Her best-selling book and the racy TV series it inspired taught a generation of women that they could ‘have it all’. But Sex and the City creator Candace Bushnell, 60, has admitted that she regrets choosing a career over having children as she is now ‘truly alone’. The TV series starred Sarah Jessica Parker as a writer in New York who famously chooses her independence over motherhood.(Snip) The former sex columnist, who is worth around £18million, told the Sunday Times: ‘When I was in my thirties and forties, I didn’t think about it. ‘Then when I got divorced and I was in my fifties,

Lots of people her age have a basement full of Millennial adult-children, who are apparently in no hurry to move out. Count your blessings.

I had a couple of friends that got divorced because of the program. Their wives became so captivated with it that they imagined a life of lunches and champagne with the girls that never materialized.

Choices, Candace. Life is always about choices. And in the immortal words of the Knights Templar from Indiana Jones, "You chose poorly."

Ah yes, Sluts in the City, that wonderful HBO series that drove its viewers ever closer to the fetid moral sewer.

Some folks don't have kids for good reasons. I get that. Some folks can't have children and that is a pain I don't wish on anyone.
But this dame. i have no pity. She lied to a generation of women about the value of marrying, being committed to that marriage and your husband, raising children, and making the best of everything in times both good and bad. We used to call that being a grown up. In my world, we still do. Her view of sex and relationships is a mockery of everything Godly and good between a man and woman.
I hope she feels every bit of the shame and the sadness she deserves for the lies she taught as truth to countless young, stupid, vulnerable women.

And yet, even if she'd had children, there's no guarantee that they'd want to associate with her right now! Having children so you won't be alone later in life is a rather immature and selfish reason to have them--unless, of course, you intend to make them PERMANENT children, that is, and then it tends to backfire on you!

I thought I didn’t want to have children until one day I talked to my great aunt who was into her 80’s and my great uncle had died. She and my great uncle didn’t get married until she was over 40 because of her mom. She said her biggest regret was marrying so late and not being able to have children. She was such a dear.

#13, oh yeah - they'd want to associate with her. She has the money. They'd try to keep her happy until she's too mentally incompetent to change the will.

Toxic 70's feminine screwed over many women, sadly living alone and childless today. I find those pathetic who still cling to their aging feminism. Sad.

That any adult would think 'Sex and The City' is an accurate reflection of the real world-- or would allow a TV program to influence their real-world decisions-- blows my mind. But then I suppose there are many who are chronlogically adults without the appropriate accompanying judgement and common sense.

Alone and rich has its good points. You can always find volunteer work with children and then come home to your quiet house. Many women would choose the other way if they had the chance. Being a writer of fictional life does not necessarily mean that she believed her own BS.

For starters, so you won't be lonely in your old age is no reason to have children. The way kids are today I thank Jesus everyday that I don't have them. Secondly, it was Studio 54 not Studio 50.

My wife and I have 46 years of marriage, four married children and fifteen grandchildren. We are not close to having a monetary fortune, but we are nonetheless very rich. I’m grateful for every blessing-including the noise!
