The latest video by popular man-on-the-street interviewer Austen Fletcher efficiently captures the alarming homeless situation in the city of Los Angeles, particularly the infamous "Skid Row," wherein reside thousands of homeless people — most of whom are either suffering severe psychological problems or substance addiction, and among whom hundreds of sexual predators roam. The 4-minute video, which Fletcher (also known as Fleccas) says he filmed in just one hour, is presented as a final look at the area he's moving out of because of the rapidly deteriorating situation. In the area, he explains, there's been a 50% increase in homelessness since 2012

With the out of control homeless situation in California what it is, why are the people of California still electing leftist and liberal Democrat politicians who are obviously ignoring the very serious homeless situation, and instead are pleased as punch to welcome unlimited numbers of poor, uneducated, and socialist oriented illegal aliens to California?

The history of US homelessness can somewhat be laid at the feet of Lady Bird Johnson. She had been influenced by a renegade psychologist/psychiatrist who did not believe in traditional psych care. Many of our long-term psych facilities (which were admittedly often places of abuse) were closed. But the promises of community-based residential homes and psych care were never fulfilled. Our chronically ill were simply dumped on the street where they commit crimes, use drugs, sell themselves as prostitutes, etc. Our liberal friends and their legal allies fought for rights to refuse care - if they weren't a 'danger' to themselves or others. And they continue to fight for homeless rights to sleep or shite wherever they want. Austin, Texas just this month passed an ordinance allowing the homeless to camp on city sidewalks. It is only a matter of time before 6th Street will be known more for the smell of sewage than music.

Re #3, go to the California Secretary of State’s website and have a look at voter registration numbers. About 5 million Republicans when I last looked. Represents only about 1/3 of the voters. Democrats now have about 40%. The rest are No Party Preference. That is why the broad brushstrokes about “why do Californians allow this to happen?” are senseless. Indicate lack of knowledge.
Many of us are hoping Dems get sick of the left-wing nonsense. Remember the Democrats who shifted to Reagan? This stuff costs them, too, and not all believe it is a blessing to be taxed to smithereens. Pendulums have swung before.

First, i'll bet many of them a registered to vote, and do vote with the harvesting laws making it legal to collect ballots by anyone, even not related.
Second, #3, because people want to think they care, and Democrats push for those programs, and as long as they contain these people into areas that don't affect the more affluent, they are okay with it being out of sight, out of mind.
#4, so just imagine, today's Democrats want all sorts of government-run facilities, and no one seems to remember those horrible "mental" hospitals, or any of the other government-run facilities that few want to visit or be cared by.
The homeless problem is worse than most think. People are essentially camping out anywhere they can find, under freeway bridges, along the railroad tracks, in back of buildings, on the side walk in front of businesses even.

# 3 - one of the reasons idiots keep getting re-elected is gerrymandering. Voter rolls are a joke. I've even heard of people having to vote in a district where they don't live. And I'm old enough to remember Dan Rostenkowski (sp) getting elected while in prison. With the advent of computer voting, we pretty much have lost our real voting power to anyone clever with computers. All we do have right now are numbers. There are enough people who think conservative to win elections. That's why the democrats are so rabid about herding in illegals.

California has passed the point of no return. Productive people are leaving, parasites are flocking there for the goodies, taxes are being increased to attempt to fund their massive debt-creating programs. I don't care how much revenue Silicon Valley produces, they are all headed down the tubes. Wait until the riots begin when these people are sick, starving and can't get their needles.
I'll make a wild guess and venture that the tourist trade in the formerly magnificent cities has dwindled to almost nothing.

I have a niece who moved out there ten years ago with the typical dream of movie stardom. She moved back to flyover country this year.
