President Trump has played this out perfectly. By isolating Turkish President Recep Erdogan, and effectively leaving him naked to an alliance of his enemies, Erdogan is now urgently asking for the U.S. to mediate peace negotiations with Kurdish forces.
This request happens immediately after President Trump signed an executive order [See Here] triggering the sanction authority of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. Erdogan called the White House requesting an urgent phone call with President Trump.

Erdogan is walking into a Trump trap. Erdogan will hang himself, as the Turkish people would also like to be rid of him.

Just how many times do the elites and neocons have to have their lunch handed to them (as in eat crow) before they begin to give President Trump the credit he has due?
It just once more verifies that our elected Reps and Senators aren't nearly as intelligent as they would let us believe.

The New York Times is saying that President Trump is essentially incompetent, had no plan to deal with the Turkish invasion, and essentially ran away by surrendering to a Turkish demand that US troops get out of the path of the Turkish invasion.
After reading this article and Trump’s emergency order it looks like Trump had a plan and actually knows what he is doing. For once there are no US casualties so far. Those US units that were withdrawn were very small and were along that Turkish Border without adequate force protection. Any thought that those US units could stop an invasion by tens of thousands of Turks coming across the border towards their positions is pure fool’s gold.
The Kurds should have been negotiating with the Turks long ago and refused to take past US advise on that score. Now for the first time in many years, instead of commencing another endless Middle East War we have a President who is getting the USA unentangled from such quagmires. Who was it that got the USA entangled in Syria anyway, you guested it, Barack Hussein Obama.

Years ago I was out in the field along the West German/East German/Czech border sleeping next to an enormous minefield that kept people from crossing the border ~ it really was an Iron Curtain ~ and not just a figure of speech.
We were suddenly awakened by the blast of two jet engines above us going straight up astradle that border.... a MIG and a Starfire (I believe they called them)
STRAIGHT UP OVERHEAD ~ you could feel the exhaust.
So, we all got up and looked around to see what else, and there they were, a bunch of Russian/EastGerman military vehicles, tracked vehicles, tanks, gas trucks, small vehicles, marching men, mobile artillery and everything else you can imagine OVER on the otherside of the death strip (the mine field). GOING SOUTH ~ which meant they were invading their Socialist Brethren in Czechoslovakia.
We called that event in to the appropriate military command.... and 6 days later they called us up and suggested we withdraw!
Everybody knows what TRIPWIRE is all about. They put you there; something happens; you squeal; they know something happened.
So, we were part of a tripwire, and unlike the idiots who'd come up with the idea, we knew that when the Red Army is rolling down the road 100 feet away, armed to the teeth, and all you have is a broken machinegun and a ground surveillance radar device, then you should get out of there...... which we did.....while those jets were still climbing overhead. Duking it out metaphorically speaking.
Here's the difference between having LBJ as "yor President" and having Donald Trump as THE PRESIDENT...... LBJ dwadled and left us hanging out to dry in front of the Red Army and tens of thousands of troops.... for a week ~ and did nothing at all.
The Donald pulled our units out of the way of Erdogin, and there they are ~ out of the way.
Somebody wanted to leave those guys out in the field for another week or so where they could very well get killed or hurt.
No, no, no, no! A few armed men, who pose no more than a moral presence in a given situation, are just TARGET PEOPLE.
When the potential enemy starts coming through your territory and you are all alone, there's no more tripwire action, no more moral presence, just time to haul ashes!

Sometimes you have to let the idiot (in this case Erdogan) burn his fingers on the stove to learn that the stove is hot.

Did I miss something? I've been watching Fox News most of the night and all I hear is that pulling the troops was a mistake and that things are getting worse. Nothing about Erdogan wanting to negotiate.
I trust Trump with is decisions. That don't always make sense because we don't have all the facts and don't have the tactical skills of Trump. Trump is brilliant and the Chinese have so much as said so. Maybe the rest of the world will wake up and see the obvious.

What? You mean some dirty demonrat didn't have sufficient time to screw up the negotiations to benefit them?

Retired military officers, some of them General Officers who still maintain their military commissions, appearing on the 24/7 media making adverse comments and giving their differing opinions of strategic decisions made by the President, who is the Commander in Chief, is not in keeping with the traditions of the US military. Especially when the President, who is the top Constitutional Officer of the US Government charged with conducting foreign affairs makes a decision that puts American interests over those of foreign interests involving endless Middle East Wars.
Since putting America’s interests first in foreign affairs and withdrawing from endless Middle East Wars were some of the primary reasons that the American people elected the President, with the President now carrying out his campaign promises, those military officers who are now opposing the President’s foreign policy decisions in that respect are dipping their toes into politics.

No American lives at risk, no bombing needed. And the neocons will be sputtering and spitting and mad that they have gotten it entirely wrong AGAIN. Since Trump via Mnuchin can effectively shut down the Turkish economy, suddenly Erdogan is seeing the advantages of a negotiated settlement with the Kurds along the Syrian border. Winning, AGAIN.
