A former top official in the Federal Emergency Management Agency was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly taking bribes from the head of a company who received $1.8 billion in federal contracts to repair Puerto Rico’s power grid after Hurricane Maria devastated the island in 2017. Ahsha Tribble, a deputy regional administrator, another former FEMA official, Jovanda Patterson, and Donald Keith Ellison, the former president of COBRA Acquisitions, were charged in a 15-count indictment. Patterson, Tribble’s deputy chief of staff, steered contracts to COBRA and left FEMA in July 2018 for a job at the energy company, the court documents say.

Crises seem to be the best times to skim some cream off the top when you're overworked and underpaid. Will there be any punishment beyond the traditional financial restitution and fake apology?

When you hire and/or promote people based on the color of their skin, their gender, their sexual preferences, and so forth, instead of based upon their ability, their experience and the content of their character, I believe that the probability of fraud and corruption increases.Putting basically unqualified people into positions of power is asking for trouble.

Puerto Rico is very corrupt, and it seems this person decided she would get her piece of the action by using her position. Wonder who else was skimming from the people of Puerto Rico, and what party they vote for.

I have nothing good to say about FEMA. Not only did they not find a serious problem with my house after a hurricane, but the last big one to hit FL, it seems they only helped blacks. White people were told to contact their insurance company. One friend went without power for about ten days, yet people living in apartments, who lost electric for a few hours, filed online and got $500 deposited in their accounts. Waiting to see what happens in the Bahamas. See the lack of news for the Outter Banks of NC and their damage ?

City contractors would have to reveal past ties to slavery under a Council bill that will be introduced on Thursday. The legislation would require companies to search their history and records to determine if they or any affiliated entities engaged in or profited from the slave trade when they enter in or renew city contracts of $100,000 or more. “New York City is the financial capital of the world, and the ugly truth is that its stature as such has roots in the slave trade,” Councilman I. Both Republicans who Donald Trump endorsed won their special congressional elections Tuesday night in North Carolina, delivering the president a symbolic victory as his re-election season gets underway. The two contests, months in the making, were seen as referenda on whether the president could hold on to majorities in red states that propelled him to the Oval Office. Republican Greg Murphy won his Third Congressional District handily, holding on to a seat left vacant when Rep. Walter Jones died in February. The other race, a more hotly contested Ninth Congressional District battle, was a dead heat in the final pre-election polls.

Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda network were responsible. But, the 9/11 plot did not happen in a vacuum. In reality, America’s elephantine national security state had known of bin Laden and his network years before the horrific events of 9/11.
