GLAAD, an organization that seeks to accelerate “acceptance of the LGBT community” in American culture, released its 2019 report, Where We Are on TV, and applauded the TV and cable entertainment industries for adding more LGBT characters to their programs.
“Of the 879 regular characters scheduled to appear on broadcast scripted primetime television this season, 90 (10.2 percent) are LGBTQ,” states the report. (Emphasis added.)
There are also some 30 recurring LGBTQ characters, making a total of 120. That’s up from last year’s 113 regular and recurring LGBTQ roles.

Way to lose viewers! I don't do well with Hollywood cramming their social agenda down my throat. We won't watch, There is a reason why Hallmark Channel does so well.

TV is also adding more mixed-race couples to shows and ads. Talking about "leading cultural change..."

I've noticed that, too, #4. As a matter of fact, I am going to start protesting because MY demographic is nearly invisible, with the exception of ExLax or Depends ads. I think ageism is the last socially acceptable form of discrimination out there and I'm sick of being invisible. So I think we should form an #OldPeopleAnyColorMatter group and demand that commercials start showing us surfing or skiing or buying a Corvette or a Tesla or sitting in a college lecture or or or or or. We exist; Quit hiding us.
Boomers have a demographic that is at least 10x as large as LBQWhatever but the media quietly tucks US away.

And racist Hollywood still likes to add black and brown people to a movie cast just so they can kill them, some form of clan style, early in the movie.

Interesting. We just finished watching the final episode of "Jane the Virgin". Altogether, an excellent story I highly recommend. But, one of the things that had me wondering was the number of same-sex relationships portrayed. You'd think that the same-sex proportion of the population was 30-40%!

And this is exactly why i refuse to watch any show that has any of this nonsense displayed. In particular, there is a rash of tv shows that are highlighting young kids that are discovering they are gay or are confused about their gender. Just do not watch!!

Related: Pepto-Bismol has stopped running TV ads solely with black actors, which I think is a good move (no pun intended).

Hollywood doesn't care if a certain demographic doesn't watch or any demographic for that matter. The days of market driven ad revenue are long gone. Some moneybags will sponsor these shows for the propaganda value so to hell with Johnson and Johnson if it doesn't get an increase in sales.

People still watch TV? Our hobbies keep us way too busy to waste any precious time. The wife does stained glass and quilting. I do wood working, PS4 and Ham radio. Life is way too short to support Leftists by watching TV.

Thinking about it, I can't think of a single network show I watch. There is nothing that interests me, and plenty that turns me off. The old movies and TV shows are available on several channels. It's refreshing to watch programs that have no political or contemporary social message.

488 of them, huh? I could not name a single one. Not a single one. Clearly I don't watch much television.

On the rare occasions Wifey & I watch TV, we can predict that the crime was committed because of some secretive 'gay' affair. It's routine.

Bravo, #12! I quit watching TV about 18 years ago. I’m a hand embroiderer and spend my time creating beautiful pieces of needlework. The closest I get to watching TV is to put a Downton Abbey DVD on so I can listen to it as I stitch.

We don't watch much TV. My wife likes the HGTV stuff and we watch some FOX but that's about it. You can find and stream great stuff from the internet and certain services. Not Netflix though. I dropped them when they hired the Obamas plus their lineup is old and stale now. There is more good stuff elsewhere than I can find time to watch.

I've noticed over the years that the shows apparently have a punch-list to be filled. Seems they all must have bumbling, totally uncool.unhip white male, smarter-than-smart woman putting down the white male, people-of-color who are cooler-than-cool and, now, a gay character who's way over the top. Have also noticed a few trans characters showing up as well.

I used to enjoy "Major Crimes" because the interaction between Flynn and Provenza was a hoot and there were some good stories for a time. Then they brought in a gay teenage prostitute for a specific case and he became a regular cast member.
There was no reason for him to be a regular except it allowed the producers to check a box and feel good about themselves. At that point they lost me as a viewer. I have no idea if that show is still on; I don't care.

I ditched NCIS: New Orleans, after watching for about four years, every show, when they brought in the nasty broad from NY who turns out to be a lesbian. Haven't watched in years.
And I will do exactly the same to any show that adds a homosexuals. Not going to support that garbage.

As soon as a show shoves a homosexual character in our faces, they lost two viewers at our house.
For the longest, I probably watched HGTV more than any other channel. But ever since it apparently started standing for the "Homosexual Gay TV" channel, I can't remember the last time I watched it. Since Chip and Joanna Gaines ended their run, there is nothing on that channel that doesn't constantly shove homosexual "couples" in our faces. No thank you. At least the Gaines never did a homosexual couple on their show.
