Trump did not want that suspected corruption investigated he would be derelict in his presidential duties.

Wow, pushing investigation. Who knew you could impeach a president for "pushing" and investigation. I would think that if Ukrainian elements interfered in the 2016 election for either side everybody in the US would want to know. I also think that if an apparent case of corruption between the Vice President of the United States, his son and several other ubersons of democratic pols would and should be investigated for proof of guilt or innocence. Apparently the Democrats, know that innocence is not the likely result of the investigation.

Since announcing his candidacy for President in 2015, Donald Trump has dominated the national news cycle — largely to the benefit of legacy media companies. As a growing amount of their airtime centered upon their hatred of the businessman turned politician, many witnessed sharp increases in their audience sizes. The New York Times, for instance, saw more subscriptions in the last three months of 2016 than all of 2015 combined. During election week in 2020, CNN saw a 135% increase in viewership over the first week of November 2019. After the inauguration of President Biden, however, legacy media saw double-digit drops in their viewership.

Democrats call their current massive spending bill a "COVID relief" bill, but the half-trillion-dollar bailout of state governments has nothing to do with COVID-19 relief. Plenty of states are doing poorly fiscally, but generally, this has nothing to do with the pandemic and everything to do with their own mismanagement. This was a disputed point back in the spring, but no more. The numbers are in. The coronavirus has not left most states struggling for revenue the way people originally expected. The Congressional Budget Office is anticipating 4.6% economic growth in 2021.
