Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg eschews jet travel based on her opposition to greenhouse-gas emissions, but her return trip to Europe isn’t entirely carbon-neutral. Twelve weeks after sailing into New York City, Greta hitched a ride back to Europe Wednesday with celebrity sailers Elayna Carausu and Riley Whitelum on La Vagabonde, a luxury catamaran made of petroleum products like fiberglass.(Snip) Greta’s father Svante Thunberg and British yachtswoman Nikki Henderson joined the La Vagabonde crew, raising questions about whether they flew across the pond only to sail back. In addition to solar and hydro power, the craft is equipped with two diesel

Where's all the heat from climate change she's always whining about ??? In the photo she's bundled up like Nanook of the North. Poor little thing is gonna freeze her butt off in the North Atlantic in winter.

Let's not lose sight of the good news here....she is returning home.
Perhaps she can set Europe straight on a few things, if she survives the journey.

Great. More plastic trash floating in the ocean. I thought this homely little twit's 15 minutes of fame was over months ago. Why was she still in the U.S. after all this time? She was in the one country that does more to reduce and recycle trash than any other country in the world. How about sending her sorry butt to China.

Greta deary. You will find that the Winter North Atlantic has its own special load line on ships for a good reason. It brings new meaning to living a GREEN lifestyle.

I was about to say the same as #10. Crossing the North Atlantic in winter ought to be a REALLY fun trip, especially on that flimsy little "yacht!!" Hope they packed extra Dramamine and barf bags!!

If she gets tossed overboard, one wonders if she'll learn to appreciate greenhouse-gas emitting ships when (if?) they rush to her rescue.
HOW DARE YOU!!!
Sorry, I couldn't resist (I find her scolds hilarious; personally, I think she should come back and scold the Dumb-Dimms some more! That was priceless)!

I can't decide what to root for more: a Gilligan's Island type shipwreck or an Amelia Earhart shipwreck. Out of sight, out of mind.

A 45 foot “luxury catamaran” weighing 17, 400 lbs is not “flimsy” and fiberglass is the material of choice for many boats and yachts of various sizes.
But the diesel backup engines, the fact that fiberglass is a petrochemical material (not exactly “plastic” as we think of it) and other factors, make this “green voyage” anything but.
The whole thing has been a gigantic scam...

What? You expect liberal loons to appreciate the idiotic irony of their mascot being being shipped home on a diesel powered, plastic boat? They are too dense for that. Otherwise they would be too smart to fall for Alarmist warming to begin with.

What a great visual - a 45 foot boat getting bounced around on the North Atlantic seas in winter! She could wind up as Orca lunch.

The glass fiber itself isn't a petroleum product, but the polyester resin (or possibly vinylester or epoxy resin) are 100% from oil and/or natural gas.
The Child of the Damned is a hypocrite, too.

The article was hilarious. Thanks for posting. Of course, the hypocrisy of sailing home on a multi-million dollar 17,000+ ton pile of petrochemical material complete with twin diesel engines, and the fact that the lovely (/s) Greta arrived on an equally expensive and farcical yacht (owned by the late Princess Grace's grandson, no less) will not be reported by 90% of the media covering this scolding ignorant little girl.

This time of year what course will they sail? Will they go south and then east or will they follow the Gulf Stream north & then east? And yes, it is a small boat. I have sailed across twice in an refurbished troop ship (February no less) and it took a week. And we had a horrible storm for 2 days. This boat will take how long?

Not one word of this fantasy voyage do I believe. I believe there will be photo ops of the little Hillary-Wannabe boarding the vessel. I believe the vessel will transit the ocean. I DO NOT believe the little immature female passenger will still be aboard. Nor would she land by airplane anywhere near where she lives. She will be flown to a close port city and ride the waves the last few nautical miles. Remember the lady who won the Boston or the NYC marathon by popping out of the bushes with the first few winners? It is a fantastic voyage, so stick with your imagination.

#19, 17,000 tons.....no, that must be pounds. No way it could be tons.
A Vincennes class cruiser weighs about 14,000 tons fully loaded and is just under 600 ft long and is an all steel warship.

Wouldn't want to be on a modern cruise ship in the North Atlantic much less a 45 footer. She's going to have a grand old time.

If they are even halfway sane, they will NOT sail the most direct trade winds, the way sailers have been crossing the Atlantic for centuries. The trades run north along the east coast when going east, the north Atlantic would be really miserable and fairly dangerous this time of year extremely cold water and danger of lots of ice building up on the ship. They'll probably head southeast and by mid Atlantic should pick up Horse Latitude trades running NE towards southern Europe in warmer seas this time of year.
The old square riggers couldn't run too close to the wind, so needed to run generally downwind, where a modern fancy yacht like this one can run pretty close hauled and make good headway, so probably will do a bunch of close hauled running, which is fast, and run some long tacks,
