New York Times opinion writer Timothy Egan published a scathing rebuke of Evangelical Christians who "give cover to an amoral president" because they believe God is using Trump to promote their causes. The op-ed, published on Friday, notes how evangelicals allegedly have turned a blind eye toward Trump's rhetoric and appear to be thrilled by Trump's bullying antics."There has never been anyone who has defended us and who has fought for us, who we have loved more than Donald J. Trump," conservative activist Ralph Reed said at a gathering of Christian activists earlier this summer.Egan describes Vice President Mike Pence as wearing "his faith like a fluorescent orange vest,"

Exactly how has Trump been "amoral?" In his personal life? Yes, he's been married and divorced a couple times. He probably was a "playboy" in his youth but nothing that appears to be outrageous.
Bill Clinton on the other hand had a lot of questionable moral choices all the way back, including selling his soul on life issues by changing his position on abortion. Barack Obama was well known in the bathhouses of Chicago, the never talked about mysterious death of his "friend" the choir director of Rev Writ's church, and one of the only pieces of legislation that he didn't vote "present" on in the Illinois House was a bill protecting babies born alive after abortions. He really went to the mat for that one. As president he made sure to stick it to, the little mostly Black kids of DC by taking away School Choice and sticking to those Little Sisters of the Poor. Not to mention weaponizing all the powers of the federal against it's own citizens.
DJ Trump has withstood a hateful barrage of lies, threats and name calling for more than two years. He has fought tirelessly on life issues, fought for the judicial appointments he promised, and got middle America working again. They tear him apart daily as he fights to uphold our immigration laws to protect the American people.
We're never going to be lucky enough to have Jesus run for office, but, morally Trump has more in common with Him than almost ANYONE the Democrats have ever produced.

Only writer such as Timothy Egan--and those who get all their "news" from such journalisters--the people who will endlessly quote four words of an entire paragraph to "prove" Trump is a hater, believe tripe like this article.

The last couple of days, the lie-berals of this country have gone into over-drive in their quest to be totally and completely evil!!!!
They aren't even pretending that they want to be anything else any more!!! They are pure evil in the worst sense of that word!!!
Wow. And even with no pretense of wanting to do anything but destroy traditional Christianity and Judaism, how many so-called "Christians" will still vote for Demon-Rats in 202?!?!?!? Pray everybody!!!

Where can I get one of those Mike Pence orange vests? I would like to be half as righteous as he is and would not be afraid or ashamed to let anyone know.

Looks like the writer is one who obviously hates Trump, and wants to tear down all established values that has been the bedrock of our successful culture for a long time. Has he ever called anyone on the left amoral? I tend to doubt it.

You mean charlatans and phonies like NYT writers? Yeah, I hate them, too.

Trump is exposing and cleaning up the amoral mess. And yes, we do believe that God had a hand in Trump getting elected. I also believe God continues to support Trump and give him the strength to stand up against the hordes of Leftist evil doers that infest politics at the moment. So take your ignorant bigotry and just get back to your desk and crawl under it. The only thing I agree with about this article is the headline. We do tend to loathe the charlatans and phonies who are more interested in exploiting weak minds for money and gain.

Pretty easy choice. Why would Evangelicals support a political party that hates them and worships the Devil ?

Wasn't it Jesue who said, "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's and unto God what is God's"? Law is not the same as faith.

It was Jesus Christ who pointed out that the hood news would often not bring peace but division. Some will accept the Truth and some will not. Those who will not will often build behavioral defenses and strike out at those who tell the Truth.

People "hate" the Christian religion because the Christian religion convicts one of sin.

Isn't it amazing, phonies and charlatans in the church, what about charlatans and phonies in the media, the press, the government, the educational elites. I for one have contempt and disgust for all of them. At least those in the church have some chance of repentance and forgiveness. Not so sure about the rest. Heaven and Hell, maybe maybe not, for sure we'll find out some day. Or we'll go down to dust and will know nothing

Mike Pence is the furthest thing from self-righteous. I don't hear him going around judging and condemning like Egan and Buttie-edge, Hillary and others.
I've never heard Donald Trump use the language of religion to hide ulterior motives.
He doesn't pretend to be something he's not: we don't see him toting around an enormous Bible and going to church when he comes under fire as Bill Clinton did (some say a hollowed-out Bible).
Unlike BO, Trump has never claimed to be a messiah, the one we've been waiting for, the subject of Ode to Obama-like hymns.
We know what arrogant people like Egan are trying to do, that is, pry people of faith away from supporting this very flawed, imperfect man, Donald Trump. But we also know that WE, TOO, are flawed and imperfect.
As for Jesus not condemning homosexual marriage, well He didn't need to, as it was unthinkable according to the social mores of virtually every culture, ever. However, He said He didn't come to negate the Law, but to fulfill it. And clearly, Egan et al do not like to accept the whole Scripture, and probably like to avoid reading Romans, especially Chapter 1.
Egan, like Buttie-edge, pick and choose what they want, they have gigantic logs in their eyes, they take on themselves the role of judge, and sound like angry egomaniacs.
