Scalfari: Pope Denied Jesus' Bodily

In his new book and in the periodical he founded, La Repubblica, Eugenio Scalfari, a long-time friend of Pope Francis and frequent papal interviewer, claims that the Pope told him that Jesus Christ did not rise bodily from the dead but "in the semblance of a spirit." This notion is a contradiction of Church teaching and the Gospels. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 645, it states, " By means of touch and the sharing of a meal, the risen Jesus establishes direct contact with his disciples. He invites them in this way to recognize that he is not a

Comments:

Is he nuts? No serious Christian would say that Jesus was not resurrected bodily.

Belief in the resurrection is essential for salvation! Even the ten disciples did not receive the Holy Ghost in John 20:22 until they first believed in the physical resurrection. "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

This so called "friend" of Pope Francis has miss quoted the Pope many many times before. I would not believe a word Scalifare writes. Why the Pope gives this guy the time of day is beyond me. The Pope does not need this guy to get his words written. Why would the Pope say this to Scalifare instead of having a qualified Vatican publication.

Hate to break this news to you, but the Pope is a guy in a pointy hat. Make no mistake, he is a pious and disciplined person. He is not your average guy, but I guarantee you he is no less human and no less fallible than you are I are and, in some regards, may be MORE fallible due to the amount of worship he receives from his flock who would do much better to turn their attention to Jesus and His teachings. Remember, it was a pope who agreed with the selling of licenses to sin for cash money. It was a pope who did not believe the Bible could be allowed into the hands of the common man. Nobody can call those two things the fruit of an infallible tree.

The pope is not a heretic. Belief in the Risen Lord is not a prerequisite for becoming a pope. It’s good if there comes a pope who’s a Bible-believing Christian, but the Vatican is the last place I’d look for one.

As an actual Catholic, I'm amused by the ongoing ignorance of those who think we worship popes. And baffled by the stupid idea that we think infallibility means sinless. It's not even worth reminding those with bigoted ears that do not hear and eyes that do not read what infallibility actually means because it's already been defined here in the salon a gazillion times over the years. Maybe remove the doctrinal log from thine own eye before maligning a religion you know nothing about. Unless, of course, your own infallibility insists only those who disagree with you have eye problems.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) defended remarks this week in which he called Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) “dumb," saying that his comments were “accurate.” “Well, I didn't mean disrespect,” he said Friday on Fox News, “but I do think what I said was accurate.” “Let me say it again: I think that what Speaker Pelosi is doing here is not only dumb, but it's dangerous," he said, referring to the House Democrats' impeachment inquiry led by Pelosi. "It's a partisan impeachment, clearly," he continued. "All impeachments, I guess, are political. But, this one's 100 percent political and it's going to establish a new norm for America that I think is bad for us.”

In a recent interview, newly ex-mega-church pastor Joshua Harris and author of the 1990s best-seller “I Kissed Dating Goodbye” remarked that the support President Trump has received from the evangelical community has been “incredibly damaging to the gospel and to the church.” I’d wager Harris is projecting something fierce. In August, Harris announced that he and his wife Shannon were divorcing, that he no longer considers himself a Christian, and that he regrets “standing against marriage equality.” Just in case the point was lost on any of us, he followed up his announcement by posting a picture of himself eating a rainbow donut at the Vancouver Pride parade.

The First Amendment protects “hate speech.” So why do so many powerful figures want to criminalize this protected speech? Because this supposed menace threatens their political agenda. Last week, the Washington Post published an op-ed by MSNBC analyst Richard Stengel arguing for a ban on hate speech. Stengel, a former Obama Administration staffer and Time magazine editor, said he began questioning the legality of hate speech when Arab diplomats expressed offense that Americans could burn Korans. To any normal American, the thought of an American diplomat taking ideas from Arab authoritarians sounds alarming, but Stengel lacks the self-awareness to realize that.

Elimination of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the ISIS terrorist organization, was a bright victory for Donald Trump's presidential administration. However, the implications extend far beyond eliminating the number one Middle East terrorist. It is extremely interesting that Trump openly expressed gratitude to the governments of Russia, Turkey, Syria, and Iraq for their support in achieving this important goal. The statement of American leader may seem like a formal courtesy, but it is truly crucial. During Obama's presidency, US foreign policy proceeded from the philosophy of the need to inflict maximum harm on Russia because of personal hostility to President Vladimir Putin and his conservative policies.

November 9 marks the 81st anniversary of the first day of Kristallnacht, also known as the "night of broken glass." There was another sinister motive equal to the anti-Semitism: gun control. What many don't know is, weeks before, the Nazis had disarmed the Jews whom they terrorized; they knew who had firearms because of a compulsory, pre-Nazi gun registry created a decade earlier.
