NBC News is reporting that Democratic presidential candidate and former Texas Congressman Beto O'Rourke is looking to "reset" his campaign as he attempts to revive his political fortunes. (Snip) O'Rourke received desperately needed national attention after the El Paso massacre by calling Trump a "white supremacist" and Trump voters "racists." His frantic efforts to get attention -- much like a two-year-old throwing a tantrum -- included the outrageous statement that Trump was "inciting violence." Of course, O'Rourke failed to clarify that idiotic statement because, well, he wouldn't be able to point to a single statement by the president that incited violence in any way, shape,

This is a lark for Beto. He's hoping to use this race for a crack at running for POTUS later on and I suspect rather soon he will announce another stab at a Texas Senate seat.

Those who are feverishly hoping that Robert Francis will give up the presidential bid in order to come back to Texas and save the Dem Senate from John Cornyn are delusional. Senator Cornyn and Senator Cruz are both pretty unpopular here, but voting for a man mentally and emotionally trapped in his teenage years is not going to win that seat for the Dems.

Good observation about Captain Skateboard by the OP. Algor mortis is a good description for his situation at the moment. The fork is in so deep I doubt it will ever come out. I could never vote for any candidate who is so ashamed of his heritage he has to deny it. And both candidates doing that are democrats. I mean what is wrong with being German or Irish? Both are immigrant groups that added a lot to this nation.

On Monday, in a rich discussion with Amy Wax, Glenn Loury said blacks “have to establish through their actual performance” that they are “up to snuff.” Affirmative action is profoundly corrupting, the refreshingly honest host of The Glenn Show observed, because lowering the bar for blacks means they don’t have to meet objective standards of competence that are necessary independent of one’s race. In consequence, blacks not only need not develop or demonstrate sufficient merit; society as a whole suffers, people who aren’t necessarily qualified, or anyway, less qualified than others, getting into schools and getting jobs simply because they are the right (underperforming) race.

When is it OK to call a not-murder a murder? When Democrats need it to call it one for political gain, if I'm reading PolitiFact's Louis Jacobson correctly. The big stink this week, "largely ignored" by the Mainstream Media, is over false claims by United States senators and Democratic presidential contenders Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris that Michael Brown was "murdered" by a white policeman five years ago. Here are the candidates' own tweets: (Snip) The legal definition of murder is "the killing of a human being by a sane person, with intent, malice aforethought (prior intention to kill the particular victim or anyone who gets in the way)
