The Green New Deal was never

In Europe, you will often hear politically savvy people refer to Green Party politicians as "watermelons." The reason is that although they might be environmentalist "green" on the outside, these leftists are secretly communist red if you look beneath the surface. They typically resort to such subterfuge because environmentalism is more popular than Marxism. A former East German communist is bound to be unpopular, but perhaps not so much if he rehabilitates himself as a renewable energy enthusiast. The case of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, is different in that she openly advertised herself as a socialist in a country with a well-grounded historical aversion to such alien ideologies.

The USA was started and developed into a successful and wealthy country by mostly white people. So, if you’re a non-white racist, of course you’d want to tear it down. Makes all the sense in the world.

This girl is just one congress critter, and she's nothing but a high rank idiot. Why does she get so much attention? Why are her "policies" even taken seriously? Call her the fool that she is, and move the heck on!

You mean that this blissfully ignorant, incredibly dishonest socialist who was a waitress in a lower Manhattan taco restaurant just 12 months ago shouldn’t be entrusted with our wealth, our freedoms and our futures? Except for the waitress part, she is little different than most Democrats.

PHILADELPHIA — On Wednesday, while the 4,000-odd attendees of the annual Netroots Nation conference were still en route to their hotels, dozens of protesters marched across the center of city to Joe Biden's newly opened campaign headquarters. Members of Movimiento Cosecha occupied the lobby, some of them standing behind a banner (BIDEN: WE HAVEN'T FORGOTTEN 3 MILLION DEPORTATIONS) and some speaking through a bullhorn. “We can't forget Obama's legacy,” said Florida-based immigrant rights activist Catalina Santiago, who was born in Mexico. “He promised the immigrant community papers, an ability to have a dignified life. Yet eight years later, he deported 3 million people, and Biden was complicit in that.”

The electronic “smart home” promises endless convenience and security. People will control the temperature of their home from their office. This fall, Walmart will launch a service that will let a delivery worker unlock a house with an app and then stock its refrigerator with food, all monitored by a live camera on the worker’s chest. It all sounds too good to be true. And maybe it is. Before we plunge headlong into the Brave New World of smart homes, let’s pause and consider potential bugs in the system. If we’d have done that with Facebook when it started, we might have been able to balance its convenience with the fact

The strains of almost eighteen years of continuous war, Obama’s massive budget cuts, and a tide of damaging politics have eroded critical parts of our military. What has held together, until last week, was the most critical element: the trust that must exist between the civilian leadership and the military of all ranks. A huge blow to that trust has just occurred on Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer’s watch. Another failure of leadership, both similar and different, is taking place about the nomination of Gen. John Hyten, Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, to be the next vice chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. On May 24, the Senate

Regular readers know that I am a fan of President Trump, and more often than not, a fan of his use of social media. But today he committed the worst unforced error of his presidency, one that we will hear about from the Democrats from now until November 2020. This morning the president tweeted about “‘Progressive’ Democratic Congresswomen”: [Tweet]I assume Trump is talking about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her “Squad,” and I share his low opinion of those ill-informed leftists. And no doubt he had in mind Ilhan Omar when he referred to “countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe,” etc. His description certainly applies to Somalia.

Former President Bill Clinton tried to push back on reporting about trips he took with Jeffery Epstein where Secret Service were not listed on flight manifests, but failed to address why records show he took six separate trips on the "Lolita Express." Clinton's press secretary Angel Ureña said Monday that Clinton had traveled four times in total with the alleged child sex trafficker, and "Supporters of the Foundation, and his Secret Service detail, traveled on every leg of every trip.” Ureña only responded to a Washington Examiner inquiry about the trips after publication. Ureña did not reply to repeated questions about the discrepancy between the number of trips Clinton, 72,

In two essays, “Illness as Metaphor” in 1978 and “AIDS and Its Metaphors” in 1988, the critic Susan Sontag observed that you can learn a lot about a society from the metaphors it uses to describe disease. She also suggested that disease itself can serve as a metaphor—a reflection of the society through which it travels. In other words, the way certain illnesses spread reveals something not just about a nation’s physiological health but also about its cultural and political health. For instance, AIDS would not have ravaged America as fully as it did without institutionalized homophobia, which inclined many Americans to see the disease as retribution for gay sex.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pacing the stage at a cyberconference in Tel Aviv, and he is not happy. For the past seven minutes, he’s been making the case that his policies have launched a booming tech industry in Israel and enabled the tiny country that once fought for its existence to become a security force around the globe. He’s holding his shoulders up and back, a stage tip he got from Sean Connery. His red tie, white shirt and dark suit mirror a certain American President who has emerged as a massive Netanyahu ally. But there’s a problem. Graphics on the giant screen behind him keep

We should have seen this coming: After less than a year in office, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez already has become the most tediously predictable person in politics. Ocasio-Cortez, the would-be Taylor Swift of the Democratic Party, habitually dismisses her critics and those of her “Squad” — as the four new champagne radicals in the House call themselves — as racists and sexists. Nancy Pelosi, the leader of her party in the House, is only the latest target of this strategy. Pelosi, she says, habitually singles out “newly elected women of color” such as herself for criticism. It is, AOC says, part of a pattern. Which is, ironically, part of a pattern.

President Trump has a challenge for investigative journalists everywhere: Find out who visited convicted sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein’s island. The billionaire whose plane was called “Lolita Express” by pundits often brought the rich and powerful to his private island. The president on Friday noted that reporters now focused on outgoing Labor Secretary Alex Acosta’s prosecution of Mr. Epstein should dig into who visited what became known among locals as “Orgy Island.” “Other people, they went all over with him,” Mr. Trump said from the White House lawn. “They went to his island and all over the place. It is useful to start with a not-so-hypothetical possibility. Suppose that next April 1, the official counting day for the 2020 census, a caravan of 10,000 citizens of Honduras storms across the U.S. border into Texas. Their leaders proceed to proclaim intent to remain as permanent residents. According to the Census Bureau’s Residence Rule, they can immediately fill out census forms and be included in the population of Texas for purposes of determining the state’s number of House seats and Electoral College votes. Similarly, the 1 million people subject to final deportation orders who remain in this country must be counted. The bureau’s current test is whether someone resides here, regardless

Bill and Hillary Clinton got a taste of New York's state of mind on Thursday night. After singer Billy Joel dedicated a song to the former first couple and flashed them up on the screen at Madison Square Garden, initial cheers turned to boos from the audience. The former first lady has been under scrutiny for years as she criticized President Trump and attempted to lay out the reasons she thought were behind her loss to him in the 2016 election. Former President Bill Clinton, on the other hand, faced fresh criticism surrounding his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, who on Monday was indicted on sex trafficking charges.
