MEDORA, N.D. — A teenage visitor to a national park in North Dakota has been injured by a bison. Officials at Theodore Roosevelt National Park say the 17-year-old girl from Colorado was on a trail Saturday and walked between two bull bison that had been fighting. One bison charged the teen who was struck in the back, gored in the thigh and tossed about six feet in the air. Park rangers and Billings County paramedics treated the girl at the scene until the victim could be taken by helicopter to a Bismarck hospital. Authorities say the teen is in stable condition.

I was initially going to type something lame about a 15-day waiting list for bison but that wouldn't solve anything.
Besides, who walks between two pissed-off fighting bull buffalo?
A teenager, that's who.
How about a 25-year waiting list for dingdongs?

Somehow a movie called "The Bison" doesn't seem as good as "The Birds".

Gee, a wild animal actually HURT someone? Who'd a thunk it?
Those of us who live in the country (and perhaps those of us who don't but still have a measure of common sense left) know that ANY wild animal can hurt you no matter how big or small it is. If you think a squirrel is all cute fluffiness, then you haven't paid attention to its teeth--same thing goes for cute, little bunnies--with big chompers and large, strong back feet.
I hereby propose a stupidity test for all those who want to visit state and federal parks. Let's say we use some cute, cuddly (but extremely deadly creature) so that pass, you're alive and fail, you're dead. THAT should cut down on the ignorant who are looking to get up close and personal with nature!!

Ha! Stable? This girl wasn't stable before the attack. Her actions were just like walking across a dark highway at night while wearing black clothes. These things weigh tons and were fighting. What did she think was going to happen, a group hug?

Life is all about choices.
We watched a pair of bison bulls fighting in Yellowstone....from inside the car. You would really have to be dimwitted not to grasp that they can really hurt you. The sound of a 2000 lb + bull smacking into the side of his opponent is like a fist hitting a gut, times 50.
Not the bison's fault.

Um, it’s rutting season. Mating season. Read on:
When there are endless sights of picnic baskets, flip flops, and tanned legs, it's a perfect time to travel to a park or refuge to see the rut, or the bison mating season. The rut lasts each year from June to September, with most of the activity occurring between July and August. Breeding is strongly seasonal and very promiscuous. Bison are not monogamous, but rather polygynous, meaning bulls are will mate with more than one female, but females will only mate with one bull.

I'm going to give the girl a pass on this. First, she's a teenager. When it comes to most things dealing with the outdoors, most teenagers are utterly clueless. I'll bet she was locked on her phone texting her friends while walking, and didn't even notice the animals. Second, it's better than even money she hadn't read or even noticed signs advising caution when walking on trails. Besides, again she was probably on her phone texting or talking to her friends about how lame it is being on a family vacation with her little brother. She just needed some alone time away from her family to converse with her friends, so she took a walk and found some new friends.

She's already one year older than those the Democrats want to give the vote. With this kind of intelligence and situational awareness she could make some real smart choices.

Did she even realize what had been going on and that it wasn't over? A teenager isn't known to have a degree in biology and spend her working hours in the Parks service.
