South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg held a self-described grassroots campaign rally in Bronzeville on Tuesday night, but the overwhelmingly white audience he drew to the event in a historic black neighborhood reinforced the difficulty the Democratic presidential hopeful has had in connecting with African American voters. Buttigieg did not acknowledge the makeup of the audience in his remarks or in answering questions from the 1,000 people at the sold-out event, but did touch on it briefly as he closed the hourlong rally with a plea for his supporters.

Apparently he's not yelling RACISM loud enough. Oh, wait. It was an "overwhelmingly white" (supremacist? nationalist/) crowd.

Because most know that Butt head doesn't know what he is doing in South Bend, ignores his constituents and is a weak, self serving candidate who hates America.

Sold out 1,000 people? Probably had a rent a crowd bussed in and gave them free tickets and a T-shirt for showing up. Gay white guys won’t get much support in the black community so get a grip.

The AA community know that they're more often victims of white gay men. Look no further than Ed Buck.

Well knock me over with a feather. Blacks want nothing to do with a gay white guy that looks suspiciously like Howdy Doody and has absolutely zero to offer them? Amazing.

Whatever office Mary Pete is running for, it is not for president next year. He is running for some office--- perhaps governor or senator of Indiana--- after 2020. So are most if not all of the present Dems on the campaign circuit.

FTA: "Whoa, where are they all coming from? I've been in this neighborhood for 20 years, and I ain't never seen nothing like that before, all these white folks lined up over there. Never," Ruby Laster said
One of the better quotes in this article.

No minorities. How much of the audience was straight? How much of the audience was blue collar?
Agree with #8. Butt's candidacy is going nowhere fast.

#11, that's the money quote - how many times has this been the case, but since it's a historically African-American neighborhood, it was very noticeable.
Shows how many times the Democrats are trying to fool the people by acting as though they care by showing up in a particular neighborhood, get some publicity about being in X neighborhood, and no one is paying attention to the actual audience.

It took Mayor Pete to draw white people to the South side--LOL! I'm sure those lines of North-siders and suburbanites, who never would have ventured into the neighborhood before, went over big with the black community. Buttigieg is the candidate for the well-off, urban white liberals, gay and straight. That is not going to get him the Presidency or even the nomination.

Re#13. Correct. The fact is that the black community is very homophobic, for lack of a better term.

The homosexual lobby has worked hard to make us believe that homosexual behavior is normal. Now the homosexual lobby wants us to be fooled into voting for one of their number. The Media might be that dumb; the Supreme Court might be that dumb ... but American voters are not.

Since black voters cast a high proportion of votes in the Democrat primary, this will continue to stymie future gay Democrat candidates.
