Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris will unveil a plan on Friday to invest $60 billion in historically black colleges and universities if elected, the latest effort by the U.S. senator from California to reach out to black voters. She will also release a plan to spend $12 billion on entrepreneurship programs aimed at the black community, her campaign said. Harris is one of two dozen Democrats in a field led by former Vice President Joe Biden seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Republican President Donald Trump in the November 2020 election. She has consistently polled behind Biden among black voters

She does know the difference between “invest” and “spend”..as in “we will steal $60 billion from our children’s future and spend it to prop up racially segregated schools.

Doesn't this constitute a form of BLATANT racist discrimination? I guess it's like "affirmative action". It reminds me of the old joke about the farmer who could never be pinned down to a definitive statement. Finally somebody asked him while they sat on a fence surrounding sheep which had just been sheared: " Those sheep sure got shaved close " said the old farmer. His spry companion replied," Well, it looks like it from this angle".

Another form of reparations, Horizontal Harris?

It amazes me that candidates such as Kamala Harris and Cory Booker continue to speak and promise as if the only voters who matter are black. They don't talk about other minorities and certainly don't mention Caucasian citizens. I get it that they are trying to turn out black voters, but do they understand they are risking turning OFF everyone else? Who wants to vote for a candidate who makes it clear he or she will not be representing me, an elderly white woman?

How come there are 'historically black' colleges in the first place? Isn't that some legacy of Jim Crow-style segregation? Shouldn't these institutions be targeted for destruction like the Confederate was memorials, or murals depicting Thomas Jefferson and George Washington were?
Hypocrisy.

After spending more than 22 trillion dollars on the war on poverty along with trillions more on government programs, I think enough has been spent. It's time for a culture change in the black community when 70% of blacks are born out of wedlock. When getting a Cadillac Escalade is more important than getting an education. When the whole mindset of most of those in the black community is based of racism and getting theirs. We saw another example of just what is a waste of money this would be just the other day with blacks throwing buckets of water on cops doing their duty. Enough already.

HCCs are the perfect example of self-segregation by blacks.

She’s trying to hide the fact that her ancestors were slave owners. Pandering, much.

Vice President is their goal and to bring the black vote. Trump blows them out when the blacks don't support Democrats. Both Harris and Booker have no shot as the head of the ticket. Obama's record and multiple ongoing smidgens of corruption killed that.

If Democrats truly wanted to help, they would have already done so in the last 50+ years.
And, you'd have thought during Obama admin., they would have made a bigger push towards that goal, but they didn't, and many have been critical about this lack of attention for the African-American communities, particularly in many of our inner-cities.
So, why the bigger push NOW?
Likely, they're seeing the polls and the declining support for liberal/progressive policies, so this type of "hey, we still care about you" program designed to fool them one more election.

Sorry Pam; there ain’t enough blacks in this country to get you into the House built by slaves (according to black history). Goes for Spartacus too. You’re a total turn-off for whites, both of you.

First, President Nixon boosted federal aid to historically black colleges, to provew he was not a racist.
Second, we have two historically black colleges in Pennsylvania - Lincoln University, which is private, but partially supported by Pennsylvania taxpayers, and Cheney State University, part of the 14 member State System of Higher Education universities..
Lincoln has a beautiful campus, but was badly harmed by a woman president and her husband, who she put in charge of buildings and grounds.
I don't know their condition now, but it was not in good financial shape a decade ago.
Cheney State is a basket case, with enrollments dwindling down to about 500, but it will never be closed, because...it is what it is.
Ohio has Wilberforce, which is their Cheney kind of basket case. There was talk of forcing a merger between Wilberforce and Central State, also an HBC, but I don't know what happened.

Why all this attention to historically black colleges? From your ancestors and parents you are not even black. You are Jamaican and East Indian.
Also stop making promises you will never keep.

Does she think $60 billion will buy enough intelligence for the blacks to catch p to the whites ?

In addition, #15, the Reagan administration spent taxpayer money through DoD and Cadet Command for boosting reading and grammar scores for cadets "graduating" from HBCs. IOW, taxpayer funding of remedial English for commissioned officers so they could communicate orally and in writing on the job. Pathetic.

To a large extent most of the HBC's are nothing more than an extension of high school.

Where did she pull the numbers from, her hat ? 'All Black' colleges are illegal, if no Whites can apply. Is there an "all White' college that refuses to accept minorities/Blacks ?

Ho is a fake African-American, with Jamaican and Indian parents. Born exactly where? A citizen of exactly what country? Some enterprising reporter needs to investigate, i.e. do his/her job, and vet the ho's birth and citizenship.

Some words put you over the edge like "historically black colleges" Imagine saying "historically white colleges" or any title with white in it.
Imagine the White Caucus. Barry and MOOoochelle only spoke at "historically black colleges" She only interviews with black reporters with the exception of Diane Sawyer, the Rachel Dolezal of the media.
Yeah, Barry put race relations back over 50 years.
