Tell us a few details about you and we’ll guess which political party you belong to. It shouldn’t be that simple, right? We’re all complex people with a multiplicity of identities and values. But the reality is that in America today, how you answer a handful of questions is very likely to determine how you vote.
This quiz, based on recent surveys with more than 140,000 responses, presents a series of yes-or-no questions to predict whether someone is more likely to identify as a Democrat or a Republican. It captures divisions that should make you worried about the future of American democracy.
I have a simpler question. Which party wants to expand our freedoms?

I completed the quiz and did not see the comment you reference, #3. But, I'm tough enough to handle it. [grin]

Here's the question that should decide the issue: "If someone disagrees with you politically, do you try to destroy them?"
It used to be that conservatives would normally answer no to the above. But recently I've noticed the desire to boycott people and companies based on political stances has grown among both parties.
Part of that is a response to the politicization of everything by the Left. Thanks to Leftists like Al Gore, you can't turn on a light or flush a toilet without participating in someone else's political agenda. The Left has made the personal political, and it has polluted every aspect of American life. In order to resist, conservatives feel compelled to boycott companies and individuals that contribute to this trend.
In the past, men and women of good faith could disagree about who to vote for and continue to work together and tolerate one another. Now, the political debates are about fundamental things and the wrong decisions will have direct personal consequences for everyone involved. Americans have become enemies to one another, and it will not end well.

I took the survey, wound up +2D. Last time I voted for a Democrat was Carter in 1976. So much for the scientific method as applied to politics.
I took the test a second time, changed from "white" to "Hispanic" (I'm one-eighth), wound up +48D.
Seems that, according to the Times, Identity Politics trumps individual views. That is a prescription for disaster.

The article concludes that white Republicans are racist and Democrats are open to all. It always comes down to race with the left. Women, blacks Hispanics, Asians and whatever are getting screwed by whites. Let’s face the facts...whites are sick and tired of being bullied by the left and we are starting to push back and they don’t like it. Trump is a bully? Well excuse me! He’s the one being bullied and he pushes back. Sorry, I digress. This article is hogwash.

The NYT got me wrong completely. Its quiz said I am +7 D. FYI, I vote in nearly every election, including primary municipal elections. I have NEVER "pulled the lever" for a D in my 50 years of living. NEVER. The NYT is FOS.

One question will decide. Do you like President Trump? Yes or No

LDotters: Please remember the NY Times is no longer a newspaper or reporting organ. The Times exist solely to pander to the emotions of their subscribers, a service for which they pay handsomely. Trump bashing is the Times only business model and the company will probably go bankrupt at the conclusion of the Trump administration.
While it may be habitual for some, it is most necessary to cease looking at the NY Times as the "newspaper of record." For further information, please follow the posted link. Thank you.

Well, I took the quiz, and I was nearly always just a bit on the side of the Republicans. I noticed they had a graph on the religious question which divided Protestants into several lanes as to how religious they are, but no similar introspection among Catholics or Jews. Maybe that is because the separation among Protestants is more readily seen? At any rate, because I am female and unmarried I ended up just a bit to the right of even. I have only voted for one Democrat in my live, and that was Rudy Perpich for Minnesota Governor. That year, the GOP candidate was pro-choice, and Rudy was not pro-choice, but pro-life. One other thing, I was raised by a conservative Mom who always talked about the dangers of strong, centralized government. I think she was ahead of her time. Actually I am certainly not a bit close to the center in my voting pattern. They erred greatly in predicting my vote.

NYT....nope.
Simple. Who wants few restrictions on your life, less government intrusion?
