Chasten Buttigieg attacked Mike Pence's lunch with an openly-gay Irish leader, saying just because the two shared meal doesn't mean the vice president is 'any less homophobic.'
Buttigieg, the husband of Democratic presidential contender Pete Buttigieg, criticized a tweet on Monday from deputy White House press secretary Judd Deere, who wrote anyone who thinks Pence is 'anti-gay' should look at his lunch with Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and his partner.
'I've sat at tables with people who would gladly deny me the right to marry, who openly support conversion therapy, and who adamantly believe being gay is a choice.

'... people who would gladly deny me the right to marry, who openly support conversion therapy, and who adamantly believe being gay is a choice..."
1. There is no "natural" right to marry. Marriage is an institution which in every historic case (until15 minutes ago) was instituted to protect the rights OF CHILDREN to a legal identity, a natural kinship network, nurturance, guidance and support/property from their natural parents. "Gay" marriage is a legal fiction, not a natural right.
2. "Conversion therapy" is a freely adopted choice to get counseling to relieve the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and dysphoria which often stem from childhood sexual abuse. When those symptoms are successfully addressed, unwanted sexual ideations (esp) of a homosexual type are often relieved or transformed as a consequence. Chastain opposes sex abuse survivors' right to therapy? Or is it just unwillingly-gay people in general who don't get to have a choice?
3. "Gay as a choice"? You may not have a choice about those feelings especially if you're not allowed to seek reparative therapy (see #2) but you certainly can control how you act out on your sexual feelings, e.g. the legal term is sodomy. . If you really can't control THAT, you ought to be confined to a safe, restricted environment.

For gays to criticize people of faith for their commitment to the Word of Scripture suggests they have no reverence for God’s Word, God’s teaching. I thought the Buttigieg's were "Christians."
As long as sinners draw breath they can repent.
VP Pence is not "afraid" of homosexuals.
He, like Jesus, is willing to break bread with sinners in the hope that some might have a change of heart.

"Homophobic" is not even a real word. The Greek root and suffix together would mean an irrational fear of things that are the same; identical twins, matched pairs, double-mint gum commercials.

I'm with Jimmy Swaggart on this one. Love the homosexual, be kind to him, don't mock him, but hate his behavior.
(Chasten, by the way, has created a fake story about being rejected by his family because he is a homosexual. His family, including his pastor father, all deny that. He was a homeless bum with a large amount of student loan debt, but Peter took him in. Peter, who probably had zero student debt because his father is a professor at Notre Dame University, and ND probably participates with Harvard for tuition swaps for faculty children, now talks about the large student debt he and his husband have. That's sort of a lie. But clever.)

I would gladly deny him the right to marry, openly support conversion therapy, and adamantly believe being gay is a choice. That makes me homophobic, I suppose. If chasten is the "husband," then I suppose that makes Pete the "wife." Except men don't have husbands. I am not really homophobic, as it is not an unreasonable fear. Pete and Chasten are insane. They should get some therapy. Conversion therapy.

As I understand it, the correct term for Pete is not 'wife', it is 'bottom.
As for the word 'homophobe'.... I have no fear of homosexuals..... disgust and loathing, and a desire to never come in physical contact, yes..... but not Fear.
'Gay' used to be such a nice word..... happy and carefree, like a small child's birthday party..... until the nasty homosexuals hijacked it. Notice that they chose to hijack a word that is precisely the opposite of what they are.

If Chasten is the "husband" in this "marriage" why is he sporting his "wife's" last name?
As the husband does that mean that he's the "top" as they say in gay parlance? I'm not sure how much respect a President PeteButt would engender among US allies and adversaries knowing that he's the bottom boi.

Pence was doing his statesman duty with no prejudice by having lunch with the gay guys. These loonies are always looking for a way to create a fake story or motive to undermine their political threats. Buttgagger and Husby Chasen need to concentrate on not imagining someone's motives and get into the real world.

Nobody denies your right to marry any unmarried woman you wish, as long as she's not a minor, nor a close relative of yours. And exchanging vows with another guy doesn't make you married -- it means the two of you are playing house.

It offends females when males have husbands because it suggests that a man can give a man the same thing a woman can. It's considered a misrepresentation of sex. In any case, Chasten is upset that Mike Pence has the temerity to put his reservations aside when meeting with gay- identifying individuals.

As other posters have noted a phobia is an irrational fear of something. I don’t “fear” homosexuals. I don’t know anyone who does. We can disapprove or be disgusted by their lifestyle without hating or fearing them. Just the opposite. I am disgusted by having their lifestyle crammed down my throat and their hateful tactics being used against anyone who disagrees with their homosexuality.
