"Do you view the House impeachment inquiry as illegitimate?" a reporters asked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell at his news conference on Tuesday.
McConnell did not directly answer the legitimacy question, except to say that an impeachable offense is whatever the House wants it to be:
Well, look, impeachment, as a practical matter, is whatever a majority of the House decides it is at any given moment.
And it appears that the Democrats, emboldened by the new majority they've had this year, have been on this path for three years. The first headline I saw--I think it was in the Washington Post before the president was sworn in was

Checks and balances at work. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Presides over any trail in the Senate. That's how the Judicial Branch gets in. Any judge will though out a case where the inditement blatantly fails to meet the legal definition of a crime. In this case: "high crimes and misdemeanors".

The Chief Justice oversees the trial. He doesnt get to rule on whether the case has merit or not. Impeachment is not a criminal trial with codified rules of evidence and procedures. Impeachment is a political act. The House and Senate make their own rules, and those rules can be whatever the majority wants them to be.
The democrats decided within hours of Trump winning the election that he had committed impeachable offenses, and have been working overtime for three years to find offenses. The only reason they are going through the process at all is to gin up public support.
The most laughable statements from the dems is that they are defending to constitution, take it seriously and are seeking the truth. Meanwhile, most made up their minds absent any evidence, collude with witnesses, wont allow republicans to ask questions and conduct hearings in secret.

The Democrats could take a vote to impeach and get it over with in a day; however, they want to create the false impression that Trump is a criminal who deserves to be ousted, right up until the 2020 election. Only hate and insanity can explain why they think this is a good path to take, because they are turning the Nation against them and it will cost them many votes. So, keep right on impeaching, fools.

That is the thing.. they know they can't get the Senate to cooperate. This dog and pony show is just to hurt President Trump's re-election.
I rejoice in informing them their persecution of the President has only strengthened his base. We see his struggle as ours. And they are leftist, progressive, swamp rino, and never Trumper alike. I make no more distinctions.
Obviously there is no there there otherwise there would be no need for secret meetings, no cloak and dagger, no anonymous whistle blowers. The "crime" would have been plastered everywhere. Losing the 2016 election, hating President Trump, loathing conservatives, and wishing for our nasty deaths is not a reason for impeachment but that is their motive.
Plus no actual impeachment vote has ever ended in removing a sitting US president.

The fact of the matter is that by voting to remove President Trump from office based upon such bogus and partisan leftist and liberal Democrat contrived evidence, the wimpy Republican Senators will be ensuring that a Democrat socialist will most certainly will win the 2020 Presidential election, a cowardly action that is sure to result in those Republican Senators committing individual political suicide for themselves, along with political suicide for the currently constituted Republican Party, that will never again be able to win a Presidential election in our lifetimes, as they will be torn asunder by the formation of a new Conservative Party consisting of the “Deplorables” who voted for Trump, along with a lot of others who are bound to see the light as soon as the new Democrat socialist President starts implementing his or her radical socialist political agenda.

Impeachment without removal from office is nothing more than partisan grandstanding and a demonstration of unfitness for office. The Senate will not vote to remove President Trump. The democrats and butt-wipe media will cry and stomp their feet, in further demonstrations, while President Trump continues making America Great Again! I'm sure he will smile and have something entertaining to say!

Turtle needs a Damascus road moment. He really does. If he thinks that it is whatever the House wants it to be, he is so full of it, his eyes are brown. I hope Rand Paul doesn't endorse him for reelection again. Paul might find himself in trouble in his own district.

I'd like to think that Sen. Mitch is just playing cool knowing that he's got a few potential defectors on his side, but more importantly, the more the Dems talk about this the stupider they sound. There's only so much spin the media can put on this that anyone except hard core Leftists and those with a financial benefit can see through. As one of the commenters on the original article said, Trump could be impeached for getting two scoops of ice cream when everyone else only gets one. Doesn't make it a high crime by any sane person's definition.

The dems are attempting to try PDT in the press, and they are trying to make US believe they are having success because they keep at it no matter how fooooolish they look from day to day.

No, Senate McConnell, impeachment is NOT what the House and Nancy says it is.
It's what the U.S. Constitution says it is. Article l, Section 2, clause 5. Article 1, Section 2, clauses 6 and 7.
Article II, Section 4. Look it up.
We would not expect Democrat Speaker Nancy to know that, but we hold the Leader of the
U.S. Senate to a higher standard.

What if the House impeached Trump for having orange hair? Would that be ok? What would the Senate do? He does have orange hair!
