The title of a feature article Tuesday in The Daily Beast by the author of a new book is bad enough: “9 Reasons to Thank the USSR: How We Got the Cold War Wrong.” As anti-Communist historian and author Diana West tweeted about it, “Can't recall reading anything more appalling on more levels.” The Beast is appalling enough on a daily basis, alright, but this article and the book it summarizes should scare the living daylights out of every patriot out there.
The 800-word article, and the 512-page book it is drawn from, Someone Is Out to Get Us: A Not So Brief History of Cold

The youth in America will buy into this crap because the last generation or two has been reprogrammed to believe it. I don’t have a clue how we turn this around.

The USSR signed a non-aggression pact with Hitler and joined him in splitting several small countries. Then, they continued to trade with the Japanese until the very last days of the War.

I noticed that right after the War, the Soviets shut down Berlin. How? I lived it. I noticed that later the Soviets invaded Hungary after months of protest against the tyranny there. I was in the military then, I saw it happening. So much for "saving" democracy? Besides that, the USA is a democratic Republic, it is not a "democracy".

The left has never heard of the Katyn Forest massacre, when in 1940 the "savior of democracy" split up Poland with the help of the Nazis and systematically executed 3000 Polish officers and state officials.

We have our WWII history wrong alright. WWII was all about who was going to conquer the world and implement one world socialism, Hitler or Stalin. Stalin won because he artfully sucked the free West into joining his side. Of course the West was going to have to join the fight or cease to exist, at least face the eventual winner. It was like joining one side in a gang war that was being fought over who gets to rule the turf you live on.
We joined Stalin, Stalin won. The conquest of the Western world never stopped. The "Cold War" was nothing but a continuation of that conquest with the occasional hot spots like Korea and Vietnam. The reality, we were still fighting the same war of resistance to the conquest of the free world. The same war is going on right now and that my friends is what's happening today as they talk of impeachment.
The war has taken on different forms as the situation changed. We had the bomb so the USSR changed tactics. Then of course FDR saw to it that they had the bomb which assured that we would have to resist the communist conquest differently that we might otherwise have birthing the Cold War.
Same war, and we are facing that winner we supported. The fall of the USSR was a pause but the things they set in motion are alive and well, things set in motion here in the US of A.

It's true. For example, what Nikita Khrushchev actually said was "We will carry you".
The Soviets have always been the avatars of decency and humane altruism. Stalin, Berea and the gulags were made up by Hollywood.

Shutting down on human freedom like the Soviets did, starving them with famine like the Soviets did, is not saving democracy. But then, the democrats refuse to concede that we don't live in a democracy do we? We have a representative republic, and woe on us if that ever changes to a democracy like the morons want.

The Soviets were certainly not LGBTQ or 'diversity' friendly. Communism seeks to crush all differences. How does that play with today's snowflakes?

Reverse the logic; we actually helped save the Soviets.
Yes, they did most of the heavy lifting, and we would have paid an extremely high price defeating the nazis had the soviets been knocked out. But Hitler could not devote his full resources to fighting the USSR as long as we were in the fight.
Stalin had a non-aggression pact with Hitler, probably hoping that Germany, France, and Britain would get into another protracted slogging match like they did in the first war. If that had happened, all 3 would have been so drained after a couple of years that Stalin could have just waltzed into whatever eastern European country he chose with little resistance. But Germany's unexpected quick victory against France ruined that.
Had Britain given in, or had we not joined in, Hitler would have had much greater resources to use against the USSR. They barely held on as it was, and very likely would have been defeated if Hitler had not been forced to guard against our eventual return to the mainland.
As for the soviets "saving" democracy? Well just tell that to the people of Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, and Czechoslovakia. I'm sure they would wholeheartedly agree. /sarc

Number 5, you have it exactly right. We thought Communism would go away with the fall of the USSR, but the "fellow travelers" have never given up the fight throughout the Western democracies. Obama was supposed to start the fundamental transformation, and his chosen successor, Hillary, continue it. But too many Americans so through it and elected the only oppositional fighter, Trump. Now all of the forces of world-wide, and especially domestic, socialism/communism, are arrayed against him. Obama made sure that the intelligence community was loaded with like-minded bureaucrats and management, who had a plot set up to take down whatever Republican might have won, then focused it all on Trump since he won the nomination. This is, of course, in collusion with both Democrats and RINOs in both houses of Congress.
This generation of school children should be forced to read Dianna West's American Betrayal, which exposes the truth about the infiltration of communists at every level of government and society since the 1930's. If they succeed at removing Trump, they will be able to finally bring their long-running plan to fruition.

Very, very false, very dangerous lies.
McCarthy was right, and he found LOTS of actual soviet communists. Read Horowitz's book, about how his Russian parents were sent to the US in the 20s to live here and to subvert the system as teachers.
I worked and traveled in Russian and several other former soviet states for a decade. Know that all you have heard about it is absolutely true, and that this book is all lies, all the time. I have been there.

On the contrary, the U.S. saved the U.S.S.R. FDR officially recognized the Soviet Union in 1933, and sent thousands of American planes and tanks to them during the war, along with lots of ammo, while ammunition to our troops was being rationed. We fought for no good reason in Italy, leaving us to cross the Alps, while Russia fought in the East and took all of Eastern Europe.
McCarthy was a politician who was punished and slandered for telling the truth. Even he did not know the massive extend of communist spying and infiltration. While we are subjected to non-stop propaganda and endless movies about the evil of the nazis, nothing is said about the evils of communism.

The Soviets saved democracy by taking over all of Eastern Europe against the will of those people? The only thing that saved any democracy in Europe were the American and British troops that fought France and the rest of Western Europe. The Red Army raped its way through Berlin and east Germany and then refused to give up the territory they had taken. That was the first shot in the cold war, not the bombing of Japan. True, Japan wanted to surrender to the US rather than be invaded by the monster Stalin. So did all of Europe. Unfortunately, many countries were abandoned to Soviet enslavement that lasted for over 40 years. Also, this author needs to read about the Soviet biological weapons program before deciding they were our friends.

No question that the Russians killed a hell of a lot of Nazis. If they hadn't done it with conventional weapons,
and if the Nazis were still fighting strong into August of 1945, we'd have nuked a few cities in Germany, and with or without the Russians, we'd have won anyway.
The history, on a grand scale, would be roughly the same. The Nazis were GOING to lose, either conventionally by the Allies on the east and the Russians on the west, or by the Allies on the east and one, two or maybe three cities vaporized with single bombs. Germans can be hard headed, it may have taken more demostrations of "You have LOST!" to them. But it was never going to be different.

The imaginative lefty political history revisionists have already done their dirty work on American history and its heroes so we shouldn't be too surprised they are now targeting WWII! ...Aren't they rushing it a bit this time though, since some of us are still here who remember and know the truth?!
socialist/dem pols have no credibility
