One hundred and sixty mass public shootings that have taken place in the United States since 1966. Since Parkland in February of 2018, there have been 24 additional mass shooter incidents. That was until the horrific assault rifle shootings – one right after another in Gilroy, El Paso and Dayton. In 2018, following Parkland, President Trump moved to increase the age to purchase assault weapons from 18 to the age of 21. Once again, his instincts were correct. Though the target age was short by about nine years. It should be raised to thirty. Each of these shootings committed by young men.
Since alcohol and most tobacco purchases require someone to be 21, and now many would like to see firearms purchases also require someone to be 21, which isn't too burdensome.
Someone will say "what about those who join the military, well, I'm not opposed to raising the age to join to 21 either.
Just also increase the legal age to vote, BACK to 21 then.

All these actions do nothing but punish the innocent. It's not like people around these kids didn't know there was a problem. They should look there and leave society out of it.

This wouldn't have stopped the Las Vegas shooter. That being said, no one is really trying to address what is really going on. When I was in high school, most young men drove pickup trucks to school with gun racks with guns in them. Not sure if they hunted on their way home, or if it was just a cool thing to do. In the last 30-40 years, there are so many issues that have surfaced. Unrestricted abortions, autism on the rise, gender confusion, single parent families, widespread welfare, rampant drug use, and I could go on and on. But I'm suspecting the real reason is that every belief system that built this great country is in the process of being destroyed.

If young Amricans, 18 years old can go to war with full- auto battle rifles as well as more powerful weapons, it is senseless to use the arbitrary designation of 'assault rifle' to infringe on the 2nd Amendment. An assault rifle is any gun, firing a any caliber bullet, possessing a pistol grip, a clip with multiple rounds, and capable of semi-automatic fire.
Hell! Pistols fit the description!
What should be required is mandatory training in firearms and ethics in our schools for anyone over 12. And get rid of 'gun-free zones'. They're shooting galleries for the monsters who contemplate mass shootings. If you are licensed and carry, it shouldn't matter if you walk into school with your gun. Or a church, or a federal building. If these wanna-be killers want to kill, let them know there are people all around them with the means to stop them.

I fired a fully automatic M16 at age 17. Fired a 5" cannon at 18. Carried a '45 for many years enforcing our smuggling laws as a commissioned officer in the USCG many years ago. So Wash DC will train others to use real assault weapons, but doesn't feel they are responsible to own a semi-automatic rifle?

They are not assault rifles or assault weapons or anything of that nature. But they are semi-automatic rifles that have a militaristic design to the stock and accessories. The big lie gets perpetuated day in day out.

No. Absolutely not. They have tried since early in the last century to restrict the citizenry's access to weapons under the guise of safety and this is no different. You could buy a Thompson sub-gun mail-order early last century. A real (though quite heavy) machine gun. The commies aka democrats should be made to answer for why the citizenry's safety has decreased as they added these additional 'common sense' infringements of our natural rights. It's time to repeal all the nonsensical unconstitutional laws concerning weapons, restore state mental institutions where the mentally ill can be placed. who are currently on the streets, and remove the commies from every institution in this land. Do that and watch things turn around. Do that and bring God back into the public square and schools. Anybody that doesn't like it; there's no wall keeping them in, they can go to any other country that will have them where they would 'feel more comfortable'. But it's time to put a stop to the democrat nonsense that has been going on for over a century. Exile them, hang them, don't care. Get them out.

BULL.
I gave two young friends a bare AR lower reciever as a gift (with parent's permisison in advance) when they were 16 years old. Over the next year they selected an purchased the componene parts to assemble their own AR rifles, to their own tastes - many different pieces can be chosen.
These two young men are now in the USMC, and from their experience with the rifles, each qualified :Expert" on the rifle range.
This is just BS.

How stupid. When it comes to a wacko, age doesn't matter; neither does money. They'll just steal what they need from someone else. Demonrats are completely illiterate.

A truck driven by an 18 year old into a crowd is just as if nor more effective than a rapid fire assault rifle. Remember Nice attack: "Truck driver named as France mourns 84 killed in Bastille Day atrocity" The Guardian 16/7/2016. The weapon does not matter: Where there is a will there is a way,

PS: If statistically it is proven that proportionally the rate of "gun related" crime and lethal outcomes (mostly on their own people) is far higher among Blacks and POC than among the rest of the population of the USA, would it not be just as reasonable to legally ban "gun sales and gun ownership" to blacks? Perhaps Black Lives don't matter after all, when criminally terminated by other Blacks using guns..

Let's be consistent. 3,000 teens die annually from texting while driving. Latest figure I saw said 'mass shootings' had a death toll of 378. Smart phones 'kill' almost ten times that. In addition, there are about 300,000 accidents that don't kill but injure (and you and I know how bad car wreck injuries can be).
Let's also ban smart phones for anyone under 21.
