FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP)--A central Iowa pastor who also served as a chaplain to area first responders was robbed and beaten to death outside of his church, authorities said. Officers sent to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge on Wednesday evening found the Rev. Allen Henderson lying unresponsive outside of the building, police said in a news release. Henderson was pronounced dead at a local hospital of injuries consistent with an assault.(Snip)“Pastor Al was a brother to all of us,” Porter told The Messenger newspaper. “He was a pastor to every law enforcement and fire agency in this area. This is very tough for all of us.”

".. he was previously convicted of disorderly conduct, assaulting a jailer and other crimes."
is there a "judge" or "attorney" that let him out of prison?
then, THEY are guilty of MURDER..

Unbelievably sad story. Prayers for the Pastor’s family and community. I watched the brother of a man killed by a Dallas police officer hug the officer after her sentencing today. It brought me to tears, after all he and his family had been through he forgave her and said he loved her. Man’s compassion for his fellow man can be incredible at times, even for those who least deserve it. Not sure I am a good enough person that I could ever forgive an animal like this killer.

Really sad story. This criminal should get the death penalty.

It's all about boundaries. We don't seem to have any today. What gives anyone the right to enter somone's three feet of personal space or even touch them?
Everyone needs to have instant gratification, no matter who is in their way.
Condolences to the pastor's friends and family.

Just the beginning of the persecution of Christians in America. I'm 65 and probably won't see it all play out but I am convinced that Christianity will be outlawed and Christians will be jailed, kids removed from their homes etc. All because we aren't about Diversity! What a wicked word and concept! Eventually someone REALLY BAD (The AntiChrist) will arise from the Politically Correct ranks and take over the world. Then things get real nasty. We have the book, however and know the end. Jesus Christ returns with His people and defeats the armies of evil and sets up a 1,000 year reign on earth. NOTHING else matters if your eternal soul is headed for an eternity separated from GOD in Hell. Jesus is the only way to have your sins forgiven through his shedding of blood on the cross to cover my sins. Turn to him now. Read your bible or attend a strong bible teaching church. Time is short. I never saw it coming this fast when I was younger but the perversions of this world are increasing at a rate that is simply breath taking! God Bless each of you!

Not that it adds anything to the discussion, but my husband and I were married in that church 27 years ago, we used to live a couple of blocks from there. Rev. Henderson was not at the church at the time, so I didn't know him, but this is still shocking. We moved after I graduated with my engineering degree, but I have heard that there is a LOT more crime there than there was back then.

The 1,000 year reign on earth is popular opinion, not true teaching. “The 1,000 years mentioned in Revelation 20:2 are not literal, but are a symbol which illustrates the New Testament era from the time of Christ up to Armageddon, just before the End.” This is seen in poetry and prophecies of the Old Testament where 1,000 symbolizes any great amount or long period of time (Psalms 50:10, 84:10, 90:4). Jesus already established His kingdom among all believers (Matthew 12:28, John 18:36, Romans 14:17, Revelation 1:5-6). To believe that Jesus has yet to establish His kingdom is to deny the preaching that “the time is fulfilled and the kingdom of God is at hand” (Mark 1:16).
Another popular opinion is “The Rapture.” Revelation does not teach a Rapture of Christians; Revelation teaches that God will preserve His people in the face of persecution and suffering (Revelation 3:10, 14:12). All believers and unbelievers will be resurrected on Judgment Day—there is no second chance for repentance (Revelation 11:18, 20:11-15).
The book of Revelation’s great tribulation refers to the persecution and suffering God’s people have and always will in this corrupt world (Acts 14:22, Revelation 1:9).

Painful and tragic beyond words that even men of the cloth are assaulted and die at the hands of deranged assailants. Be at peace in heaven’s home with our Lord, dear LCMS Pastor. In John 10:11 Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” For his faith and service, may he hear our Lord say to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)
