The Coast Guard Investigative Service served search warrants on Truth Aquatics, the owner of the diving boat that was swallowed up by flames off the California coast on Labor Day, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Eric Raney told CNN. "This is all just part of the ongoing investigation," Raney said. "The Coast Guard was assisted by ATF which is investigating the fire and the FBI which has expertise in criminal investigations." Of the 39 people who were aboard the 75-foot dive boat Conception that weekend, only five crew members were found alive. The others, who were in the lower sleeping deck, likely got trapped when the fire

However much of a tragedy this is, it is the last thing on my list of things that are bothering me in America.

Overall, live-aboard dive boats operate very safely all over the world. Have you ever heard about a dive boat fire / accident before this? This was a terrible tragedy. However, the boat designs are used on a lot of boats. Almost all boats with cabins have similar situations. There is only one main way in/out and the secondary exit is a small hatch. Everyone with a boat, from big live aboards to smaller personal cruisers have the same situation.

The boat had passed all state inspections so what more is the owner to do? Is this a feel good interrogative unnecessary harassment exercise? Why is a Federal agency especially the ATF involved in this at all? Sort of like when a mass shooter is killed on the scene and 500 investigators and 100 FBI agents show up and spend months and millions of dollars to find out how the people got shot. The boat passed all State inspections and is on the bottom in 60 feet of water so what are they going to find, a burned up 70 foot ship's hull, on the bottom. A huge waste of resources. Life is risky and having real fun is even more risky, so have a lot of life and fun or have a long life and no fun. Easy choice.

With so many people sleeping below deck, wouldn't it have been wise to have a crew member on watch?

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — Democratic activists in the first primary state worry that if Joe Biden is the party’s presidential nominee, he could lose the 2020 election for some of the same reasons Hillary Clinton was defeated in 2016. Biden, 76, has consistently led the crowded Democratic field in polls in part because voters see him as the most capable of defeating President Trump in 2020. About three in four of Democratic voters considering Biden in the primary say that he is the most likely to beat Trump, according to a CBS poll released Monday. Jill Biden, the former vice president's wife, explicitly stated that voters should choose him

Americans watching the spectacle currently unfolding in the British government should not be fearful that the entire British political system is cracking up. It isn’t. The United Kingdom (of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) has been contemplating its national strategic direction since World War II. Britain has been a Great Power since the emergence of the nation-state in the 16th century, along with the French, Spanish, and Turks. The general strategic division of Europe from the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588 on was that France had the greatest army in Europe and Britain the greatest navy, and as it was an island, had little need for an army.

Propaganda of impending war, or “war scare,” is an effective method by which the Left creates mass hysteria and forces people into accepting its “peace-keeping” policies. This method was consistently used by the Communist Party in Soviet Union throughout its reign. The typical motif in the communist propaganda was that the Soviets were peace-loving and Americans were warmongers who would launch an attack at any time. Today, “war with Iran” dominates the headlines. At the center of this propaganda campaign are self-proclaimed “Iran experts” who depend on this theme to justify their legitimacy and existence. Far-left organizations such as the National Iranian American Council (NIAC)

Democratic congressional candidate Valerie Plame's (N.M.) campaign on Monday released a new ad, where she ended it with a message of having a "few scores to settle." The ad, which is titled, "Undercover," shows liberal activist and ex-CIA operative Plame driving a Chevy Camaro backwards on an empty road in rural New Mexico while narrating her background throughout the ad. "I was an undercover CIA operative. My assignment was preventing rogue states and terrorists from getting nuclear weapons. You name a hot spot, I lived it," Plame said, as Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, and North Korea flashed as text on the screen.

