To Win Her First Wimbledon Title

Serena Williams went into the Wimbledon finals on Saturday hoping to secure her 24th Grand Slam singles title — an accomplishment that would have equaled the record set by Margaret Court in the 1970s. But after losses in two sets — 6-2, 6-2 — she fell to 27 year old Simona Halep, who with the victory became the first Romanian player to win a singles title at Wimbledon.(Snip)From the beginning, Halep dominated the match against Williams, controlling the court with her speed, coverage and aggressive ground strokes. When Williams failed to return the final rally that clinched the match, Halep sank to her knees and raised her racket high

Comments:

One major site called Halep’s game “flawless tennis”… Halep is a great tennis player, a gracious competitor, and absolutely adorable… Hurray for her on this major win!

Billie jean King is RIGHT! "...if I were Serena, I would give up being a celebrity for a year and a half," King said. "If she wants to win titles, if she wants to beat records, that's the question. I don't know what she wants. No more Met Galas. Just stop all this insanity because she is trying to be everything. Especially at her age, you have to give up all these peripheral things, if you want to do this. If she is quite happy the way she is, then fine. I think she really needs to continue working on her fitness and get refocused if she wants to beat all these records, like Margaret Court's singles record of 24."

The Williams sisters need to hang up their rackets and spend some quality time with their tropheys. I'm sure there is plenty to do in the tennis world that would be helpful to the younger kids coming up. There careers may be faultering but there are many contributions they could contribute toward others.

Simona won against an aging and arrogant Serena Williams, but I doubt we'll see too much of her in the future. She's 27, which is old in tennis, but good for her; she should enjoy her the win. Of course, what do I know. She covers the court well.

Donald Trump wants people to think he’s a winner. So why does he act like a loser? Winners convey a sense of effortless superiority. They don’t have to work at it. You just know they’re above it all. If someone tries to criticize them, it’s beneath their dignity to worry about it. It’s just a little speck they brush off their shoulder. The Brits are good at that, Boris Johnson especially. We still don’t know how things will turn out there, but I expect his aplomb will carry him through. “There are no disasters,” he once joked. “Only opportunities. And, indeed, opportunities for fresh disasters.”
