First lady Melania Trump greeted Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his wife, Jennifer Morrison, at the White House on Friday for a state dinner in shades of cool blues — a nod to the island nation’s aquatic lifestyle. For the daytime, Mrs. Trump welcomed the Morrisons in an icy blue crepe knit dress by Scanlan Theodore, the Aussie brand founded in Melbourne in 1987. The dress features billowing cocoon-like sleeves, a cinched belt and v-neck cutout, retailing for about $800. I'm a big fan of Melania Trump and I don't think we have ever had a lovelier or classier First Lady. But that pale blue dress with the balloon sleeves is a mistake. Please, no more outlines of Melania's navel.

Melania Trump was the perfect hostess. She could have pulled out all the stops and gone full Melania glamour, but having spent time with Jenny Morrison in Biarritz and undoubtedly knowing that the former school teacher was new to the first lady game, Melania opted to dress conservatively and modestly and let Jenny have a chance at the spotlight. The seafoam dress was a garden party dress. Not the most flattering gown she has ever worn, but I believe it was worn for a purpose. The pale blue knit that she wore in the arrival ceremony was by an Australian designer. It was not custom made, but off the rack at around $600-700. It did not fit well. But again, it was worn for a purpose. Melania knew this occasion had to properly be about the Morrisons, the honored guests. Not the Trumps. She is as masterful at her job as the President is at his.

I didn't care for the form fitting dress either. Too much form and not enough fit. It was just a tad too snug. It looked to me as though she might have a little "something" going on in her womb. I sorta' liked the evening dress, except for the sleeves. They looked like an after thought. Actually, I thought the garden dinner gown was too much dress. She looks better in more tailored clothes. I guess because of her height. I don't always like what Melania wears. Most times she gets it right. She is still an improvement over Big Mike.....make that a BIG IMPROVEMENT!

I once waded through an article on the coming new world order that read like a final exam essay written against the clock for a Hail Mary passing grade[i]. I mention this because of its continuing relevance to shallow thinking regarding matters of great importance – in this case, world order no less! The gist of the article was that with the “old order” collapsed and in disarray, the “new order” faces the danger of fundamentalism – whether Islamic, Christian, or yours, wasn’t clear and didn’t seem to matter. The call, in so many words, was to root out “bad guys” who interfere with “good guys” trying to spread “democracy”

Cory Booker has become the latest Democratic presidential candidate to back unionizing entire industries by supporting a concept called "sectoral bargaining." The idea dates back to the 1930s and involves the federal government creating union-management committees that would set wages and other work standards. The change, if adopted, would radically shift the business landscape across the U.S. Under sectoral bargaining, unions would be granted enormous power over industries, while businesses would be strictly limited in the workplace policies they could adopt. All workers in an industry would be represented by the union officials on the committees. The New Jersey senator
