In a remarkable admission today on Twitter AFL-CIO Labor Union President Richard Trumka supports the principle of illegal alien workers taking the jobs of American workers. This is quite a bucket of sunlight upon a previously hidden agenda. (Tweets)It is quite remarkable to see a large U.S. labor union now standing in support of illegal workers in the U.S. There was a time, throughout the history of labor unions, when some of the strongest immigration voices were against American worker displacement. Apparently that time is passed.
The United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union was recently impacted by a federal immigration authority raid in Mississippi;

Much like the dying Democrat Party importing members and voters, a dying labor union is looking to import new dues payers.

'only crime is working hard for a better life' Uh, no. The crime is entering our country through the back door. He doesn't know that? He needs to know that there is a right way and wrong way to come into the U.S. He needs to know that there are legal aliens and there are illegal aliens. There actually is a difference.

What do the union workers say? Are they happy to get lower pay to match those of the illegals?

Union leaders do not care who is paying dues as long as dues are being paid. It's really that simple.

Unions don’t like to move backwards. They sell themselves to workers by how many concessions they negotiate from employers not how many times they’ve backed down. They priced their workers right out of jobs in the U.S. and need a new crop so they can start again from scratch. Plus, they want to organize people all over the world and hold them in their clutches even if the members return to their countries of origin. In other words, they want to own people for life.

I've heard that Cesar Chavez, when organizing the grape pickers in California, was against new arrivals, as they would work for less, and undercut the whole basis for why he was trying to organize a union - to gain better wages but mostly for better working conditions since they were horrendous back in the 1960's.
So, to hear the AFL-CIO is now okay with illegal aliens to be employed to help with the census is mildly stunning, except they aren't likely just sending any illegal aliens into certain neighborhoods, but those similar to the ones who worked precincts in California to help register legal citizens to vote, and then gathered their ballots.
Do not underestimate the level of coordination that will be ensuing in states like California who will ensure they have activists and organizers flooding certain neighborhoods.
I suspect they will be telling many of them they should expect to gain amnesty once the Democrats control the House, Senate and WH. Don't expect the Dems will hold back on this type of swift action, if they regain that type of control.

Actually Cesar Chavez and several members of the United Farm Workers Union went down to the Mexican border and intercepted illegal aliens before they could cross. The also used violence and intimidation to get the migrants to go home. I guess the unions and Dems have a short memory.

I remember my Dad telling me how the democrats weren't the party of labor. They were the party of ORGANIZED labor. Now they aren't even that. Everything is Socialist and Communist with them, and the AFL-CIO is part of that.

Another report says that half of these illegals were immediately released "for humanitarian reasons", apparently because they have children.
That is NUTS. Go and get the kids and deport ALL of them.

I was a labor arbitrator for 31 years, trying cases from the private, public and non profit sectors, and I never saw a labor agreement with wages tied to the minimum wage rate. Never.
Undoubtedly, increasing the minimum wage rate indirectly puts pressure on negotiations to increase the wage scale in a union agreement, but indirect is the key word.
Management would be foolish to negotiate a labor agreement with such an uncertainty included in the contract.

What did the AFL-CIO head honchos get in return for the favor? Will their forced union members agree to giving up their jobs and letting illegals have them?
