The decision to move the Bureau of Land Management headquarters to Colorado’s Western Slope should be viewed not as a one-off, but a good start, as far as some Senate Republicans are concerned.
GOP Sens. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee introduced Wednesday legislation to move 90% of positions in 10 executive departments — including Agriculture, Education and Energy — to 10 states outside Washington, D.C., and “into the heart of economically distressed regions across the country.”
Mr. Hawley pointed to the Agriculture Department’s decision in June to move two of its agencies to the Kansas City area

I believe some of the offices from the Department of Agriculture were moved to Kansas City and some of the employees threw a fit. How dare they have to move to flyover country!

The headline alone makes me laugh. I can just picture a bunch of career bureaucrats popping Xanax by the handful.

This is something I have often contemplated - the moving of federal offices to outside the DC area. Diversifying the bureaucracies by moving them into the interior states. It makes so much sense - but common sense is something Democrats despise.

#1, a large portion of Dept of Ag is moving to KC. Reports are that NONE of the existing employees will be moving.
This is good news for KC area, no new infection moving from DC area.
My expectation is that 10% would be the upper percentage who would move, and that is good news for the states receiving these agencies, it will not spread the infection of leftist government loons to other states.

I'd be much more satisfied if the headline read - -
"Senate GOP bill seeks to ELIMINATE 90% of jobs in 10 federal departments"
Yes - - that I'd like.

Before Trump this is the kind of thing that marked LtGen Flynn for destruction. He wanted to move selected components of DIA out of DC to the combatant commands. Talk about screaming bloody murder.

The cost savings would be dramatic and getting the employees out of the DC swamp would be beneficial to the Nation. ( Note DC employees get extra wages just for working there ) . Rent, utiltities, and other expenses would go down, and eventually the employees would learn to love the Nation.

I think this would be a good idea for ANY country or state. Use it to help spread out the government to keep power from being concentrated in one area that governs the rest of the people like they are simply colonies. Keeping power closer to the people should also allow people to better keep their thumb on the government.

I think the trick would be to move the agency, and then when say 4,000 employees balk and only 100 will move, you eliminate 2,000 of the jobs when you get to the new location, and the "layoffs" were voluntary, yet you can wipe out 50% of an agency at one strike.
This could be a wonderful strategy to strike at the Deep State.

The DC area is probably the richest enclave in the world. Yet with modern communications and information practices there is little need for that concentration.
The concentration virtually ensures the Democrats own the Electoral votes of two states. And those Senate Seats. And DC will become a State if the Democrats can ever manage it.
GRADUALLY distribute each agency across the country. That obviously is more practical for some functions than others yet nearly every agency could make significant changes within a decade.
But don't ever ask any agency employees; they like things just as they are.

#19 - Exactly what happened when then-Naval Space and Warfare Systems Command relocated from Arlington VA to San Diego. About 1,000 billets eliminated. Let's take it even further and spread the bureacracy among all 50 states. Any Congressman not in favor of it (jobs for their district) would de shown to have more allegiance to the deep state.

In today's internet-connected world, there is no reason to jam people into a common space to do work anymore. One can easily work from home, with production monitored electronically. however, most cannot think of "work" without the coercion of constant oversight and "supervision." think of the savings if the government could sell off office real estate as unneeded...no utility bills or maintenane, with property returned to local tax rolls.

They should break up many departments and move them to many different parts of the country and our dear leaders should have to take a train or a bus in "economy class" to get there so that they know what the rest of the country looks like and what all our different citizens think on every subject.
What percentage of the people who work for the federal government are rabid Democrats who hate their own country and despise Trump and Republicans. As far as I'm concerned most of them are near treasonous.

Trump need to move the FBI, CIA and all other law enforcement agencies out of Washington DC and into the mid west where things are more politically balanced. All of those agencies fall under the executive branch.
He also needs to remove the top 10 people in those agencies and replace with people from at least 500 miles from the Beltway.

Only 2 things will clean up this corrupt government...term limits & move DC to ???Wray & Barr have done zero. They are still covering for Obama, Hillary & the JD. Nothing will ever change, The corruption at the JD , Schiff’s so called fake impeachment investigation , Kavanaugh hearings, Mueller fake dossier investigation, 374 nameless people in congress accused of sexual harassment with 17 million taxpayers $$ paid to the accuses & the Benghazi cover up, proves it’s beyond repair. Not one Democrat has been charged with anything. It’s a black eye on the government who is going after Trump who is probably the most honest one in DC & he receives Zero salary! Do you think any of these accusers would work for free? Uncover one eye on Miss Liberty because its a one sided system.
