Methinks Mr. Atkinson doth protest too much. Prior to the current “whistle-blower complaint” the Intelligence Community Inspector General did not accept Urgent Concern whistle-blower claims without first hand knowledge. However, the ICIG revised the protocol in August 2019 to accept a CIA complaint against President Donald Trump.
Today the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, Michael Atkinson, presented a four-page justification explaining why the IC changed the Urgent Concern rules to allow the CIA to target President Trump with anonymous complaints based on hearsay:

All this plus the last three years. And not a single indictment.
Tell me how the government is not corrupt beyond redemption.

Dims, make it easier on yourselves and just accept the probability of a Trump/Pence landslide next year. This will help Billary and you to come fo terms, once and for all, with the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election.

This is an extremely unwise change in the whistleblower policy. A person who doesn't have first hand knowledge of the asserted wrongdoing isn't a whistleblower but a rumour repeater. This will result in an endless series of false and politically motivated claims.

It seems like the third paragraph of the attempted justification statement indicates that the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community would not have jurisdiction to accept complaints regarding the President’s telephone conversations with foreign leaders based upon supposed information leaked out of the White House. The whistleblower laws were passed by Congress to facilitate whistleblowers to filing complaints with specific administrative Inspector Generals appointed in each federal agency in which alleged wrongdoing was perpetrated. The President is not a federal employee assigned to any federal agency, so the President whose office is in the White House was never contemplated to be subject to federal agency whistleblower complaints. Obviously this particular Inspector General who previously was employed at FBI HQ under James Comey and crew did everything he could to get this compliant to the attention of Adam Schiff. Looks like a sequel to the failed Russia “collusion” investigation which would mean another element of a big ongoing “Deep State” and Democrat conspiracy has been deployed to undermine President Trump.
Also looks like Trump undermined the conspiracy when he quickly declassified his telephone transcript and the whistleblower complaint that do not show that Trump broke any laws, and was simply asking a foreign leader to cooperate with the US Attorney General and ongoing US criminal investigations into clear evidence that certain persons attempted to falsely “frame” him as “colluding” with Russia to steal the 2016 election from Hillary Clinton.

I've heard many times an IG can't be fired for anything they do. Isn't that convenient. Is there any federal department, bureau, etc. exempt from corruption? I think not.

Changing the rules in the middle of a game is something that children do. Atkinson is an Obama Swamp Creature just like the rest of them. Trump in a landslide can not be prevented so keep those pitchforks sharpened.

I am curious to see if he gave $$$$ to the Hillary campaign...you know like 100% of the Mueller team did. This all sounds slimy. Trump was pressured to release the transcript then they say by the release he lost his rights??? It was all Planned & a set up. I’d love to see all the emails from the ICIG, Schiff & Nadler during this period. It should be settled in federal court not Pelosi’s court. Barr should resolve this immediately.

Why has this man not been replaced ??? The Trump administration is in need of total cleanup of all this Obama people. By allowing them to continue in these important posts his administration is under constant danger. All communication with Schiff and this man need to be examined under oath. Hello Lindsey?????

I smell more Lawfare-Comey pals in this. Atkinson was counsel to John Carlin, who was Comey’s chief of staff at the FBI. See how that trail shapes up? Ben Wittes, Comey BFF and leak-carrier, started Lawfare. All of the refugees from the FBI fled to Lawfare and are working their mischief there.

Re #7, whoever told you that was incorrect.
Presidentially appointed IGs can only be removed, or terminated, from their positions by the President of the United States, whereas designated inspectors general can be terminated by the agency head. However, in both cases Congress must be notified of the termination, removal, or reassignment.

The ICIG would not have been appointed by the President, but by the head of the agency that is over the 17 intelligence agencies that make up the “intelligence community”...

This proves the agencies are still corrupt to the core. Nothing has changed.

As I understand the IC whistleblower legalities, it is exclusively for the intelligence community - to ferret out bad guys within the ranks. President Trump - nor any other president - is not a member of the intelligence community.
