Dior has deleted ads from its social media accounts promoting its Sauvage fragrance after it faced a backlash because of its use of Native American culture. A video on Twitter featuring a Native American dancer and an Instagram post explaining the campaign that was crafted with Native American consultants was deleted hours after the fashion house was called out for cultural misappropriation and being insensitive. As part of the Sauvage campaign, Johnny Depp stars in a film called 'We Are the Land' that is described in marketing materials as an 'ode to Mother Earth'. In the ad, the narrator says, 'We are the land'

Our world is now full of many just perched, waiting to be insulted, so that they can boycott, run to the media, rant, raise a ruckus, and generally make themselves look silly. Anyone who has been raised with legends of mighty Indians (that’s what they were called back then) and then had to live and work near the real current ones is appalled at how useless they are. They have done nothing with their “sovereignty” but foster a bunch of lazy drunks, some who don’t even appear to bathe, sopping up welfare and relying on casinos for stipends. There are no Indian heroes any more. The Native Americans did away with them.

They should have ended the ad with a close-up of Johnny's face with a big ol' tear rolling down his cheek.

The ad is creepy as heck and just plain weird—never should have been made in the first place. Johnny Depp is a freak...

Freak is right. Without a good script and professional director this loon is completely rudderless.

...factor in that to the typical liberal "sauvage" sounds just as racist as "niggardly"....

The real crime was using over-the-hill, irritating soy boy Johnny Depp as the spokesperson for an exclusive fragrance line. Just like seeing Julia Roberts in Lancôme ads is a real turn-off.

"Native Americans" have one of the highest levels of poverty in this country. I am pretty confident that they are not buying too many bottles of Sauvage by Dior!!!
And I'm guessing most of them are about as upset about this commercial as they were about the Redskins emblem -- which means they aren't in the least!!!
But, hey, in the Soviet Socialist State of Amerika these days, a few loud-mouthed lie-beral activists can destroy anything they touch in the name of all that is unholy -- also called "Political Correctness"!!!!

Seems the left has so many petards hoisted no one can avoid being perched on at least one or two regardless of what they do now.

I was a lot more offended by the movie "Dances with Wolves" than I was by the ad.

If one were to lambaste Depp for wacky insults to Native Americans, it would have been that costume he came up with in his movie about the Lone Ranger. That was a lulu.

I took two grandsons to The Lone Ranger. I was so hopping mad when we left the theater I gave the boys a lecture in the car about white men not being the worlds evil they were depicted in that movie. Got quite upset over it. I warned the boys about unconscious propaganda against white people.
Don’t think they ever did understand why I was so upset, they just thought the train wreck was really cool.
Sigh

Company uses native imagery in a positive way, even involving Native American consultants, and is lambasted. Compare and contrast with Elizabeth Warren the liar, who has no intention of abandoning her sick quest for power. Whom will the complainers vote for should she emerge as the top Democrat?
