House Majority Whip James Clyburn said there is “no question” that South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s sexual orientation is “an issue” for older black voters in South Carolina.During a Sunday morning appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” the South Carolina Democratic congressman was asked by guest host Dana Bash about whether Buttigieg’s failure to gain traction in the state, despite polling well in other places, has anything to do with the fact that he is gay.“Well, that’s a generational issue,” Clyburn responded. “I know of a lot of people my age who feel that way.”

There must be some reason that people don't like Buttigieg.

It could be that his policies are ridiculous...

His self-righteousness is an issue for this older white voter. Also his policies, of course.

It could be true also that his gayness is a problem for Christians, right or left, and those saddled with gayness who choose NOT to be practicing gays. For myself, I am reminded of that wonderful Lee Ann Womack song, ''"I'll Think Of A Reason Later".

Minor player supported by the media because of his gayness. It would be just like having Obama. Any criticism of him and his ridiculous policies would automatically be labeled ‘homophobic’.

I think it's fair to say his being gay has less influence on the bulk of voters than his absurd posturing and positions on the issues. It has always been common wisdom that blacks in general hate gays. Why? Because they're a 'minority' that 'gets away' with being 'not a minority' or successfully works their status? I don't know. I'm conjecturing.

If the only two choices I had were Sodom and Gomorrah I'll take Gomorrah. Enough of the Pervert Parade. Go back into the closet and stay there.

James did not reply he was for Gays. If you watch NY News it is the blacks beaten up the Gays on the streets of NYC.

I don't believe it is completely that at all. More likely causes are his not so hidden attacks on Christians, decency in society, SSM, and his obsessive stalking of Mike Pence. Now that is pure creepy. Mayor Pete needs to improve his record as mayor by fixing his own nest before thinking he can fix the national one.

There are a whole lot of people having problems with Pete Butt's gayness. It spans age, gender, wealth, nationality, religion, and political persuasion. This nation is not ready for a candidate that it openly gay. Very likely never ready. Pete thinks differently than most people. What are his biases and prejudices? He definitely has them.

It should be the fact the dweeb has never done anything important in life. Being the mayor of a failed city in Indiana should be more cause for concern than celebration.

I'm a Christian, so I'm not a fan of gay people. But I'm okay with them when they don't force their agenda. Live and let live. My granddaughter is gay. Don't promote your sexuality and force it into your politics. It's a fact that even if you were not gay, you are a failure. Done. Dust.

His gayness is an issue with lots of voters. Machts Nichts, though, since I would oppose his political positions, whether he liked screwing people or ponies.
