Washington - Jared Kushner and other senior Trump administration officials are planning to set up web cameras to live-stream construction of President Donald Trump's border wall, going against objections from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and senior U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, according to four people familiar with the White House proposal. "There will be a wall cam, and it'll launch early next year," said a senior White House official involved in the initiative, which aims to rally public support for hundreds of miles of new border barrier Trump wants in place by next year's election.

DON'T READ ARTICLE. Same basic outright lies and attacks. Just important to confirm there'll be a new channel worth watching. Must see, TV. I'll be tuning in on Internet. Might catch some jackass trying to cut through it.

Thanks to the poster for the heads up. I've been looking for news on the border wall. The blackout in coverage MUST be because construction is going well, possibly ahead of schedule and under budget, and is working. I mean, what else could it be?

London - The United Kingdom is spiraling toward authoritarianism and fascism, according to former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Speaking at an event at Kings College on Wednesday, the former Democratic presidential candidate said the reluctance of high-profile women to run for Parliament, amid an increase in online and real-world abuse, showed how toxic British politics had become. (Snip) "If people are intimidated out of running for office in a democracy because of these hatemongers on the left or the right, motivated by whatever, that's the path of authoritarianism, that's the path of fascism —

The 22 year-old entrepreneur and younger sister of Snap Inc. founder Evan Spiegel, has founded a startup called Quinn, a website for audio erotica. Spiegel hopes Quinn, which is launching officially on Thursday, will become the go-to place for what she calls “the internet’s best-kept secret.” (Snip) “Audio porn really gets at the sort of non-obvious intangible parts of sex that visual porn just doesn’t get at it in the same way,” Spiegel said. Quinn is the latest addition to a growing adult podcast market. In the last five years, venture capital funds have plowed $1.6 billion into audio-tech companies,

It’s a go. Shareholders voted on Thursday to approve a deal that would join the two largest newspaper chains in the United States, all but guaranteeing the creation of a newspaper colossus that is likely to result in thousands of layoffs. The combination of GateHouse Media and Gannett — already the two largest newspaper owners in the country, by both number of papers and print circulation, according to researchers at the University of North Carolina — means that more than 260 dailies and 300 weekly newspapers will be run by the same company. The merger is expected to reach formal completion on Tuesday, the companies said in a statement

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that agreement on a new North American trade deal is “imminent” and she would like to pass it by year’s end. Pelosi’s comments at a news conference represented her most optimistic assessment to date on negotiations to replace the 25-year-old North American Free Trade Agreement with a new deal that would improve environmental and labor standards. House Democrats have been negotiating for months with the Trump administration to reach agreement, but it’s proven elusive so far. “It all comes down to enforcement,” Pelosi said.

Washington - China is lifting a five-year ban on U.S. poultry, a goodwill gesture at a time when the world’s two biggest economies are trying to finalize a tentative trade deal. China had blocked U.S. poultry imports a month after an outbreak of avian influenza in December 2014, closing off a market that bought more than $500 million worth of American chicken, turkey and other poultry products in 2013. (Snip) The decision out of Beijing is effective immediately and the announcement sent shares of major U.S. chicken processers, Sanderson Farms, Tyson Foods and Pilgrim’s Pride to new highs for the year Thursday.

A California board voted to enact tougher energy efficiency standards for lightbulbs, pushing back against a rollback from the Trump administration. A new rule from the Department of Energy (DOE) eliminates energy efficiency standards for half the bulbs on the market, a move critics say will make the U.S. a dumping ground for energy-sucking, cost-ineffective bulbs. The vote from the California Energy Commission essentially bars sales of incandescent and halogen bulbs by adopting stronger energy efficiency standards. The state banned the sale of such pear-shaped bulbs in 2018, but the rule will now extend to all other shapes of bulbs —

There’s no doubt Kanye West has found religion. Listen to the musically arresting “Jesus is King,” and you’ll hear a powerful, positive case for a personal relationship with G-d. But will secular Americans heed his call? Considering that we’re living in historically peaceful and prosperous times, it’s notable how misery stalks many Americans like a shadow. Countless government programs have tried to fix what ails us, at least since the Great Society got going, and it never quite works. That’s why I’m hoping Kanye’s music will inspire more Americans to join his religious journey.
