Asked why he is the most qualified candidate to address the nation's racial "divide," Beto O'Rourke slammed President Trump as a white supremacist and said the United States should mark its founding, not on July 4, 1776, but on August 20, 1619, "When the first kidnapped African was brought to this country against his will."
Here is the question posed by ABC's Linsey David and O'Rourke's response at Thursday's ABC/Univision debate in Houston:
Davis:
Since we're here at an HBCU, I'd like to start with young black voters. Several recent polls indicate their number-one concern is racism. This campus, this state, and this nation are

The first sentence says it all: "Asked why he is the most qualified candidate to address the nation's racial "divide," Beto O'Rourke slammed President Trump..." Robert Francis has nothing to recommend him for any adult job. Zero. Not even his made up, Mexican-sounding name can cover that up.

For those students who say their number one concern is racism- there are planes flying to Africa every single day of the year.

Who came up with this nonsense?
In 1619 every country on the planet was practicing slavery. It had been a part of every civilization on earth. Colonial Americans did not invent slavery. In fact, the slaves (1619) that he was referring to had been taken from a Portuguese slave ship. Over 95% of the transatlantic slave trade was destined for Spanish and Portuguese colonies in South America, Central America, and the West Indies. Does he claim that Brazil or Columbia's founding dates are tied to slavery? Plus, the Jamestown colony he is referring to (1619) was not the founding of a country it was a for-profit business venture by the Virginia Company of London, a company established by the British Crown and financed by private stock holders.
The founding of the US is dated to 1776, because that is when the founding fathers declared our country's independence from England and rejected the doctrine of "divine right of Kings" and rule by hereditary monarchy, which was the standard practice of all other countries.

I would suggest that O'Rourke lead a class-action lawsuit against Africa. That is the country that ''kidnapped'' and sold black people to the slave industry. Oh, the kidnappers happened to be black too.

I've never seen such a hypocrite as O'Rourke. He's wealthy, but he loathes it(?) and blames his own white skin on his "priviledge"? He is in the business of selling White Guilt. Sorry but I'm not buying it, so Beat It, Beto.

A simple honest historical perspective will tell you that NO country in human history has made as much progress in as short a time rooting out systemic racism as the United States. Compare 1965 and 2019. As far as history of civilizations go it is a blink of an eye. What remains today is social racism. The social attitude that makes a white woman clutch her purse tightly when a black man gets on the elevator. Or an Indian cab driver to pass a black man flagging him in the Bronx. This will go away as more and more blacks start living mainstream lives. This is very people like this Beto character are doing the devil's work. Everything you do, say, advocate that slows down the march of the black community to mainstream culture IS the new racism. And ALL of the panderers on the stage in Houston are guilty.

Well heck, Robert, let’s just date it back to the Sumerians, circa 4,000 BC. They had slaves and, by some accounts, did exploratory reconnaissance work in North America.

#4, notice how your explanation took much longer to say than their simple date, and accusation? With attention spans about 13 seconds......
#13, you are very correct, and tremendous strides have been made, except in the minds of Democrat politicians who MUST keep their narrative alive to ensure they excite some of their base, all so they can win elections.
And, O'Rourke's constant comment about a racist living in the WH? Why would a racist go to the Historical Black College function the other day? Would seem he'd want to shun them, according to O'Rourke.
Why didn't many hear about Trump's speech to this group of young African-Americans? Because the media is editing what you see and hear.

Leftists and race baiters are continually talking about healing the "racial divide" in this country, yet they are the ones that constantly pick at the scab on the wound, guaranteeing that it will never heal.
Actions speak louder than words. These race hustlers want to keep the issue alive. There is too much power and money coming their way because of it.

Beto is a butt-head.
There was no independent nation recognized as the United States of America in 1619. Maybe he should sue the schools that passed him for his moronic level of education.

Hey Beto, from 1619-the end of the war for independence, the country was British. That's right, the British allowed slavery in the colonies.

The British transported 3.4 million African slaves to the Americas. The African first slave was transported to the British colony of Virginia. I haven't tried to research it but I would guess most of the original slaves brought here were brought by the British while the colonies were still under British rule. And who profited from all of this? Not just the plantation owners here. England was basically being subsidized to a very large extent by taxes brought in from the colonies. This included taxes on goods and commodities produced through slave labor and the slave trade. This doesn't make the USA innocent in the immoral practice of slavery, at least for a time. But the US also fought a war that ended slavery and passed laws and constitutional amendments that gave former slaves citizenship and rights that their descendants can rely upon today.

BETO is remarkably stupid.
No, in 1619, Portugal was closely tied to the UK through a quite ancient treaty ~ even though at the time it shared a king with Spain!
So, whoever brought those slaves to Virginia (which at that time extended from roughly the NY/PA state line south to the VA/NC state line ~ and from the Ocean to the East to the mountains to the West (although those lines were drawn as late as 1612/14 ~ and extended all the way to roughly the 100 degree line in the West) ~ whether on a Portuguese Flagged ship, or an English Flagged ship, or a French or Dutch ship, or even a Spanish ship ~ was doing so with the assistance of the English and the approval of the Spanish government (which held title to the Protestant Reservation which would, over time, grow to be the United States of America).
At the same time the Swedish government was running ships in and out of the Eastern Seaboard attempting to develop its own tobacco trade.... and was preparing to begin capturing wild Sa'ami (some of my own ancestors) from the back woods of the Swedish Empire and ship them as slave labor to what is now Pennsylvania/New Jersey/Delaware.
It wasn't the United States yet in 1619. That was in the far distant future, a different century in fact.... and the Revolution would see the rise of a colonial militia General to the heights of political history ~ where he would preside over the Constitutional Convention and go on to be the First President and a FOUNDING PERSON in the ABOLITIONIST MOVEMENT which ultimately resulted in the liberation of the slaves and the creation of the Republican party.
BETO and his leftwing lunatic brethren have lately been parroting the story that George Washington was some sort of blood thirsty slave owner rather than the highest ranked person in the US government to have gone over to the Abolitionists and actually forced the Virginia legislature to allow masters to free slaves in their wills.
Can someone take BETO out behind the woodshed and give him what-for! I am tired of his dreck!

Lets see. A skateboarding dirt eating punk who married into wealth, pretends to be Spanish, is now a maven on slavery? Before 2018 had he even been to the east coast? As I remember, he almost died from the heat in Miami, so I would say "no". He and Edith Ann have a lot in common and it's not brains. Just pick up your skateboard and go away. Wash your mouth when you get home.
