America is sick. Just about everybody recognizes it, and we didn’t need two more mass shootings to convince anybody of anything. Most Americans think the country is on the wrong track, despite a roaring economy. You can blame Donald Trump, but Americans have been unsatisfied with the country’s direction for most of the last two decades.

Silly half-baked sentences. "Nationalization" is quite a word, JG, hope it made your week.

The only way this article makes sense is if "nationalism" is the equivalent of anti-federalism -- the love of Big Government (i's a bit counter-intuitive, but "federalism" advocates a limited federal government).
That's a convenient glossing-over, in attempting to equate Constitutional fervor with Marxist power-mongering I don't, so I won't, thank you.
Ironically, Jonah has Jumped the Shark.

A quick read found no real content, no real solution, just a disagreement with "nationalism".
Very unsatisfying, just disagreeing and saying 'both sides are wrong' without offering anything constructive in as an alternative.

I tend to disagree with Jonah Goldberg. I have been saying in so many of my posts on this website that when God is taken out of society, so is the hearts of people. Continuing to let atheists run the show will result in many people living lives in their own selfish ways rather than God's way.

We know how to fix the problem, but the left and many on the right don't want to fix the problem.

While I agree with #5 that the issue with America is Godlessness, I disagree with him or her about the ability to get God back into society via lawmakers and laws. You can't legislate a relationship with God anymore than you can legislate morality, and if you try to force Him on people, it becomes a sick, twisted, ungodly mess in short order.
Perhaps hitting rock bottom is what America really needs. I have found in my own life that that's what drives most people to seek out a loving God who is patiently waiting for them to come to Him!

Jonah, the never Trumper who has ruined his career the past few years, continues toward rock bottom.

The only way we can "solve" this is to go back to a structured family with a religious foundation. The internet has promoted,in my opinion, all of the decline of civility and RESPECT.

Huh? This sounds like something that was written after a huge hangover that isn't over yet.

America is not sick. She is being attacked daily, 24/7, by the so called news media. They are actually a bunch of mentally disturbed democrats who have most TV networks in the palm of their hands. We are told daily we are a divided country. We are not. We are just over run by illegals who are pouring in to the country by the millions. At heart, America is a kind, loving nation filled with good people.

What a meandering, meaningless article with whining about "nationalism" but pablum "solutions".
"When each tribe seeks to impose a one-size-fits-all “Highest Good” on all Americans,"
The quote is what is going on in Jonah's fevered head. Trump is NOT imposing a one size fits all solution. He is enforcing established LAW and trying, in many cases, to devolve solutions to the states or the people to work out themselves. Trump has offered up many compromise solutions but the dems hatred and the Republicans inanity have prevented any progress. Jonah's own TDS precludes his recognizing any of this.

No, you can blame Donald Trump. Imagine the NR of WFB operating on the premise that the spiritual malaise of America is solved, not caused, by government and the political class.
