WASHINGTON — Col. Kathryn A. Spletstoser of the Army says she had returned to her hotel room and was putting on face cream on the night of Dec. 2, 2017, after a full day at the annual Reagan National Defense Forum in California, when her boss, Air Force Gen. John E. Hyten, the commander of United States Strategic Command, knocked on her door and said he wanted to talk to her.
The military’s itinerary of General Hyten’s movements that day in Simi Valley, which was viewed by The New York Times, said he was having “executive time.” Colonel Spletstoser said in an interview

I'd love to know if this general is one of the replacements for competent generals. Remember when Barry did that?

Off on a tangent here. The conditions for these types of accusations whether true or false will continue as long as taxpayer funded junkets continues. There are far to many conferences, TDY boondoggles, and assorted social gatherings going on all under the banner of national security. Technology today allows secure video-teleconferencing if I need a face to face, but the real kicker is time. If a general and his staff can afford to jet around and hob-nob, why do I need them in the first place? Military related think tanks and consultants are out of control. If these guys are so critical, put 'em in uniform and let them solve our problems. It's about time the flags and their staffs do the job they've been hired to do or can their behinds.

Women in the military are not the problem. Men and women who do not conduct themselves in a professional manner is the problem. Neither should put themselves in a comprising position. Hold all meetings in public spaces and/or with more than two people.
That said, if true she should have come forward before now. Now it looks like a hit job--either political or personal.

Okay, ladies this is not a difficult issue. Never open your door to a man when you are staying in a hotel, ever even if they are friends, associates or persons in authority. You and a man, who is not your husband, alone in a room is not a good idea for both of you for obvious reasons. Any conversation can take place outside the room. Go downstairs in a public place but putting yourself in a private room is never a good idea. Regardless of what the feminists want to tell you, men and women are different. Men perceive things differently and if you truly want to keep any relationship above board, you will protect yourself and even his if necessary by setting down the rules. Many women have to swallow the hard pill of regret unnecessarily. Be smart, be wise, and respect yourself.

Yes, #3, because then the accused could get a fair trial perhaps.

I don't trust the NYT, and I don't trust a woman (especially a "tough" military one) who isn't brave enough to get justice at the time of an event but comes out later to get "justice" and fulfill her "moral responsibility" with the help of leftists.

#7 may be one of the wisest posts I’ve ever read …. Yes, men are different and yes, they can get the wrong idea from a woman - especially if they are allowed into her hotel room while she’s putting on face cream. (This woman does not put on face cream while fully clothed in her daywear, but after taking off those clothes and getting ready for bed.)
Mixed signals have messed up a lot of lives, I’ll bet.

When the New York Times reports on a mililtary story the writer usually gets it wrong. Colonel Spletsalot should have reported the assault immediately...waiting two years is a big question mark. Did it really happen? I doubt it. General Hyten is an idiot.

Sorry but this is just a bit to convenient... nd just a bit more than absurd... A Full BIRD COL?... that has been in Command Positions was not well aware of her responsibility to report Sexual improprieties immediately? She is not some Pvt or A1C that is still fresh out of Highschool and never been away from home or served Non-judicial punishment or recommended JAG proceedings... for just the same offences... Perhaps she wanted to protect her prospective future STAR by remaining silent?? That would be Morally correct thing to do wouldn't it?

I can buy that she might not have wanted to ruin her career at the time. But if she EVER thought she might need to report this she would have kept evidence. Did she learn nothing from Monica Lewinski? This is a smart, savvy woman. I don't believe her.
