Donald Trump’s repeated use of the name “Pocahontas” as part of an attack on Democrat Elizabeth Warren has been condemned as “an insult for political gain”, by the country’s largest indigenous rights groups. The president started using the name in a way many find offensive, even before he was elected to the Oval Office.(Snip) On Wednesday, the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), which describes itself as the oldest and largest indigenous rights organisation in the US, formally criticised Mr Trump, saying his actions were part of a long tradition of insults endured by Native Americans and other indigenous groups. “For centuries Native people

Is it intended to be insulting to Warren for exploiting Native Americans for political gain? YES.
Is it done for political gain... Sure, (that and humor).
So?
Oh... pretending to be an Aboriginal American for political gain is Ok but being Trump isn't. Got it.

#1 exactly! No outrage over Faucahontas getting special treatment for years as a Native American while being and looking Lilly White! That’s real white privilege being able to lie about your heritage and deny true minorities an opportunity and not face any penalties whatsoever! Democrats never have any shame and never face any consequences for their mendacity!

Um, it was Fauxcahontas who insulted “indigenous” peoples by fraudulently using their status to advance her own career and monetary worth, not to mention for politics gain.

How is Pocahontas a slur? She was a heroine to the English, presented at court, etc. A very respectable wife of an Englishman.
"Fauxcahontas" Gets the idea, but too few know French for it to get across to the masses. "Pocahontas" with scare quotes implying "not really" would also be accurate, but again, too few are literate. On the other hand, Crooked Hillary is an accurate description!

Trump isn't calling her that because she IS a Native American but because she ISN"T a Native American and just pretended to be to fool the college admissions board. Are these people unable to follow the logic of the joke? It actually shows his respect for authentic Native Americans and his contempt for fakes.

Does it escape these race grievence mongers that Pocahontas lied about being Pocahontas to get a coveted Ivy League quota gig and thus denied a real Pocahontas from getting the gig? Slurs hurt so bad but basic white devil woman stealing quota jobs is Ok? Come'on, man!

Warren insulted Native Americans for virtually all of her professional life before she ran for the Senate.

Have to admit that my mental image of a lovely, loyal, intelligent lass is a little unconsciously affected by the real life image of arm arm waving, shrill, annoying lying not to mention unlovely person. Kind of like if Biden, or Bernie, pretended to be Tecumseh. Hopefully, Warren will be soon forgotten.

I've known a few Indians over the years. They were usually too busy living their lives, earning their money and taking care of their families to worry about crooked DC politics. More likely it was a white person who decided to speak for them, whether they wanted him to or not.

I agree.
It's Trump's fault that Fauxcahontas has pretended to be an Indian for the last 25 years.
Impeach Trump!

Maybe they are only mad because Trump associated Pocahontas with Elizabeth Warren. What an insult to Pocahontas!
