SAN FRANCISCO -- According to the California Retailer's Association three cities in our state are among the top 10 in the country when it comes to organized retail crime--Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sacramento. Already we are seeing the negative impact it is having in San Francisco with stores permanently shutting down or closing early. It has become one of the most pressing issues in our city today. Target has now acknowledged that San Francisco is the only city in America where they have decided to close some stores early because of the escalating retail crime. For more than a month

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. -- The Georgia Department of Natural Resources is trying to catch an exotic cat that’s on the loose in Historic Brookhaven. The agency has received at least three reports this week about a serval, which is native to Africa, roaming the neighborhood that borders Atlanta and Brookhaven. One of those reports came from Kristine Frank. “I’m laying in bed and I hear a thump on my bed and I’m thinking my dog is 15-years-old,” Frank recalled. “She can’t get up on our bed anymore.” On Wednesday, Frank, who lives off Club Drive NE, woke up to the cat

DENVER — More than 150 fire scientists signed a letter this week urging the western part of the U.S. to forgo the use of fireworks this Fourth of July. The letter included scientists and college professors, 15 of whom were from Colorado universities including CU-Boulder, Colorado State University and Colorado College. "The July 4th weekend in the United States this year will be like no other we’ve experienced in the nation’s history," the letter reads in part. "The extreme heat impacting the northwestern United States and Canada this week comes on top of an already record-setting drought across much of

Taliban forces in Afghanistan have banned women from leaving the house alone and forced men to grow beards as US troops withdraw from the war-torn country. The Taliban has unleashed a reign of terror in recent weeks and seized control of dozens of areas in a bid to regain power as the last of American troops left on Friday. The terror group has seized control of a third of Afghanistan - and most of that territory was captured in the last two weeks. The people of Afghanistan face being plunged back beneath the rule of a brutal regime who enforce strict .

Hours after Vice President Kamala Harris snapped at NBC News anchor Lester Holt last month in an interview from Guatemala, she was still showing signs of exasperation with questions about why she was not also going to the U.S.-Mexico border in her role dealing with waves of migrants to the U.S. (Snip) It was the kind of moment that has even supporters questioning her political acumen — underscoring why Harris, nearly six months into her term as a history-making vice president, consistently lags in polls behind President Biden, has failed to get the same honeymoon with voters, draws more critical media

The projected path of Hurricane Elsa shifted slightly away from South Florida on Saturday morning as the system continued to barrel through the Caribbean, but forecasters caution there’s still considerable uncertainty about the storm’s likely course. The storm’s forecast cone shifted west, removing almost all of coastal South Florida. But some models still show it striking the region, and the National Hurricane Center said there’s unusual uncertainty in the long-term track. And the cone shows only the possible locations of the storm’s center, which means hurricane-force or tropical-force winds could extend well outside the cone. Elsa’s forward speed of 31

He used to be commander in chief, but former President Obama says the "top dog" in his household is definitely his wife. "I'm generally the brunt of every joke in my household," Obama said of life with wife Michelle and the couple's two adult daughters, in a Thursday interview on Dax Shepard and Monica Padman's Spotify podcast, "Armchair Expert." "Michelle, she's the top dog because they're scared of her," he quipped of the former first lady and his daughters, Malia, 22, and Sasha, 20. "Michelle always says that you have to have at least one parent who the kids think

The White House dove into damage control this week after reports of dysfunction and infighting in Vice President Kamala Harris' office, with the administration trying to stop a drama-filled narrative from taking hold, according to five people who spoke to CNN about the dynamics within Harris' office. Two people close to Harris' team said some individuals inside the vice president's office are frustrated with what they see as a dysfunctional operation that has been at times waylaid by internal conflict. Some of that ire is directed squarely at Harris' chief of staff, Tina Flournoy, those people said. Another source close

Anyone hoping Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer would retire at the onset of the summer recess received a discouraging sign on Friday. The high court confirmed Breyer, who is the oldest justice on the bench at the age of 82, hired four clerks for the fall term, according to a report by Bloomberg. The news is sure to frustrate Left-leaning court advocates who have increasingly pressed for Breyer to step down after the sudden death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg last year gave former President Donald Trump the chance to cement a conservative majority on the court with the appointment

An imported woke leftist culture is 'racialising' France, causing splits in society and holding back ethnic minorities, President Emmanuel Macron has claimed. Macron said the political left's insistence on defining their countrymen by their ethnicity and depicting them as victims is causing rifts, and blamed social science ideas that have come from the United States. (Snip) He also pointed blame at feminists and black rights activists for seeking to define people according to their gender and their skin colour, arguing that such views cause rifts in French society and limit social mobility among ethnic minorities. Disney World has made another change at its Orlando, Florida, theme park as part of the company's initiative to become more inclusive. Employees were invited to a "cast member" preview of the "Happily Ever After" fireworks show at Magic Kingdom on Wednesday. The event was the first fireworks showing hosted at Disney World since the nightly shows were halted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. While the fireworks show seemingly remains unchanged, the preshow recording is now different. As heard in videos shared by employees, Disney World has replaced the "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls" greeting with one

Dozens of looters moved into Afghanistan's Bagram Airfield just hours after U.S. troops vacated the airfield after a nearly 20-year occupation. The district administrator for the town of Bagram, Darwaish Raufi, told the Associated Press that since the troops' departure was not coordinated with local officials, the airfield's gates were not secured. This allowed looters to unlawfully enter before Afghan forces could secure the airfield. "Unfortunately the Americans left without any coordination with Bagram district officials or the governor's office," Raufi said. "They were stopped and some have been arrested and the rest have been cleared from the base," Raufi