Todd Palin appears to have filed for divorce from former Alaska governor and one-time vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, his wife of 31 years. In a document filed Friday in Anchorage Superior Court, Todd Palin, 55, asked to dissolve the marriage, citing an “incompatibility of temperament between the parties such that they find it impossible to live together as husband and wife.” The divorce filing uses initials rather than full names, but identifies the couple’s marriage date and the birth date of their only child who is a minor, Trig Palin. The filing asks for joint legal custody of the child. Anchorage attorney Kimberlee Colbo is representing Todd Palin in the divorce.

Hurricane Dorian has claimed another victim: victory for Democrats in 2020. Last week’s marathon CNN climate forum makes it clear: Dorian blew what remained of Democrat common sense right off the map. Ask yourself, is Elizabeth Warren smart to promise she’ll ban fracking, when Democrats are desperate to win Pennsylvania in 2020, and the Marcellus fracking play has produced hundreds of thousands of jobs and tens of billions in income for the state? Does Beto O’Rourke have a future in Texas after vowing to eliminate all fossil fuels, when oil and gas taxes sustain the state’s enviable growth and even a cushy “rainy day” fund?

The Central Intelligence Agency on Monday evening slammed what it called CNN's "misguided" and "simply false" reporting, after the cable channel's chief national security correspondent authored a hole-filled piece claiming that the CIA had pulled a high-level spy out of Russia because President Trump had "repeatedly mishandled classified intelligence and could contribute to exposing the covert source as a spy." The extraordinary CIA rebuke came as The New York Times published a bombshell piece late in the evening, which largely contradicted CNN's reporting. According to the Times, CIA officials "made the arduous decision in late 2016 to offer to extract the source from Russia" -- weeks before Trump even took office.

President Trump was to have met with leaders of the Taliban this weekend. The get together was to have occurred at Camp David. The goal was to finalize a deal under which the U.S. would effectively pull out of Afghanistan, leaving it to the Taliban’s tender mercies. I agree with Rep. Liz Cheney who said: Camp David is where America’s leaders met to plan our response after al Qaeda, supported by the Taliban, killed 3000 Americans on 9/11. No member of the Taliban should set foot there. Ever. We certainly should not use Camp David to put the finishing touches on abandoning Afghanistan,

As the $90-plus million release of IT: Chapter Two proved last weekend, America loves scary clowns. But when you consider that four of them — Bernie Sanders, Lizzie Warren, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris — all beat President Trump in the latest polls, it’s not fun: it’s just scary. All four, and the others still in the race competing for the Dems’ vice-presidential nomination, are obsessed with making it much harder — and in some cases impossible — for Americans to lawfully possess and use firearms. All four would revive the federal ban on sale of “assault weapons” — whatever they are — and impose universal background checks on gun sales.

How important do Democrats think it is to beat President Trump in 2020? Obviously, most Democrats would say it’s vitally important. Four more years of the Trump presidency could allow him to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. It would worsen the climate crisis. It could cement his paranoid racism and scorn for democracy as the new American normal. Given these consequences, you would think that Democrats would be approaching the 2020 campaign with a ruthless sense of purpose. But they’re not, at least not yet. They are not focusing on issues that expose Trump’s many vulnerabilities. They have instead devoted substantial time to wonky subjects that excite

Americans are normalizing violence in their politics, but not in the way the media and the “experts” would have you believe. No, “white supremacists” are not the greatest threat to your safety, despite what Don Lemon and his cohorts in the Fake News Industrial Complex say. In fact, of 250 shootings in America wherein four or more people were shot (which is the official definition of a “mass” shooting), not one of the perpetrators was a conservative, let alone a “white nationalist.” But that hasn’t stopped the Democrats. A chick adopted by a pair of lesbian penguins will be raised gender-neutral by its keepers. The infant will be raised neither male nor female at London's Sea Life centre, where the family are kept. It's the first time the aquarium has had a non-binary animal, which comes four months after same-sex gentoo parents, Rocky and Marama, acquired the offspring. If eventually the penguin gets named, it will be given a gender-neutral name such as Kelly, Alex or Charlie, according to staff at Sea Life London.
