President Trump Loses Appeal
To Protect Tax Returns

Original Article

An appeals court in New York ruled against President Donald Trump Monday, rejecting the President’s bid to protect his tax returns from zealous New York City prosecutors. A three-judge appeals panel for the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit issued the unanimous decision, taking pains to refuse the President’s argument that his status provides him absolute immunity from grand jury investigations of criminal conduct that allegedly occurred before his election, according to USA Today. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. is seeking eight years of Trump’s financial records from third party banks

Comments:

New York City still wants its pound of flesh as President Trump leaves their bloated tax base.

FTA: “The President has not been charged with a crime. The grand jury investigation may not result in an indictment against any person, and even if it does, it is unclear whether the President will be indicted,” the Circuit’s chief judge, Robert Katzmann wrote in the unanimous opinion. So, they can simply demand (subpoena) 8 years of tax records for any fishing expedition they desire? Why wouldn't they narrow that to simply the year prior if they are looking into the payments during the 2016 campaign? Presume they are looking to see if payments were made in other matters, which is not likely any real issue when you have famous people who are targets of all sorts of lawsuits.

This is exactly the kind of prosecutorial abuse designed to undermine the effectiveness of a sitting President that the Founders warned us about in the Federalist papers. The President can only be removed from office for high crimes and misdemeanors. There is no probable cause to investigate him for activities that relate to his tax returns because this is a function of the IRS audit procedure that have access to the private information. They make criminal referrals only after reasonable discussions with the taxpayer or his attorneys to resolve any issues that appear improper. Vance is violating prosecutor ethics and norms and should be disbarred for this thuggish use of the courts.

Well, if politically motivated "persecutors," often abusing their powers, can demand President Trump, who has more lawyers than I have pairs of socks, turn over tax returns without a charge that a law was broken, civil or criminal, what hope does an everyday shlock like you and me have against some local tinhorn wanna-be dictator who wants to shut up his/her/other-non-binary-orientation-pronoun political opposition? We're toast. I hope every civil rights organization left (yeah sure) and right files a friend of the court brief supporting President Trump's right to keep his tax returns private. If Emperor Cuomo of New York and his flunky Cyrus Vance Jr. want his tax returns, charge him with a violation of a law and they subpoena them. Otherwise, it's a fishing expedition and an interference with his (and our) rights to privacy. You know, like how they decided Roe vs Wade.

One of the worst legal reasoning displayed by the U.S. Supreme Court was when they ruled, (8-0 if memory serves me) that a civil suit could proceed against Dollar Bill Clinton while he was president - that it would not affect/interfere with his duties. Precedents are being set here, where the president, not just DJT, will be wrapped up in legal requirements throughout their terms in office. The U.S. Supreme Court could reverse that terrible, bad decision on presidents.

All of these lawsuits that are going against Pres. Trump WILL someday be used against the Democrats to get information that had previously been unobtainable. They are setting precedents for this.

The Democrats want those very complicated Trump Tax Returns that very few ordinary people will understand, that have already been accepted by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over the years. Just as night follows day once in possession of Trump’s Tax Returns the Democrats will selectively leak them to the liberal media insinuating that there is all sorts of criminal wrongdoing hidden within those returns.
